WHAT SAYS THE TIME?

The last time the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards (NBMA) was held, was in 2016, that’s 8 years ago. And I’v never stopped checking the time for the 7th Edition as all eyes are on the supposed yearly event solely designed to celebrate and honour neglected broadcasters, who have, at one time or the other, brought smiles to the faces of millions of Nigerians. What is worth doing, they say, is worth doing well. I have failed severally, I’v been discouraged but all the lessons learnt have contributed to the phenomenon growth of NBMA.

Despite the dearth of sponsors, I and my small team moved on to inaugurate the first ever award that was strictly for the people in the electronic media.
Some of the flaws and critiques about previous editions gingered us to plan a more elaborate event for the broadcasters. Considering the number of Radio and TV stations in the country added to the fact that each has its own followership, I stand to be corrected if I say that organizing awards for this category of professionals is a Herculean task!

Even as at today, we cannot boast of any major sponsor, yet we are undeterred in our quest of hosting a successful event this year. However, as we continue to look for prospective sponsors and partners from government, well-meaning stakeholders and corporate organizations, we are very determined to make NBMA a permanent event to celebrate broadcasters. As I’m looking forward to the , this is to say THANK YOU’ to my family, friends, fans and followers who have been supporting the dream since 2010. Stay blessed. I beg, what says the time?-

Nigerian First Female TV Presenter In Africa, Anike Agbaje-Williams Is 87

Nigeria's pioneer newsreader Anike Agbaje-Williams Born 23rd October 1936, née Kuforiji, was the first female television staff announcer and broadcaster in Nigeria and Africa's first woman broadcaster. Agbaje-Williams was a pioneer staff of WNTV, which was the first television station in Nigeria, she was also the first female broadcaster of the station. She rose to become a producer and director of programmes at the television station before retiring in 1986.

The earlier you understand the differences between a BROADCASTER, On-Air Personality and TV/radio programme presenter the better!

A broadcaster does not need to dress or sound like an artiste to anchor an entertainment programme. In fact, it's wrong! The fame that comes with the voice makes you an On-Air Personality not a broadcaster!
Experience and technical-know-how, distinguished a broadcaster from an On-Air Personality.
That you anchor a TV/Radio programme doesn't make you a broadcaster. That's fact!
You know something is wrong when a broadcaster start to wear earrings, multiple necklaces, and wear cloths/hairstyle that synonymous with artistes.

Most On-Air Personalities often create unique identities, professionalism makes a broadcaster. Most TV presenters of today are more of good looks than brains and most Radio presenters of today are more of foreign accents than brain, diction and voice. -
