Ekweremadus and their doctor, Obinna Obeta, were sentenced by a judge at the Central Criminal Court also known as Old Bailey.
Having been convicted for Organ TRAFF!cking in March, the judge today, May 5, sentenced the former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu to Nine years and eight months in jail, his wife Beatrice Ekweremadu to four years and six months while Obeta bagged 10 years in jail.
From what the judge said, Ekweremadu will spend about 5/6 years in prison (2/3 of his 9+ year prison sentence) while his wife will spend about 2 years in prison (one half of her 4+ years in prison).

Late Rico Swavey's Mum Begs Govt, Hospitals To Attend To Patients First Without Considering Money
Halima Hassan, the mother of late Big Brother Naija housemate, Patrick Fakoya aka Rico Swavey, who died on October 13, appealed to hospitals to attend to patients first without considering money and also the government to fix terrible roads in order to avoid future accidents.
She spoke on Thursday during the unveiling of a foundation in his name.
She said, “I wasn’t happy when I saw him. No one would want to bury their children while they are still here. Unfortunately it happened to me and fortunately, I will use this to appeal to the government, the hospitals. All I’m doing will not bring Rico back. It’s just for the future.
“For the hospitals, any accident, trauma accidents like Rico’s, they should put money aside and treat the person first. I don’t wish this on anybody. And they should try to do the roads, the roads are terrible. Even if it’s the street lights, whatever they can do, to help the young ones.
“We all have young people moving here and there, hustling for their lives. We don’t want anything to happen to them.”

Unknown gunmen have attacked the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Ifeanyi Ubah.
@goldmynetv learned that Ubah was attacked on Sunday along Enugwu-Ukwu road in Anambra State.
It was gathered that heavily armed gunmen ambushed the lawmaker’s convoy and opened fire on his cars.
However, the senator managed to escape death as his car was riddled with bullets.
It was reported that some of his aides were killed in the attack, including some police officers.
