CAN NIGERIANS SURVIVE WITHOUT SINGLE-USE PLASTICS?

Enforcing adherence to the Single-Use Plastic Ban in Nigeria presents a unique challenge, considering the tendency of Nigerians to find shortcuts and prioritize immediate needs over future consequences. While the ban is undoubtedly a crucial step by the government to address environmental pollution, there are concerns among Nigerians regarding its potential financial implications and the impact on the distribution and packaging sectors, thus influencing the broader economy.

It's essential to acknowledge the scepticism rooted in the belief that the ban might increase individuals' financial burdens. However, it's crucial to emphasize that the long-term benefits of a cleaner and healthier environment far outweigh the initial adjustments. The ban is a proactive measure to safeguard the current well-being of citizens but also the prosperity of future generations.

To ensure successful adherence, the government can actively engage with the public, addressing concerns and providing alternatives that are both environmentally friendly and economically feasible. Highlighting the positive impact on public health, ecosystem preservation, and the nation's global standing in environmental conservation can foster a sense of collective responsibility.

Furthermore, emphasizing the potential for job creation and economic growth in alternative, sustainable industries can shift the narrative from financial burden to economic opportunity. By showcasing success stories of businesses thriving in the wake of such transitions, the government can inspire confidence in the potential benefits of the ban.

In summary, while initial scepticism is expected, a persuasive and comprehensive communication strategy that addresses financial concerns highlights long-term benefits and showcases the positive economic impact of the Single-Use Plastic Ban can significantly contribute to widespread adherence and support from the Nigerian populace.

Surviving without single-use plastics in Nigeria is not only feasible but presents an opportunity for transformative changes in lifestyle and consumption hab...

Last Friday, my colleague and I took a trip to Electric Bikes Lagos, meeting up with the CEO, Francis Paul. He dove deep into why Electric Vehicles (EVs) are a game-changer for every home. On our ride back, we pondered the reality of EVs in a place like Nigeria. We weighed the pros and cons against Gasoline Vehicles. It got me thinking, 'Are we truly ready for EVs?'

Just like I asked my friend, I'm throwing the question to you too, 'Are We Really Ready for the Electric Vehicle Transition?' Join our chat in the Startups Space tomorrow at 3:00 PM WAT. Let's unravel this together!

After 20 Years, NAFDAC Still Losing The Battle Against Fake Drugs

Are Nigerians Ready For The 'Green Book'?

For more than 20 years, NAFDAC, Nigeria’s agency for regulating food and drugs, has been fighting against fake medicines. The struggle persists for several reasons that make it tough to completely solve the problem.

One big issue is that those making fake drugs have become very clever. They use advanced methods to copy real medicines so well that it’s hard for NAFDAC to tell the difference. This makes it tricky to catch and stop them.

The way medicines are made and sold globally has also made things difficult. The process involves many steps and often crosses borders, making it hard to figure out where the fake drugs are coming from and how they’re getting into the market.

Corruption among people in charge of making sure medicines are safe is another problem. Some people who work in regulatory agencies might help those making fake drugs, making it harder to enforce the rules that are meant to stop them.

The "NAFDAC Green Book" represents a significant leap forward in the fight against counterfeit drugs and other fake goods.

Yesterday, When I broke the news that the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) released a list of Fintech Companies that are unlicensed to receive direct customer deposits from commercial banks, Olajumoke of XDeputy didn’t even allow me land, she quickly interrupted me, “Hope Carbon is not there o?” However, that was all. She didn’t do anything extra. Where am I heading with this?

Nigerians are stubborn-headed people and rarely heed warnings. I am a Nigerian, so this is no hate speech. Tell a Nigerian that there is a riot on the next street and he would go there just to see for himself rather than stay safe indoors. And Nigerians love reassurance.

A personal experience is the story of the bread that has been home for 6 days and had been forgotten about. The moment someone in the house saw it, observed it and assured us that it was still good, we all agreed and ate it. (You didn’t get this gist from me though.)

So I was actually expecting Fintech companies to reassure Nigerians not to panic amid the NIBSS warning, and boy was I right.

Below, I have broken down the NIBSS vs. Fintech Saga that is currently trending in the news. Starting off with how Nigerian financial services companies find themselves in a race to reassure users, as a memo from the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) calls for the removal of unlicensed fintechs from directly accepting consumer deposits.

Do you still want to relocate to Canada? Are you listening and vibing to the song “Canada” by popular Nigerian Rapper and Storyteller, Magnito? What if I ask you what the currency in Canada is? Or do you know what it looks like? A lot of Nigerians would answer no. However, this doesn’t apply to Nigerians alone. The African economies don’t associate with the Canadian dollar when it comes to trade. The question is why.

It’s like untangling a big knot of reasons that make African nations not use the Canadian dollar much. Africa is a big place with different kinds of economies, so there’s a mix of reasons why the Canadian dollar isn’t as popular there.

For political systems to be representative, all parts of society must be included. When young people are disenfranchised or disengaged from political processes, a significant portion of the population has little or no voice or influence in decisions that affect group members’ lives. A key consequence is the undermining of political systems’ representativeness.

To make a difference in the longer term, it is essential that young people are engaged in formal political processes and have a say in formulating today’s and tomorrow’s politics. Inclusive political participation is not only a fundamental political and democratic right but also is crucial to building stable and peaceful societies and developing policies that respond to the specific needs of younger generations. For young people to be adequately represented in political institutions, processes, and decision-making, and in particular in elections, they must know their rights and be given the necessary knowledge and capacity to participate in a meaningful way at all levels.

YOUTHS AS AGENT OF CHANGE

Never before have so many young people been involved in movements for change worldwide. They are taking to the streets and using online social networks and communities to connect, express their voices, and campaign for change. They are protesting against authoritarian regimes, corruption, and inequalities. They are fighting for sustainable development and a better future for current and new generations.

However, the political representation of young women and men remains limited. They are increasingly demanding more meaningful participation in decision-making processes, so they can have more control over how their lives and futures are shaped. Although young people are involved in activism in the digital space, protesting, volunteering to improve their communities and innovating for social good, their participation in and influence on formal politics is limited. Voter turnout is in decline in all democracies and is concentrated among youth. Young people are underrepresented in political decision-making positions and their involvement in political parties is dwindling.

Maintaining Our Cool Amidst Portal Maintenance -

---------------------------------------------------------

The ongoing maintenance of the online portal of the (NIMC) is detrimental to the operation of telecommunication companies in the country.

In a recent announcement via a prominent Lagos based radio station, the NIMC claimed that the ongoing maintenance is the reason why mobile network users are having difficulties with their SIM swap.

These past 2 weeks has had me frequenting one of the major Glo World Office in Lagos. The level of inactivity in the office calls for great concern, and this is as a result of the offline status of the NIMC portal.

Customers have been trooping into the office lodging complaints, but the usual response they get is "NIMC Portal is down, we can't do anything till it's up."
Regular functions like SIM Registration and Line Retrieval can't be carried out due to the ongoing NIMC portal maintenance.

The NIMC might have made it known through an announcement that their portal is down and undergoing maintenance, but Nigerians are becoming inpatient. When would this maintenance be over? When would the portal be back online? Is there no other way we can be proffered solution without the NIMC Portal involved? These are some of the questions concerned customers are asking.

Compliments go a long way.

For most of yesterday, my mood and spirit had been low. I just wasn't feeling myself.

I laid in bed lazily, surfing through Facebook and reading stories published on the platform.

I practically was in bed till about 3pm.

Then my phone rang and that changed everything.

It was my mom and the first thing she said into the receiver was 'congratulations'.

I asked her why I was been congratulated by her.

A lot of possible answers flashed through my mind before she replied me.

So the story is this.

I published an interview in October about The Victory Band leader, Oyema.

Oyema happens to be like a big brother to me for over 2 decades.

Back when we were still attending the Emmanuel Anglican Chapel in Ketu.

Then my younger brother was in the boarding house in Mate Nursery and Primary School.

The prestigious school and chapel share the same compound.

Oyema used to play the instruments in church then.

Then we lost touch.

Recently, my younger brother got in contact with him and I decided to run an interview on him.

Someone from my past who happens to know my family so well read the interview.

Then he contacted my mom and started showering praises on her.

That was what led to the call from my mom yesterday.

'Congratulations' she first said when I picked up the call.

That congratulatory compliment changed my mood yesterday.

It lifted my spirit.

Your compliments on people works go a long way.

Never be reluctant to compliment people.

READ A BOOK, WORK FROM HOME, MAKE MORE MONEY.
....and in that order.

It is chiefly through books that we enjoy in*******se with superior minds. In the best books, great men talk to us, give us their most precious thoughts, and pour their souls into ours. God be thanked for books. They are the voices of the distant and the dead, and make us heirs of the spiritual life of past ages. Books are true levelers. They give to all who will faithfully use them, the society, the spiritual presence, of the best and greatest of our race. - Williams Ellery Channing.

I just came across this lovely book and it's everything a sit-at-home Nigerian needs to read right now to make it out of the squeals of this economy and it's inflicting trying times.

With the government about to impose on us another lockdown, one can only wonder what the means of survival would be like with the present hardship in the country.

I would be sharing with you a link to the book at the end of this piece, so it is important you read this article carefully and not miss a thing as it contains very strong nuggets that would help your reading habit as well as also show ypu how to make money on the side.

All from just reading. Isn't that interesting?

The world of books is the most remarkable creation of man; nothing else that he builds ever lasts. Monuments fall; nations perish; civilizations grow old and die out. After an era of darkness, new races build others; but in the world of books are volumes that live on still as young and fresh as the day they were written, still telling men's hearts of the hearts of men centuries dead. - Clarence Day

Sometimes I tell people, "Knowledge is the key that unlocks all the doors. You can be green skinned with yellow polka dots and come from Mars, but if you have knowledge that people need, instead of beating you, they'll beat a path to your door" - Ben Carson || Think Big (p223)

Although I believe in consulting with and learning from experts and achievers, consultation cannot replace personal preparation. In my opinion, the base of personal preparation comes more from reading than any other source. That some people do not like to read much is really no substantive argument. The more we read, the better we read and the more we enjoy reading. We cannot read too much-- and most of us do not read enough.

Though we can learn in many ways, I am convinced that books are the best source for acquiring knowledge. Here are three significant serendipities that reading furnishes us:

1. Reading activates and exercises the mind.
2. Reading forces the mind to discriminate. From the beginning, readers have to recognize letters printed on the page, make them into words, the words into sentences, and the sentences into concepts.
3. Reading pushes us to use our imagination and makes us more creatively inclined.

Just like Plutarch said, "The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be ignited."

And the only way to keep the fire burning is to constantly keep fueling it with more and more knowledgeable materials- books been the most combustible.

So back to the book I was talking about.

"WORK FROM HOME: How to Get a Remote Job Online and Succeed at It"

Wouldn't you want to make some money on the side while you chill at home?

If your answer is Yes. Then this book is for you.

Here's a sneak peek into the book's contents
This book took the author under a month to put together with no-fluff content that will answer your burning questions about getting a remote job. Again, I really don’t think there’s any other easy-to-digest book on how to land a remote job as comprehensive as this. Here's what's included:

PART ONE: The Unique Benefits of Working Remotely
The first part goes into some benefits of remote work. It presented the 9 unique benefits of a remote job. If you are like me. I bet you’ll love this section – knowing what a job can offer you before you actually get it.

PART TWO: How To Land Your First Remote Job
It went deeply and systematically into the four steps you’ll need to follow to land a remote job. Please don’t skip anything here if you are serious about getting a job that will make you ‘location independent’ and grant you the freedom to not only live a life most people dream of, but a life that will make you inspire others.

PART THREE: How to Be Successful at Working Remotely
Finally in part 3, the book gives you the tools and strategies you’ll need to navigate your journey after you’ve secured a job. Learning how to maintain a job you secured will make a huge difference in your career. What’s the point of going through all the trouble of securing a remote job only to lose weeks or months after?
So, what are you waiting for? Oh, the price!?

Yes, we'll get to that in a sec.

But first...

27/04/2021

One reason many people miss out on opportunities is because of HESITATION. They remain double-minded.

To do or not to do?
To invest or not to invest?
To buy or not to buy?

The wise preacher in the book of Ecclesiastes said, "He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap." (Ecclesiastes 11:5 KJV).

This suggests that anyone who is waiting for perfect conditions before doing anything will never get anything done.

There will always be uncertainty in the real world.
There will always be risk in business.

But those who excel, seize opportunities when they present themselves.

Don't allow yourself to be stagnant in your business because of fear.

Take the leap! Trust God and seize the moment.

I am in no way saying that you should blindly pursue business opportunities.

No!

What I am saying is do not allow fear to fuel your hesitation and inaction in your business.

Do your due diligence for every business. Do your feasibility study, but have a sense of urgency in your approach.

Know that opportunities are time-bound.

Now the question is, what would you do if I present you an opportunity to make money?

Would you SEIZE IT? Or would you HESITATE?

Note: A lot of people are cashing out big commissions via AFFILIATE MARKETING. And the "72 Hours Income Generator Program/Course" (72IG Program/Course) is the key to knowing how to join the team of Affiliate Marketers who are winning.
I have shared stories and testimonies of some these affiliate marketers who have become millionaires from simply selling other people's products via the Expertnaire platform.
If you haven't read any of these testimonies and you are willing to, just to clear your doubt, DM ME and ask for their testimonies.

Now I ask again.

What would you do if I present you an opportunity to make money via Affiliate Marketing?

DM ME NOW IF YOU ARE WILLING TO SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITY.

REMEMBER: HESITATION has cost countless business people an untold number of divine opportunities.

*Seize The Moment! SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITIES!*

SEND ME A DM NOW.
