As the Media-EIS Fellowship for Track 2 (Social and Behaviour Change/Risk Communication for Cohort 1) rounds off, we reflect on a week filled with knowledge, collaboration, and growth. From exploring the intricacies of ethical journalism and storytelling to delving into infection prevention and control strategies, our fellows have been immersed in cutting-edge insights.

Led by seasoned facilitators, we navigated the realms of public health communication, risk perception, and the role of media in driving behavioral change during crises.

Here are some portraits from the Media Epidemiology, Infodemiology, and Social Behaviour Change/Risk Communication (Media-EIS) on the fifth day of their second track session in Abuja.

The fellows reflected on active listening and went into the field to discuss with key stakeholders the stories they wanted to tell and how best to craft them. When they returned, they developed creative briefs around Lassa Fever, Tuberculosis, Lead Poisoning, Diphtheria, etc.

The fellows were also privileged to receive valuable guidance from Dr. Simon Antara, the Executive Director of AFENET Africa. Dr. Antara emphasized the pivotal qualities of dedication and the importance of cultivating strategic partnerships within their field and beyond. His insightful admonishment underscores the significance of commitment and collaboration in fostering success in their endeavors. An enriching moment as the fellows navigate their professional journeys with these key principles in mind.

Today is the last training day, and the fellows have come a long way! We are proud of their dedication to improving themselves and contributing to Nigeria's practical management of infectious diseases.
