Alleged N80.2billion Money Laundering: EFCC Arraigns Yahaya Bello April 18

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, will on Thursday, April 18, 2024 arraign a former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Adoza Bello before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

He will be arraigned before Justice Emeka Nwite alongside three other suspects, Ali Bello, Dauda Suleiman and Abdulsalam Hudu on 19- count charges bordering on money laundering to the tune of N80, 246, 470, 088.88 (Eighty Billion, Two Hundred and Forty Six Million, Four Hundred and Seventy Thousand and Eight Nine Naira, Eighty Eight Kobo).

Bello’s arraignment is coming on the heels of a warrant of arrest and enrolment order granted the EFCC by the court on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

Count one of the charges reads: That you, Yahaya Adoza Bello, Ali Bello, Dauda Suliman, and Abdulsalam Hudu( Still at large), sometime, in February, 2016, in Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, conspired amongst yourselves to convert the total sum of N80, 246,470, 088.88 (Eighty Billion, Two Hundred and Forty Six Million, Four Hundred and Seventy Thousand and Eight Nine Naira, Eighty Eight Kobo), which sum you reasonably ought to have known forms part of the proceeds of your unlawful activity to wit, criminal breach of trust and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 18(a) and punishable under Section 15(3) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 as amended”.

Count 17 of the charges read: “That you Yahaya Bello between 26th July 2021 to 6th April 2022 in Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court aided E-Traders International Limited to conceal the aggregate sum of N3, 081, 804,654.00 (Three Billion, Eighty One Million Eight Hundred and Four Thousand Six Hundred and Fifty Four Naira) in account number 1451458080 domiciled in Access BankPlc, which sum you reasonably ought to have known forms part of proceeds of unlawful activity to wit, criminal breach of trust and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 18(a), 15(2) (d) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 as amended and punishable under Section 15 (3) of the same Act.

Count 18 of the charges reads: “That you Yahaya Adoza Bello sometime in November 2021 in Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court indirectly procured E-Traders international Limited to transfer the aggregate sum of $570,330.00 (Five Hundred and Seventy Thousand, Three Hundred and Thirty Dollars) to account number 4266644272 domiciled in TD Bank, United States of America which sum you reasonably ought to have known forms part of proceeds of unlawful activity to wit, criminal breach of trust and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 15(2) (d) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 as amended and punishable under Section 15( 3) of the same Act”.

The Commission’s attempt to execute the Warrant of Arrest lawfully obtained against Bello met stiff resistance on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. The security cordon around the former governor’s residence in Abuja was breached by the current Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo who ensured that the suspect was spirited away in his official vehicle. As a responsible law enforcement agency, the EFCC exercised restraint in the face of the provocation, waiting for his arraignment on Thursday, April 18, 2024.

It is needful to state that Bello is not above the law and would be brought to justice as soon as possible.

ILU AJẸ (TOWN OF WITCHES)

There is a small town on your way to Oyo, just behind Fiditi, it's called Ilu Ajẹ. Literally, it translates to "Town of Witches".

In the late 80s, there used to be a sign board in Fiditi that pointed to the path to the village, the signboard had the inscription :

"WAY TO ILU AJẸ, HOME OF SCIENCE!".

Lots of people used to fear indigenes of Ilu Ajẹ because it was said that every man in Ilu Ajẹ is born of a witch, and every woman in ilu Ajẹ is a witch!

TownHall Gist visited Ilu Ajẹ to find out why a whole village would be populated by witches.

Because the Baale (village head) is dead and no replacement has been chosen yet, we met with the chiefs who told us the history of the town....

The father of the current Alaafin, i.e Alaafin Adeyemi II was said to have many siblings when he was young. One of his siblings got missing!

A king's son got missing ke? Infact, scrap it, Alaafin of Oyo in those days was not a king, he was an Emperor! No, a deity!

When the son of such an entity gets missing, of course it's a very big trouble in the whole empire!

Hunters were commisioned to look for the son. Every nook and corner of Oyo town was searched. Every crevice was checked, all hilltops were visited, yet the Alaafin's son couldn't be found.

Like the shepherd who had 99 sheep but was despondent about the lone missing sheep, the father was heart broken about his missing son.

Herbalists were consulted, from Oyo to Ife. Sorcerers were recruited from Egbado to Ilaje, yet no one could help find the missing son. Kabiyesi was sad, Olori was pained, the whole empire was gloomy.

One evening, three months later, as the king and chiefs were in the open court deliberating on the issue, a Babalawo strolled into the palace court with his apo ifa (oracle bag), everyone looked at him in askance, "Baba, what do you want, why are you here, who do you want to see? Can't you see we are in the middle of a serious issue?" the chiefs asked him....

HOW TO MAKE MILO AT HOME

INGREDIENTS
120g of cocoa powder
250g of icing Sugar
250g of milk flavoring powder
300g of powdered milk.
½ table spoon malt extract

PREPARATION

Pour your cocoa powder, icing sugar in a dry clean bowl and mix thoroughly.

Add your powdered milk and milk flavoring powder and mix together.

Break your egg and separate the egg yolk from the egg white, add the egg white to the mixture and mix together until it's well mixed (you can use your hand to mix).

Put it in the oven to dry for 10 to 15 mins.

Your milo is ready.

In the absence of oven, you can use the double pot method for drying.

Monitor your production so it doesn't burn.

Chief Lere Paimo, MFR was born on November 19, 1939, in Ile Ikoyi Odan, Osupa, Ogbomosho, a city in Oyo State southwestern Nigeria. His father was a to***co and yam farmer, the leader of the local farmers’ organization. His mother was a trader. Chief Lere Paimo was sent to primary school in Ogbomoso, but then left for the Gold Coast where he continued his education in the Gold Coast ( current day Ghana) up to teacher training college where he obtained Teacher’s Grade two certificate. He eventually returned back to Nigeria and decided to stay in Osogbo where he worked as a class-room teacher in a Baptist Missionary School.

He began acting in 1958 after he joined the Oyin Adejobi theatre group, a theatre group founded by Pa Oyinade Adejobi before he later joined Duro Ladipo's Theatre Group where he featured in a stage play titled Obamoro with the role of "Chief B asa". He became popular following a lead role as Soun Ogunola played in an epic yoruba film t Thtled Ogbori Elemosho which brought him into limelight. He had featured, produced and directed several Nigerian films since he began acting in 1963. In 2005, in recognition of his im In around 1960, while working as a teacher in Osogbo, he decided to join Oyin Adejobi theatre group, a theatre group founded by Pa Oyinade Adejobi which was an organization performing plays for churches, schools, and cultural and social clubs. A year later in about 1961, Duro Ladipo invited him to Mbari Club, the cultural centre founded by Ulli Beier to take part in an art production. He was interested in painting as well as in theatre, so he accepted the invitation.

From the beginning, Lere Paimo’s talent as an actor was recognized and he was given leading roles. In Eda, a Yoruba version of Ev he played Everyman himself, so memorably that up till today his nickname has remained Eda Onile ola. While with Duro Ladipo, he featured in a stage play titled Obamoro with the role of "Chief Basa". eryman,mense contributions to the Nigerian film industry, he was bestowed a National award of Member of the Federal Republic alongside Zeb Ejiro by Olusegun Obasanjo the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. OKPOHO

The Okpoho is an ancient money invented by the Efik and used extensively in the 16th century AD across West Africa as a medium of monetary exchange in trade between the Europeans and indigenous west Africans.

Made of bronze or copper, the Okpoho was usually formed into a ring-shaped object that looked like a bracelet with each end of the ring flattened out. Because it looked like a bracelet (and in fact, was sometimes worn around the wrists, neck or ankles as bracelets by women of wealthy husbands), the Spanish called it 'manilla', meaning bracelets.

The Okpoho originated in ancient Calabar City, Efik country, and its use was documented in the 16th AD as a medium of monetary exchange where one Okpoho bought one elephant tooth, and one slave could be bought for 8 to 10 Okpohos during the slave trade era.
The Okpoho is also featured at the back of the Nigerian N100 currency note, and also in the Akwa Ibom State seal, and in many other places.

A friend indeed is a friend indeed. A yoruba proverbs say ' Eni ore da mashe binu eni abini nda ni'. Ore lo npa NI beni ore loo nla ni.

When the police say they should question those that see Mohbad Ilerioluwa within seventy two hours before is demise. These three pictures with him are among those with him. Primeboy is his childhood friend, Wunmi is wife and Aduragbemi is junior brother.

When Mohbad's demise was announced, it mentions that Primeboy knows about it that he hit him with charm and Primeboy comes online and debunks it. Again when the police called on everyone saw or with Mohbad within seventy two hours and not see Primeboy, they announced him wanted and the Primeboy showed up with his lawyer. Police detained him for some time and released him.

Police again arrested Primeboy a few days ago and later released him.

Since the demise of Mohbad Primeboy has continued saying Mohbad and his wife Wunmi have arguments in the car when going to the event and the argument continues again when coming back. He said, he was trying to tell his friend to leave everything until they got home and Mohbad shifted it on him.

When they asked Aduragbemi, he said Mohbad sent Primeboy to come and call him that it's time to leave and said he's coming. Primeboy is angry that he doesn't like the way he talks to him and reports it to Mohbad. Mohbad said to Primeboy to leave him that his going to deal with him when get home but Primeboy keeps talking to Aduragbemi in bad manners that's when Mohbad is angry with Primeboy and they start fighting.

Mohbad's mother now shields lights into the reason Aduragbemi insists that Primeboy is the one kpai his brother. Adura said, Mohbad came to him and said that he doesn't know what is wrong with him since Primeboy hits him, that he doesn't feel fine anymore.

Again Mohbad's mother said, Mohbad's father tells her that he is the one that tells Primeboy to run away. She also mentioned that Primeboy's mother is a woman friend to Mohbad's father.

Primeboy puts Wunmi's name into the world mouth to cover what really happens in the event and because their father that is supposed to take action tells Primeboy to run away. They want Adura to back them and mention Wunmi's name as well. But he refused to do so and stand with what he knows.

Maybe this is one of the reasons Wunmi tells Primeboy not to come to their house when he called that is coming to pick his bag.

This is why I always say we should say the truth no matter how it hard because they truth will sent us free. If true Primeboy not his friend face each other and fight why he doesn't want to mention or say it? If truly Mohbad tells her brother that he doesn't feel fine since he hits him, it can happen if Mohbad have some health issues that is struggling with or maybe tiredness. But anything will lay on lying can not bring good results.

Let fear friends because we have different types of friends and how's are we going to know bad one from good ones? Also good friends can become bad friends because of one thing organised another likewise bad friends can turn good friends. We have to be very careful and trust no one.
