Southwest BON commiserate with Dokpesi Family, DAAR Communication

Family and Management of DAAR Communications have been advised to sustain legacies left behind by late media mogul, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi.

Chairman, Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria, BON, Zone C, Southwest, Deacon Owolabi Oladejo gave the advice when he led a delegation on a condolence visit to DAAR Communications, Broadcasting Village, Àlagbàdo, Lagos State.

Deacon Oladejo who enumerated the contributions of late Chief Dokpesi to the media industry in Africa and Nigeria in particular, said he would be remembered for his impact to the progress and stability of BON.

Members of the delegation who paid the visit include Secretary BON Zone C, Southwest, who is also General Manager, Ogun Radio,Mrs. Oluwatoyin Sogbesan and Assistant Secretary, who is Pensioners' FM Ibadan, General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu

Chief Raymond Dokpesi contested for the post of PDP National Chairman but lost to Uche Secondus see six things to know about the Founder of Raypower & AIT that died

1. Born on 25 October 1951 in Ibadan, Oyo, Chief Raymond Anthony Aleogho Dokpesi did his undergraduate studies in the University of Benin Edo and completed his studies in University of Gdansk, Poland where he earned his Doctorate degree in Marine Engineering.
2. His studies, from secondary school to university level is said to be sponsored by Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, a prominent Nigerian civil servant from Adamawa who served as Minister of Industries in the administration of General Sani Abacha.
3. He started as the personal assistant to Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
4. Prior to his death, he was a Nigerian media entrepreneur who set up the Nigerian TV network, Africa Independent Television (AIT).
5. His parents were from Agenebode in Edo, but he grew up with six siblings.
6. Dokpesi also served as a civil servant in the Federal Ministry of Transport under Alhaji Umaru Dikko and General Garba Wushishi.

Fela Not Happy in Death, Disillusioned About Nigeria — Yeni Kuti

Yeni, daughter of the pioneer of Afrobeat and one of the celebrated freedom fighter, Fela Kuti, has said that her father was ill, disillusioned about his country, and didn't die happily.

Yeni disclosed this in an interview with Chude posted on Instagram on Tuesday.

She said, "I think he was really disillusioned with Nigeria at the time that he died. A lot of things that he sang against were actually happening.

"And sometimes I think, it’s even better he died then, cause if he didn’t die then, he would have died now. So, I don’t think he died happy. ‘Cause he actually lived for his country.

"Fela had the opportunity to live anywhere in the world, but he didn't. He chose to live here. That's one thing I love my family for. We all choose to live here cause this is home. Nowhere else is home."

It is set for 7am and will be his last ever after eight years in office.

A statement by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, advised Television, radio stations and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.

The newly signed distinguish broadcaster who has explored banking world and thereafter making noticeable impact will be heading Yorùbá unit of the programme's department going forward.

Jidenna, the two-year-old son of comic actor, Osinachi D**e popularly known as Apama, has died.

According to reports, the toddler died on Tuesday.

A High Court sitting in Abuja has convicted the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, of contempt of court.

The conviction was in relation to the failure of the anti-graft agency to comply with a November 21, 2018 court order directing it to return a Range Rover and the sum of N40 million to the applicant in a suit.

In his ruling, Justice Chizoba Oji held that, “The Chairman Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is in contempt of the orders of this honourable court made on November 21st 2018 directing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abuja to return to the applicant his Range Rover (Supercharged) and the sum of N40, 000,000.00 (Forty Million Naira).
“Having continued wilfully in disobedience to the order of this court, he should be committed to prison at Kuje Correctional Centre for his disobedience, and continued disobedience of the said order of court made on November 21st, 2018, until he purges himself of the contempt.

“The Inspector-General of Police shall ensure that the order of this honourable court is executed forthwith.”

Tinubu consoles Davido over son's death

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his wife Senator Oluremi Tinubu have condoled with Davido and Chioma over the death of their son Ifeanyi.

Tinubu, in a condolence message on his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday, asked that God grants Davido and Chioma the fortitude and strength to deal with this painful tragedy.

The Nation reports that Ifeanyi drowned in the family's swimming pool on Monday night while his parents were on a trip to Ibadan for a family function.

The Lagos Police Command, while confirming the death of Ifeanyi, revealed that all members of Davido’s domestic staff are in their custody.

Tinubu's tweet reads: “Oluremi and I send our heartfelt and deepest condolences to David, Chioma, and the entire Adeleke family over the tragic loss of their son, Ifeanyi. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. May the Lord grant them the fortitude and strength to deal with this painful tragedy.”

KAYODE JOSEPH TAKES OVER AS COO, YEMI SONDE MEDIA GROUP AS EMPLOYEES GET CONFIRMATION OF APPOINTMENT.

Veteran broadcaster, Mr Kayode Joseph has been announced as the Chief Operating Officer of the Yemi Sonde Media Group which includes Yes 101.7 FM, Ibadan, Yes Media Academy and YES MA Radio (an online radio for the academy).

Mr Joseph who has more than thirty five years experience in the broadcast industry was until his appointment the Provost of the Yes Media Academy, the training arm of the Media Group.

Also, Yes 101.7 FM staff members who have been in the organization for the mandatory six months probationary period have had their employment confirmed in accordance with corporate practices while some freelancers with the organization also got their contract ratified and offered full employment..

In his remarks, the Managing Director of the Media Group, Mr Yemi Sonde who said the appointment of Mr Joseph is well deserved considering his rich professional background said the harmonization becomes necessary to help operational procedures amongst the business sub units especially considering its expansion tendencies.

Mr Sonde also congratulated the staff members who had their appointments confirmed reiterating that Yes 101.7 FM will continue to tow the path of professionalism not just in content delivery but human resource management and assured them that their welfare will continue to be a priority.
