ABSU MANAGEMENT SUSPENDS STAFF FOR ALLEGED BRUTALIZATION OF STUDENT

The University Management, Abia State University, under the able leadership of the Vice-chancellor, Distinguished Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu has directed the immediate suspension of a security staff, Mr. Ugochukwu Onyemere, for three (3) months for dereliction of duty and gross act of indiscipline.

In a letter signed by the Registrar, Dr Acho Elendu, the suspension is in line with the University conditions of service, pending further investigation of his involvement in a case of brutalization of a student, Miss Dominic Chizurum, on Monday 6th May 2024, at Hostel H. Room 22, which is inconsistent with the level of responsibility expected of a security personnel.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor has also called the student, Miss Dominic Chizurum to extend the sympathy and support of management while assuring staff and students of the University of their safety and protection at all times.

Admission at ABSU: Free, Transparent, Beware of Scammers

=ABSU ONLINE=

ABSU is dedicated to maintaining a fair and transparent admission process, following a merit-based system that considers Jamb performance, Post Jamb examination scores, and other relevant criteria. These processes are regulated by established guidelines and are not influenced by financial considerations.

The allegations against the Vice Chancellor contradict ABSU's fundamental principles. The university upholds meritocracy, ensuring that every student gains admission based on academic prowess and potential to contribute positively to the academic community.

The admission process is not for sale, and any claim suggesting otherwise is baseless. The university encourages students and parents to be cautious of misinformation and beware of scammers.

It is unfortunate that such allegations can tarnish the reputation of a reputable institution like ABSU. This incident emphasizes the importance of public awareness regarding admission scams. Prospective students and their families should be cautious of individuals or groups claiming to have influence over the admission process in exchange for monetary benefits.

ABSU has always encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities related to admission to the appropriate authorities. The university has established channels for reporting such incidents, and any attempt to exploit individuals through fraudulent admission schemes should be brought to the attention of the university administration.

The recent allegations against the Vice-Chancellor of ABSU regarding admission bribery are unequivocally false. ABSU remains committed to providing a transparent, fair, and merit-based admission process for all eligible candidates. It is imperative for the public to be vigilant against scams and rely on official communication channels for accurate information.
