PAPA AND SPIRITUAL DAUGHTER

“It’s disheartening… I was shattered.” - Anyim Veronica

The fresh law graduate poured out her heart online in a new post over how Pastor Paul Enenche disgraced her during her testimony. Her Facebook post melted hearts. Her new post below.

“It's disheartened because I couldn't speak English like lawyers. I was labeled a liar for mistakenly saying B.Sc instead of LLB. "Actually I graduated with a Third Class at NOUN. "The rejected stone can become the cornerstone. We're reminded not to look down on anyone. U can't imagine what I endured throughout the service. How shattered I must have felt to be disgraced by my spiritual leader in such a manner?”

PRESS STATEMENT

PURGE YOURSELF OF GREED FOR POWER, OMEHIA TELLS WIKE

Former Gov of Rivers State Sir Celestine Omehia has called on the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to reduce his propensity for power and greed and allow Governor Siminalayi Fubara to do his work. This undying inclination for power is tormenting him and serving him unstable moments.

Omehia made this assertion in a statement issued today in Port Harcourt in response to the live television interview which the former Gov of Rivers State and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike hosted in Abuja recently.

In the said interview, Wike described Omehia and other PDP Leaders in Rivers State who declared support for the administration of Gov Sim Fubara and President Bola Tinubu last week as "expired politicians and buccaneers"

He described Wike's uncontrolled outbursts as product of a confused mind, Omehia said that Wike's anger is that his ambition of a 3rd tenure has crsahed and the people of Rivers State have realized that his quest for power is personal and not for the interest of Rivers state or the south south at large as claimed.

"The FCT Minister thought that he would continue to control and abuse the resources and governance of the state but God, through the people resisted the impeachment plot by his members of the Rivers State House of Assembly", Omehia said, noting that Wike is notorious for lying against anyone, anytime and disrespects elders at will, so there is no surprise about his outburst and criticism against innocent personalities in Rivers State.

"Wike speaks from both sides of his mouth, he says something today and denies it tomorrow like a clown. I am not a buccaneer and my capacity to contribute to the growth and development of my state and country is not impaired. I wonder why he is pained by our support for the Gov and the Federal Government under President Tinubu. Does he want us to perpetually be at political war with everybody, even long after elections are over and governance taken over? Is it not madness?

Omehia noted that Wike's excesses, inconsistencies and hallucinations have reached a shameful peak and advised him to face his job in Abuja as the State is not missing his presence and nuisance value.

Signed

The Federal Government said on Thursday that it has commenced the construction of the 700km Lagos-Calabar coastal highway.

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed this in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Orji Uchenna, in Abuja

This is coming one week after the Federal Executive Council approved a contract worth N1.067 trillion for the first phase of the highway’s construction.

The works minister, addressing journalists after the council meeting, said the 47.47km dual carriageway has five lanes on each side and a train track in the middle. Umahi explained that it forms part of the 700km road spanning nine states, with two spurs leading up north, noting that the facility will be constructed with concrete.

He said the highway to be constructed using concrete technology will start from Lagos through the nine coastal routes or states up to Cross Rivers, meaning that it goes to Lagos, the Lekki Deep Seaport, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom.

Though the project was initially franchised on a public-private partnership, the paucity of funds on the contractor’s part made the minister seek the executive council’s approval to award the project.

Recall that the minister on Tuesday initiated a discussion with the African Development Bank on possible financing mechanisms to hasten the delivery of the project.

In the statement, the special adviser noted that the contractor kickstarted the project after the official handover of the first phase of the project, made up of 47.47 kilometres of dual carriageway, to Hitech Construction Company Ltd.

He, however, highly commended Hitech Construction Company Nigeria Ltd. for being reputable for quality and speedy delivery of jobs. He acknowledged their efforts in start work immediately after the contract was awarded.

He said, “They have completed some filling of 1.3 kilometres from the day the project was awarded to them. It shows the speed they are going to deploy this project. Within a couple of weeks, we awarded the project to them, they mobilised a lot of dredging equipment, and you can see that they have recovered 1.3 kilometres of section one of the phase.”

According to the statement, the former Ebonyi governor visited project sites at the Queen’s Drive Ikoyi, the Third Mainland Bridge top deck, the underwater, the Eko Bridge and the Carter Bridge and expressed the determination of the Federal Government to carry out a comprehensive rehabilitation of the bridges which he said are critical links between the Mainland and the Island of Lagos, the economic hub of the country. These repairs are expected to cover not only the top of the bridge but also the under-bridge works.

He said, “At the Third Mainland bridge, we have three or four critical elements to be rehabilitated. The first one is the deck, and the deck is about 11 kilometres. That is a dual carriageway, including the ramps, and it has been done by CCECC. They have done very beautiful jobs, but we have not concluded. Before the end of March, we’ll be concluding the asphalt milling and the asphalting.

He further stated, “But that is not all our commitment there. We are installing the guardrails, we are replacing the lights with solar lights, we are going to put some decorative lights too, and then we are going to put CCTV cameras both on top and under the bridge to check insecurity and illegal mining of sand, which is causing scouring on the piles and the pipe bits. The second job is that some sections of the slab are deflected, so we have gotten an expert to understudy the level of deflection.

“That’s the tendons of the slab that deflected. And so we are going to cut open the slabs, enter and then look at it, scoop it, and then reinstate the tendons of the slab. There’s nothing to worry about. It’s been done at an Eko bridge by Buildwell. So this one is not a threat to us at all.”

He commended what Julius Berger Nigeria Ltd. is doing already, which is the restoration of deteriorated piers and pier caps, and said the piles, which he also inspected, were the most critical of the work to be done.

DISCLAIMER!!!

THE INDEPENDENT PEOPLE OF KALABARI ARE NOT IGBO PEOPLE.

As promoters of our great culture it's necessary to defend the image of our tradition and culture when it's been distorted. Kalabari are not in anyway related to the Igbo People.

Kalabari TV being a huge platform that promotes the Kalabari Culture shouldn't be promoting such misinformed videos attributing the people of Kalabari to be Igbo people.

The Kalabari people of the Ijaw extraction are an independent people and we are not in anyway part of the Igbo or Igboid heritage.

WHO ARE THE KALABARI PEOPLE?

The Aboriginal Kalabari people are from Elem Kalabari (Old Shipping Port), it is the independent traditional state of the Kalabari people, an Ijaw ethnic group, in the Niger River Delta. It is recognized as a traditional state in what is now Rivers State, in southern region of Nigeria.

The founder and first ruler of this great Kingdom is A ruler named King Owuere Daba he was said to have brought the slave trade to Kalabari and Bonny, and to have founded the houses of Duke Monmouth and Duke Africa. This happened some time before 1699, since James Barbot records giving presents to Duke Monmouth of Kalabari in that year.

Kalabari became an entrepôt of the Atlantic slave trade, mainly selling slaves purchased from Igboland, further to the north.

After King Owu-ere Daba King Amakiri the first ruled over this Kingdom and his Offsprings have been ruling along with other princes of the various communities that makes up the Kalabari Kingdom.

HISTORY ON HOW MANY COMMUNITIES AND MOST IGBO SLAVES BECAME HEAD OF WAR CANOE HOUSES IN KALABARI KINGDOM!!!

What is oat of allegiance? it's an Oath whereby a citizen acknowledges a duty of allegiance and swears loyalty towards the new host country or monarch. In republics, modern Oaths are sworn to the country in general or the country's constitution.

Now back to the main subject matter. About Kalabari dispersal from Elem AMA. KALABARI was not just a one city state. prior to the formation of the Kalabari kingdom by King AMAKIRI. The towns of Tombia, Ifoko,ABISSA,KULA,KE,SANGAMA et al were existing and speaking this same language we now call KALABARI but they were not KALABARIS. Tombia was an Ibani group that splitted from the ancient Nyakpo family half of which became FINIMA in Bonny. ABALAMA people were IBANI people from Bonny and many others like that are now KALABARIS were originally IBANI CLANS. The Ibani and KALABARI speak 100% similar dialect and could be said to be a one people. these set of people swore allegiance to the Amakiri stool and they where inducted and made Kalabari indigenes.

They where divided into compounds with war canoe houses,The compounds are a grouping of related family members, their wives (both Kalabari and non-Kalabari), subjects, workers, ex-slaves (who got automatically assimilated into the Kalabari society through various native ceremonies and change of name to a Kalabari one) - by the way we don't call anybody a 'slave' (omoni bo), never! It is a derogatory term in Kalabari society. same applied to the Igbo slaves that where later freed, most of them gained dominance and became head of the war canoe houses that bought them, just like how it happened with King Jaja of Opobo.

Jaja never identified as an Igbo man till he died though he was Igbo by blood. He learnt Ibani Ijaw Language and spoke same to his children but it seemed the Igbo language was more easier to communicate since it was a major language used in trading with the Igbos who sale there brothers as slaves back then in Bonny.

Our culture was very much influenced by europeans hence our creole formation. we are creole in terms of our dialect and blood. our original ijawness was adulterated. the Kalabari patriach married and adopted a lot of IGBOS and set a lot of igbo slaves free to be parts of the Kalabari Ijaws. these Igbos influenced our language a lot making the Kalabari dialect a bit Igbotic, when KALABARI want to say it belongs to Telema we say Ouwu Teleme nyeh, Ouwu is pure Igbo language, OUWU NKECHI, OUWU NGOZI . ( IT IS NKECHI, IT IS NGOZI). The rest of the dialect is embedded in portuguese, french and dutch. But the ijaw grammar in us still remain strong.

WE ARE NOT IGBOS, WE ARE KALABARI AND WE ARE IJAW RELATED.

MAJOR PROBLEMS FACED BY IJAWS OF THE WESTERN NIGER RIVER DELTA.

The major problem Ijaws of the Western Niger Delta region are facing is Identity crisis or a collective name to Identify all Ijaw clans in the Western Niger Delta Region.

These Ijaw people were Identified by different names at different times such as Kumoni, Oru, Izon, Ujo, Tobu-Otu, Benni(Otu), western Ijaw and by the collective name of the various clans/kingdoms

When this Ijaw clans and kingdoms moved on a quest to be united as a single entity even before Lord Frederick Lugard amalgamated southern and northern Nigeria in 1914, their closes neighbours such as the Yorubas, Benins and Itsekiris who are to support the Ijaw Idea of unity are the once fighting against the unity of Ijaw people and deliberately fighting to eliminate Ijaws of the Western Niger River Delta.
This fight against Ijaws is the reason why Western Ijaw Division was created in 1932. The creation of western Ijaw was not inclusive to all Ijaw clans of the Western Niger River Delta because the western Ijaw Division was created only from the Forcados district of the Delta province

Population census of western region of Nigeria In 1952, there were about 27,342 ijaws in Warri province, 12,228 in Okitipupa division, 5,974 in Benin division and 3,925 in colony province (Lagos)
All these Ijaws were to be added to the western Ijaw Division which was created in 1932 but were deliberately balkanized because the immediate neighbours of the Ijaw people never wants a united IJAW people. Dividing Ijaw land to suite themselves.
As an IJAW people we will never stop clamouring for unity until our people are all constituted as a single entity.

The unity of Ijaws into single entity give birth to Western Ijaw (division), Toru-Ebe (State Creation), and the new movement ADOO (land and people of the Ijaws of the Western Niger River Delta Region).
Our unity is our topmost priority for over 110 years now and we will not stop until our Aim is achieved even if it's going to take us another 100years we will stand our ground from generations to generations.

The Rivers State Elders’ Council has vehemently opposed the renewed threat of impeachment against Governor Siminalayi Fubara by 27 members of the state House of Assembly purportedly loyal to ex-governor Nyesom Wike. The council asserts that these lawmakers lack legitimacy due to their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, contending that they have lost their seats.
This latest impeachment threat follows a series of political upheavals and power struggles within the state, including Fubara's survival of a previous impeachment plot last October. The tension escalated after a press briefing where former PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, and members of the PDP Rivers State Presidential Campaign Council declared support for Fubara, heavily criticizing Wike. Assembly Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, accused Governor Fubara of consistently flouting the law, particularly by disregarding the resolution to present the 2024 budget afresh to the 27 lawmakers. Amaewhule warned that Fubara's actions could lead to impeachment.

In response, High Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, a member of the Rivers Elders’ Council, dismissed the impeachment threat as mere "ranting," emphasizing that the legality of the pro-Wike lawmakers is being challenged in court. Sara-Igbe underscored the importance of legal processes and stressed that until the court makes a ruling, the status quo remains. He said, "Let them do whatever they like but I can assure you everything they are doing is illegal,” The PUNCH reports. He further criticized the legitimacy of the eight-point resolution signed by Fubara, indicating that all actions stemming from it are deemed illegal until resolved in court.

NEWS ON PLANNED ATTACK ON MILITARY FACILITIES IS FAKE
1.The Ijaw National Congress (INC) has described as misleading and unfounded, claims that Ijaw youths are planning coordinated attacks on military locations and facilities across the Niger Delta.

2.President of the INC, the parent Ijaw social cultural organisation, Prof Benjamin Okaba was reacting to an alleged intel report directing military formations in the region to be on high alert described the claim as fake and that there was no such plan or any reason or justification that warrants contenplating such devilish plan by the Ijaw Youth Council, and any other organization in IJAW land .

3.Okaba in a statement said: “As the umbrella organisation of Ijaw people worldwide, our attention has been drawn to an orchestrated report aimed at pitching the Federal Government and military against the Ijaw nation.

4.We have carried out diligent investigation and found out that the report is not only fake but a figment of the imagination of those who concocted and generated this delicate, devlish and unfortunate idea. According to him,the region needs peace, tranquility and development now more than ever .we are all united as Ijaw people in condemning the dastardly acts of the criminals who killed the officers and men of the Nigerian Army.

5.We, however, wish to reiterate as in our earlier statements on this subject matter that the military should be more professional in fishing out the culprits. More damages should not be inflicted on the innocent indigenes and that justice be tampered with mercy to the extent of exempting the innocent citizens of the affected communities in their reprisal operations.
6.We also wish to use this opportunity to warn and advice members of the politicial class within and outside the region that they should not take their desperate politics beyond the level of decency.

7.The originators of this evil and very dangerous plot are the true enemies of the Ijaw nation. He therefore calls on all well meaning Nigerians and particularly the military authorities to disregard this fake, cheap blackmail and unfounded rumour and treat it as such.
