ALEX IKWECHEGH STANDS FOR THE COMMON MAN ONCE MORE!

The member representing Aba north and South federal constituency in the federal house of representatives , Hon. Alex Ifeanyi Ikwechegh ( Onyeocha n'Aba) has asked the NAFDAC to suspend ban of alcoholic drinks in sachets and pet bottles.

Herbal alcoholic drinks in sachets and pet bottles like: Odogwu bitters, pasa bitters, D general bitters, etc. mostly produced by Igbo entrepreneurs were banned not quite long ago by NAFDAC.

Watch the video attached below to see how Hon. Ikwechegh informed the NAFDAC of the damage the ban will cost the entrepreneurs and their employers at this point in time the country's economy is bleeding profusely.

Education is a pivotal tool for any society to develop.
It was a great and a memorable event on Wednesday 7th of February 2024 when Hon. Chief Kalu Kingsley Okeh, founder , Ogbajie foundation continued his philanthrophy and benevolence to the good people of Okon - Aku in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State. This was geared toward promoting and encouraging education in the community . The event which took place at Okon- Central School had in attendance students from different schools in the community. The students were given free writting materials such as exercise books , pencils and pen.

Speaking with the team of the Unity Magazine ,Hon. Kingsley pointed out that he was touched by the economic hardship faced by parents who have their children in schools as this gave rise to the distribution of the free writting materials by his foundation to cushion and ameliorate the effect of the hardship. Hon. Kingsley further stated that the foundation have embarked on numerous projects which includes free skill acquisition training for students and youths in the community, installation of solar street lights and handing over of some structures ( OBU) to the community. He further stated that he will keep on encouraging students to go to school in the community, he re- iterated that the teachers have a role a to play towards shaping the behavioural attitude and character of their students.
He frowned on some lackadaisical attitude of some students and teachers towards education in the community..He called on them to show more seriousness.
In his contribute, Bishop Elect Jame Kalu Obasi who was also the Chairman of the occasion stated that cleanliness is next for Godliness and called on the students to always be neat while coming to school. He also called on the students to have the fear of God In them and show more seriousness in their education. Doc.Sir Boniface Ereji stated that what ever a person wants to become in the society , education will enable the person to be better in that regards. He called on the students to recognize the important God ,respect their parents and teachers. He pointed out that prayers and hard work is the key to success .
Chief Oge Agu who spoke unbehalf of Ndi Ezie Ogo called on other well to do persons from Okon- Aku to emulate the kind benevolence of Hon Kingsley Oke....some of the schools that were attendance includes Collins Memorial School , Okon Aku, Okon Central School and Early Child Nursery and Primary School Okon .

Chief Obinna Godwin Ewuzie has commenced the grading of some major roads inside the market and clearing of gutters . Speaking with the team of the unity magazine, the market chairman who is an importer of different vehicles and motor spare parts pointed out that Dr Alex Chioma Otti's led adminstration in Abia State started in a very good note by constructing and reconstructing the major roads in Aba.The business mogul further stated that good and accessible road network is one of the major challenges the market has been facing , thus giving rise for the construction of the roads inside the market and clearing of the gutters . The market Chairman further called on the Abia State Government to come to their rescue because of the hardship some of their traders are facing since their shops got burnt since December last year as the government made a firm promise to assist those traders . The chairman further stated that the traders will keep on supporting the Dr Alex Chioma Otti's led administration by obeying all government rules and paying their taxes ..

The Appeal Court affirmation of Chief Alex Ikwechegh as the rightful winner of the election is the reaffirmation of the popular mandate they bestowed on him on the February 25th , 2023 general election.

It is no longer news that traders at Kent Street Market , Mosque Street Market , Asa Road , Hospital Road , Azikiwe Road , Etche Road , Pound Road Market, Ehi Road Market , Pound Road , Cameroon Road Market , Market Road Market and Jubilee Road have been ordered by the Abia State government to relocated to suitable and government approved markets and malls.. This was because the menace is not compatible with the rebuilding and re-juvenation Aba initiative by the Executive Governor of Abia State , Dr Alex Chioma Otti . Indeed this is a welcome development as many Abians have applauded the government for the initiative.
In Aba today , the Enyimba Mall outlet Shop presents a very well condusive environment for traders in these affected areas.

This is an exclusive Interview with His Eminence .Apostle Emmanuel Agomuo , the immediate past chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria ( CAN) Abia State Chapter.

Sir can we know you ?

I am Apostle Emmanuel Agomuo, the immediate past CAN chairman in Abia State . I was the chairman for two tenures but they have changed the constitution. The new constitution stipulates only one tenure of five years for the CAN chairman . We passed a lot of challenges in the last administration. It is very unfortunate that it is only in Abia State that there is no ecumenical center in the entire South Eastern part of Nigeria. During the last administration, I approached the governor and pleaded with him to give us one of the abandoned government buildings for the ecumenical centers he promised that he will do it for us but it never saw that light of the day. The Governor , Dr Alex Chioma Otti OFR has promised that he will do it for us before the end of the four years. One of my core responsibilities was to establish a very cordial relationship between the christians and the muslims which I have done effectively. I was once a co chairman to settle the issue at Lokpanta . I exhibited my responsibilities with all sincerity of purpose and I ensured that there was unity and harmony between the host community and those doing business there . I am no longer the CAN chairman but I am still working for the best interest of the state .

What can you say about the governor's 100 days in office ?

I will say that with this 100 days in office , he has started fulfilling most of them as workers are now getting their pay as at when due ..I am not a pensioner or a civil servant but the few of them that I have asked who are my church members have told me that they are now receiving their salaries on time ..I have also seen that works have started in some major roads in Aba . Roads mostly are not our major problems in Abia State . Our problem in Abia State is hunger. We have so many youths who are not working. Most parents spend their money to training their ward in the university for up to five years but you will realized that after graduation, this child will not have any work to do , this is the reason why we have pockets of crimes in Abia State. When I met the governor , I told him that their are ghost workers and there are people who are due for retirement but they keep on reducing their age . This has made our children who are qualified to be in the civil servant not to find any work to do . We can not use 100 days to access the government of Governor Alex Otti .I know that their is a lot of appointments to be made especially in the board areas . I want to encourage him to appoint those who have the capacity to move the state forward. In the area of pilgrimage, the governor have promised us that he will sponsor some of us . I will only access this government at the end of two years , I can not start now to condemn what he is doing.

Under your leadership as the CAN chairman in Abia State , how many persons were able to go for pilgrimage from Abia through the State government ?

The first approval we got was for 15 persons in 2018 and the following year , the government made approval for 35 persons . We are still owing the CAN board 35 million naira because when the approval came , the Account General as at then did not pay us the complete money approved by the governor.

What is your opinion on the relieve of duties from workers who were employed from January 2023 by the past administration?

There is a lot of corruption in our civil service system . The problems is that if the past governor signed a waiver of 20 persons to be employed , the people there will add extra 200. This has happened in so many ministries.For example, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu gave me a waiver for 6 persons to be employed from CAN but I am so shocked and surprised that the persons that are working through the can waiver is more than 6 . We have to get things done properly in Abia State if we really want this state to progress .

APGA holds members and stakeholders meeting in Abia . ..

It was a gathering of the crem dela crem at Chidi Nwosu Event Center Umuahia when APGA stakeholders and members gathered to brainstorm on the headway for the party after the awful performance of the party in the 2023 general election which saw the party winning only one senatorial seat in Abia State .
In his speech, the State Chairman of the party Hon. Chief Emmanuel Egwu pointed out that the gathering was geared toward having good thoughtful ideas towards the growth on the party as the party is the only credible alternative in Abia State . He further stated that there is no faction in APGA and cautioned those who are parading themselves and causing disunity within the party to desist from such practises.
Also in his speech , Chief Etigwe Uwa ( SAN) ,one of APGA's major stakeholders in Abia State pointed out that the members should have trust and believe in the Chief Emmanuel Egwu's APGA leadership in Abia , he called on them to have a concerted effort towards the overall development of the party . He called on them to abide by the spirit of Onye AHALA NWANNEYA as this is pivotal key to keep them together and above all win more electoral seats in the 2027 general elections in Abia State .

In an exclusive interview with the team of the unity magazine, the party's candidate for Ohafia North State Constituency in the 2023 general election in Abia State . Mr Okocha Uchenna stated that they are rebuilding APGA to take the leadership of Abia State by 2027. He further stated that he won the 2023 election for Ohafia North State Constituency but he was rigged out . He pointed out that there was an agreement by the stakeholders of the constituency to return Hon. Mandala Obasi as their member and by 2027 , power will come back to Nkporo.
In her contribution, the APGA state woman leader ..Amb. Mrs . Iren pointed out that women are important in politics, she stated that during the elections, women are the ones that will convince their husband and children on the right candidates to vote . She stated that you can only find sincere follower ship in politics in the midst of women.
In his remarks, Mazi Nwankwo Ikechukwu Kelechi,. The Abia State Youth leader of APGA pointed out that he was grateful for the thoughtful idea of the leadership of the party to host such a gathering of the APGA faithfuls. Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, alongside Abia State Governor, Alex Otti and the party’s National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, will be in Owerri, Imo State capital today (Tuesday) as the party commences its governorship campaign.

The campaign, set for the upcoming November 11 governorship election, is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, August 22 in Owerri.

The Achonu/Nwulu Campaign Organisation disclosed this in a statement released on Monday.

Party enthusiasts, dubbed “Obidients,” are expected in large numbers to show support as Senator Athan Achonu and deputy governorship candidate, Tony Nwulu, kickstart the campaign.

Promising a significant event, Achonu hinted at a rally reminiscent of Peter Obi’s monumental “One-Million-Man march” during his presidential run.

He mentioned that both Obi and Otti, along with other party leaders, aim to make a substantial impact at the event.

Achonu plans to reveal his comprehensive manifesto at the rally, urging Imo State residents to attend and hear his vision for positive change.

The manifesto focuses on navigating the current economic challenges and transitioning from consumption to production to better the state’s socioeconomic stance.

The LP governorship candidate hopes to defeat the sitting governor of the state and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hope Uzodinma.

Mr Chinonso Igboekwuna an Aba based business man and President of Decorative Building Materials Association of Aba has carried out pallative measures to assist Keke operators in Aba.
On Saturday 29th of July 2023 , the Anambra State born business mogul who trade in Aba ensured that over 500 Keke Napep Operators got a fuel of N 1000 from him at Pas Mira filling station at Aba. In an exclusive interview with the team of the unity magazine, Mr Chinonso pointed out that he was led by the spirit of God to carry out the kind gestures to the Keke Napep operators . He called on them to keep on being law abiding .He advised them to drive with caution to avoid accidents as he observed that some of them are on higher purchase and in a bit to meet up with their daily returns they drive recklessly. Mr Chinonso also thanked and appreciated the C.E.O of Pas Mira Oil for assisting 100 Keke Napep operators with N 1000 fuel which was also added to embark on the free fuel distribution.
In his contribution, Mr Ownuka Kalu one of the beneficiaries of the free fuel distribution called on other market leaders and politicians to emulate the philanthropic gesture of Mr Chinonso Igboekwuna, he stated that he was impressed that an individual can remember the poor masses and thanks God for being one of the beneficiaries of the free fuel which was distributed by Mr Chinonso Igboekwuna. In his contribution, Mr Nnabugo Aniegbu aka Bublashy pointed out that when he heard about the free fuel which will be distributed to Keke Napep operators in Aba over the news , his heart was gladdened as this was a great gesture to the Keke Napep operators. Oborevwori visits family of two-year-old killed by NDLEA officials

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori on Monday visited the family of two-year-old Ivan Omorhiakogbe killed by stray bullets from operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at Okpanam area of the State capital on Thursday, 13th July.

Oborevwori visited the family at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, where the younger sibling, Eromonsele, a one-year-old, is receiving treatment for bullet injuries sustained in his left eye.

He commiserated with the family on the unfortunate demise of Ivan and promised that all efforts would be made to bring the culprits to book.

The Governor said that the Police were already investigating the matter and would make its findings known to the general public at the end of the inquiry.

Oborevwori said: "When we heard the unfortunate news, we immediately issued a statement calling on the NDLEA authorities and the Police Command to quickly investigate the circumstances, which led to the death of your son and injury to his younger sibling.

"On behalf of the Government and people of Delta State, we commiserate with you and your family over the loss of your son, Ivan.

"We have so much confidence in the police and as you know, they are carrying out their investigation; they will not make the outcome public until they are through with their investigations. So be rest assured that the culprits would be brought to book.

"Once again, I commiserate with your family for this loss and am happy that Eromonsele is recovering," he said.

He commended the medical personnel at the hospital for their proactiveness in treating the younger sibling, assuring that the State Government would pick up all the medical bills related to the incident.

"Let me also appreciate the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba for the proactive action they have taken so far since the incident occurred.

"I had sent people here earlier to find out what they are doing and I am happy that they were able to save Eromonsele's life and I know that he will come out strong.

"The State Government will foot the bills for the hospital treatment, so no money should be taken from the family," Governor Oborevwori directed.

Also speaking, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass assured the Governor and the family of the Command's commitment to ensuring thorough investigation into the matter.

"Your Excellency, we will do our best to unravel the mystery behind the whole incident. We have sent messages to the NDLEA and they have responded and in no distant time we will come out with a report that would be made known to members of the public.

"Once again, we commiserate with you and we pray that God Almighty will give you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

"For Eromonsele, we are praying that God will lay His healing hands upon him to perfect his health," CP Abass said.

Briefing the Governor earlier, Head of Opthalmology Department at the hospital, Dr Ernest Ogbedo, said they have successfully covered the eye to prevent infections from entering it, adding that further surgeries would be carried out on the eye.

"We have done one surgery but the child is going to need some other surgeries because there is an eye injury which the doctors went through and covered the injury.

"We did an x-ray first and luckily there was no bullet pellets around but we are going to carry out further investigation to see the extent of the injury.

"We have succeeded in covering the eye so that there will be no infections and other diseases to the eye," Dr Ogbedo said.
