EXCLUSIVE: Adeleke’s certificates show Osun governor-elect obtained bachelor’s degree 24 days after finishing secondary school

To run for office and become governor-elect in Osun last month, Ademola Adeleke tendered a high school diploma and a college degree that were obtained 24 days apart in the United States last year, according to a review of academic credentials before the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

In the records he filed with the electoral commission between March 11 and 18, 2022, and acquired by Peoples Gazette on July 23, Mr Adeleke said he earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Atlanta Metropolitan State College on August 9, 2021. In the same declaration, Mr Adeleke presented a diploma certificate obtained from Penn Foster High School dated July 16, 2021 — only 24 days prior to his college certificate.

The Gazette learnt that Penn Foster High School is an education consultancy in the U.S. that offers online high school diplomas. Atlanta Metropolitan State College, where Mr Adeleke said he attended, accepts diplomas from Penn Foster, this website said. If Mr Adeleke was admitted into Atlanta Metropolitan for a bachelor’s degree programme with a high school diploma, he should spend at least four years on the course he selected.

But Mr Adeleke, born May 13, 1960, said he didn’t use the Penn Foster diploma to gain admission into college, and The Gazette could not establish or disprove his statement since the school failed to respond to enquiries.

For three weeks, The Gazette sent several emails and exchanged telephone calls with officials of the school, but they failed to give any categorial clarification as to whether or not Mr Adeleke earned a bachelor’s degree there.

Weeks after initially promising to respond after the conclusion of a review of The Gazette’s request by the school’s leadership, officials at the registrar’s office started hanging up calls relating to Mr Adeleke.

IGP Suspends Female Police Officers For Violation Of Social Media Policy

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has suspended two Supernumerary Police Officers, with immediate effect, for breach of the provisions of the Police Act, 2020, and The Nigeria Police Guidelines for Recruitment/Promotion/Discipline of Supernumerary Police (SPY) 2013 by the Inspector-General of Police, as captured in a video posted by one of the officers in a viral video on August 3, 2022, IGBERETV reports.

The officers went viral recently after videos of them looking sexy in and out of their uniforms went viral.

EFCC Arrests 10 Internet Fraud Suspects in Abuja

Operatives of the Abuja Zonal Command of the EFCC have arrested 10 suspected internet fraudsters. The suspects were arrested on August 25, 2022, in a sting operation at various locations in Kubwa and Gwarimpa areas of Abuja for alleged involvement in cyber-fraud.

Among items recovered from them at the point of arrest are mobile phones, laptop computers and three luxury cars- a Mercedes Benz CLA 250, Mercedes Benz GLK 350 and Toyota Venza.

EFCC Arrests 11 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Benin

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Benin Zonal Command on Thursday August 25, 2022 arrested 11 suspected internet fraudsters in Benin City, Edo State.

The suspects are Kelvin Azuibike, Andrew Otuokparwo, Miracle Eloze, Junior Oseyi, Okoye Godfrey, Oseiwa Oifoghe and Odia Sylvester. Others are Ekhazor Evans, Collins Akpotu, Victor Okoh and Francis Agathor.

They were arrested at their hideout following intelligence on their alleged internet fraud-related activities.

Items recovered from the suspects at the point of arrest include mobile phones and laptops.

BREAKING! Borno Government Seals Off NNPP Office In Maiduguri Over 2023

The police in Borno have sealed off the state secretariat of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) on the orders of the Borno State government.

An Armoured Personnel Carrier vehicle was stationed at the entrance of the secretariat located at Abbaganaram area in Maiduguri, as of Thursday afternoon.

A detachment of policemen were also around the building as seen by journalists.

Mohammed Mustafa, chairman of the state chapter of the party, while reacting to the development, described it as “surprising”.

“Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, our presidential candidate, is expected to visit Maiduguri on Saturday, but we woke up today (Thursday) to see Policemen with Armoured Personnel Carrier stationed in front of our secretariat.

“The Policemen have prevented party members from going in.

“The party occupied this secretariat three months ago and it was expected to be formally inaugurated by our presidential candidate on Saturday. He was also expected to hold a meeting with party stakeholders in the state there.

Udom’s former Chief of Staff emerges YPP senatorial candidate

Former Chief of Staff to Governor Udom Emmanuel, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang-Eyen has announced that he is the Senatorial candidate for Eket Senatorial District under the platform of Young Progressives Party (YPP).

Inyang-Eyen made the announcement on Saturday during the official defection rally of governorship hopeful, Senator Bassey Albert from PDP to YPP held at Ifa Ikot Akpan, Uyo.

Inyang-Eyen who equally served as Commissioner for Works in the present administration also presented former state lawmaker, Rt. Hon. Usenobong Akpabio as YPP candidate for Uyo Senatorial District and erstwhile Federal lawmaker, Hon. Emmanuel Ekon as the party’s senatorial candidate for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.

Hon Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, member representing Ikono/ Ini Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, and member representing Ikono State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Asuquo Nana Udo, on Saturday, officially joined the Young Progressives Congress (YPP).

The duo rescinded their membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and were joined by Senatorial hopeful and former House of Representatives member for Abak Etim Ekpo Federal Constituency, Rt Hon Emmanuel Ekon; former Commissioner in the state, Hon Samuel Udofia and other decampees to be presented during the party's official reception of 2023 governorship frontrunner, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan.

In the image of the father: * Children of Nigerian politicians are taking over from their fathers

A fruit does not drop far from its tree. In Nigeria, children are being made in the image and likeness of their parents, following their footsteps in their professions.

It is common to see children of lawyers becoming lawyers like their parents. Medical doctors beget their type and now more frequently, Nigerian politicians are teaching their children the ropes of politics. Hence, an Iyabo Obasanjo became first, a commissioner and then a senator; Dimeji Bankole became a legislator and then Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has said that when he opposed the plan to foist a Muslim-Muslim presidency on Nigeria in 2014, he acted in the national interest with the belief that Nigeria is bigger than anybody’s ambition, including that of Bola Tinubu.

Saraki was responding to Tinubu’s speech in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday, in which he claimed that the former Senate President and others opposed his desire to be running mate to President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 elections.

In a statement signed by the head of his Media Office, Yusuph Olaniyonu, yesterday, Saraki stressed that he would oppose any plan that would cause a religious crisis in a multi-religious country like Nigeria.

“When other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and I stood against having a Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2014, it was not a decision targeted at any individual or group, but one taken in the national interest. Tinubu knows this and he is just being mischievous by presenting this decision as something aimed at stopping his ambition.

“Let me make it clear that the decision to oppose the plans by some people to make APC present a Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2015 was in the national interest and I will take the same stand today, tomorrow and any other day. My stance is based on the fact that such a ticket is not good for the unity of the country and will further accentuate one of our fault lines,” he said.
