Right: Mr. Bassey is a member of staff of this school.

Reason: The word " staff" is a collective noun. So nobody can be a staff. It may also mean a pole serving as a support.

Right:. My father has a storey building.

Reason: the word " upstairs" is an adverb meaning " to be on a higher floor, e.g Ada went upstairs. Therefore, the adverb " upstairs" modifies the verb "went " in the sentence. Also , an adverb cannot go with the article "an " without a noun.
