Nigerian Man Escapes Through The Bush During Wedding Ceremony In Imo State Over Too Much Billing

There was a mild drama as bridegroom escaped through the bush out of engagement ceremony in Imo State due to extortion.

According to Igwe Chibueze Ogadimma who shared the post, he paid N1,500,000 to cater for food, tents, chairs and a public address system.

He was also made to set aside N100,000 as the bride price that the two families had agreed on.

Biobelemoye David was asked to add N50,000 to the bride price because he had already impregnated the girl.

He was slapped with a N10,000 fine for making a detour to the wrong path and ending up in a different homestead other than the girl's.

He was also asked to pay N15,000 to appease the elders who had become tired of waiting for his arrival.

Drama however ensued when twelve girls covered in loose robes from head to toe were paraded before Biobelemoye David and he was asked to guess who his fiancée was.

He pointed at the wrong woman and that led to yet another fine of N15,000.

The decisive moment specifically was when the elders demanded for a refund of the total sum of N850,000 to repair the father's old car that knock€d engine

Nigerian Police Dismiss Officers Demanding Money From Dutch Tourist In Oyo.

The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed two special constabularies who attempted to extort a Dutch power bike cyclist.

The dismissal was announced by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Hamzat Adebola, at the police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan on Thursday

The two special constabularies identified as Jimoh Lukmon and Kareem Fatai, were captured in a viral video soliciting money from the Dutch tourist.

The incident occurred while they were on duty along the Moniya-Iseyin Road, and the tourist informed them that she was traveling to Abuja.

President Tinubu Approves 50% Slash In Inter-State Transport Fares Nationwide

President Bola Tinubu has approved a 50 percent discount for inter-state road travels and 100 percent for train trips for Nigerians wishing to travel home to celebrate Christmas with their families.

Dele Alake, minister of solid minerals, disclosed the development on Wednesday while briefing state house correspondents.

He said the discount will run from December 21 to January 4, 2024.

“In recognition of the economic situation of the country which he is working very hard to turn around, President Tinubu wants Nigerians to be able to travel within Nigeria to wherever they want to go to meet their loved ones without the extra-burden of paying exorbitantly for inter-state public transportation,” he said.

“It is in this wise that the Federal Government is announcing, beginning from tomorrow, a special discounted holiday season fare on road transport and zero-fare by rail across Nigeria.

“What this means is that from tomorrow, Nigerians willing to travel can board public transport via minibuses, luxury buses at 50% discount of current cost and all our train services on the routes the trains currently serve at zero cost to and fro on their travels this holiday season.”

Tell Tinubu feedback from Nigerians, not what he hears at the villa –Fayemi

Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti state, has asked the All Progressives Congress (APC) to tell President Bola Tinubu the true state of the country.

Fayemi spoke on Tuesday in Abuja at the public presentation of the book: ‘APC & Transition Politics’, authored by Salihu Lukman, former vice-chairman of the party in the north-west.

The former Ekiti governor noted that the APC should fulfill its manifesto and not be “a spectator” in policy making.

“I am happy that our chairman is here. This is the party that should not be a spectator in policy making,” Fayemi said.

This party should be the one to project the manifesto of the party. This party should be the one to tell Mr. President that this is the feedback from the communities and constituencies out there, not what he is hearing in the villa where he is locked up.

“All of us have occupied public office and we know how it can be. I am happy our chairman has confirmed he has read the book.

‘It should be a compulsory read for all members of the NWC and executives at the state and ward levels so that we can begin the rebuilding process of our organic party to which I believe Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is committed.

In his remarks, Ganduje said the ruling party needs to be well-structured and repositioned.

“It is important to document issues. APC as a political party is the ruling party,” Ganduje said.

“It is an institution which should be well-structured and repositioned whereby it serves a two-way traffic – first, as an institution that is in charge of recruitment of appointive and elective officials and also as an institution that is concerned about the implementation of the party’s manifesto from the ward level to the national level.

“And it is an institution that must answer to the demands of the people in order to be transmitted to the ruling government for implementation.

Move to produce iron rods from Ajaokuta for infrastructure underway — MINISTER

THE Ministries of Steel Development, and Works, yesterday, disclosed of their plan to commence production of iron rods from Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited for infrastructural development across the country.

Minister of Steel Development, Shuaibu Audu, made the disclosure after a joint meeting with the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi on a courtesy visit to him at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, along with representatives of the United Bank for Africa, UBA, on plans to kick-start the Light Steel Mill Section of the Ajaokuta Complex on commercial terms.

According to Audu, his ministry was to partner the Federal Ministry of Works to revive the Light Steel Mill Section of the Ajaokuta Steel Plant for the production of iron rods to be used in constructing infrastructure across the country.

He added that following the approval of Mr. President, the ministry was set to commence a collegiate approach to reviving the Steel Plant by exploring all realistic means.

He explained that the Light Steel Mill Section of Ajaokuta, once revived, would produce iron rods for the construction of infrastructure in the country.

Audu commended the move by the Works Minister for the collaboration in the revival efforts of Ajaokuta Steel Plant and the steel sector in the country, and described his approach as extremely innovative, and added that the Ministry have a solution to revitalize Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited using a collegiate approach.

On his part, the Minister of Works, Senator Umahi, while commending his colleague, Audu, pledged his support for the resuscitation of the moribund plant, which he said has the capacity to create thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities for Nigerians.

No price is too much for peace to reign- Gov Fubara breaks silence after Abuja peace meeting

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has said there is no price too great for him to pay for peace to reign in the state. The governor made this known while addressing a special convocation ceremony at the Pamo University of Medical Sciences on Tuesday, December 19.

Recall that he He and Nyesom Wike feud split lawmakers in the House with 27 of them defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a party in whose central government Wike currently serves as minister. It also saw 9 commissioners of his cabinet tendering their resignation.

Blessing of same-$ex union: Ignore Pope, He’s Ant!-christ - Activist Tells African Catholic Communities.

An Imo State born human rights activist and author, Comrade Paul Njoku, has urged African Catholic communities to ignore Pope Francis after he formally mandated priests to bless same-$ex unions.

Recall that a new document on Monday, explained a radical change in Vatican policy by insisting that people seeking God’s love and mercy shouldn’t be subject to “an exhaustive moral analysis” to receive it.

Though, the latest development represents a significant departure from previous church teaching, which argued against blessing same-$ex unions. When it comes to blessing same-$ex relationships, the Pope believes priests should be flexible.

The document from the Vatican’s doctrine office elaborates on a letter Francis sent to two conservative cardinals that was published in October. In that preliminary response, Francis suggested such blessings could be offered under some circumstances if they didn’t confuse the ritual with the sacrament of marriage.

The Vatican said the church must shy away from “doctrinal or disciplinary schemes, especially when they lead to a narcissistic and authoritarian elitism whereby instead of evangelizing, one analyzes and classifies others, and instead of opening the door to grace, one exhausts his or her energies in inspecting and verifying.”

But speaking on this new church policy, activist Paul in a statement he made available to NewsBand Newspaper, said Pope Francis is nothing but an anti-christ.

He said since Pope Francis was elected in 2013, he has made concerted effort to persuade over 1.35 billion members of the Catholic fold to embrace LGBT people without considering moral doctrine.

While calling for the resignation of Pope Francis, Mr Paul urged African Catholic communities to ignore his same-$ex marriage rhetoric.

Part of the statement read, “Pope Francis is obviously a product of anti-christ for repeatedly promoting same $ex blessings. He should be told that animals don’t even practice or promote gay practice. Since his election in 2013, he has recklessly tried to make the more than 1.35billion – member church more welcoming to LGBT people without considering moral doctrine

“He should resign as a Pope, confess to God with penance and repent. African Catholic communities should ignore his $hameless philosophy and technicality on same $ex practice as President Joe Biden has deeply influenced him without reservation.

“Jesus Christ did not bless and promote sin. If he did, S***m won’t have been burnt up for this same issue. The Pope has demonstrated spiritual and physical weakness and it is unfortunate some healthy beings are standing in defense of this obvious abomination and blunder ignorantly promoted by the Pope.

“I see emerging of protestant catholic in coming days if actually they still want to answer church of God and not the other way round.”

I’ve Been Getting Huge Offers To Stop Condemning Tinubu’s Govt – Peter Obi

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has said he will not stop being the face of the opposition in the country.

Naija News reports that the former Governor of Anambra State made this known on Sunday night while speaking on a Twitter space interaction, Parallel Facts.

Obi stated that he has been getting mind-blowing offers to stop condemning the Bola Tinubu administration, saying that he rejected the offers made.

The former governor claimed that the Tinubu government was plotting negative things against him for refusing their offers.

Obi, therefore, stated that he is ready to continue to stand and sacrifice for the right thing to be done in the country.

He said: “The offers that I’ve been getting from these people, are mind-blowing. I have refused, & they are ready to plan negative things against me! But I’m ready to continue to stand & sacrifice for the right thing.”

In a related development, Obi has declared that it is a known fact that he won the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.

Obi said the truth that he won the 2023 presidential election can’t be acknowledged, however, because Nigeria is an uncommon place, with uncommon people, where uncommon things happen.

The former Anambra State Governor, however, added that he is not desperate to be the President of Nigeria, but he’s only desperate to see Nigeria work.

Full List of Resolutions Given As Tinubu Resolves Wike/Fubara Crisis

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has brokered an agreement between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the 27 Rivers lawmakers who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC)..

This follows weeks of political tension in the state due to a face-off between the governor and his predecessor, who is the current minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The meeting, which was held at the instance of the president, saw both factions make concessions. Former governor Peter Odili was among the attendees at the closed-door meeting.

The following are the resolutions agreed:
After a meeting with all the stakeholders of Rivers State with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
The resolution are as follows:

1. ALL matters instituted in the courts by the Governor of RiversState, Sir Fubara, and his team, in respect of the political crisis in Rivers State, shall be withdrawn IMMEDIATELY

2. ALL impeachment proceedings initiated against the Governor of Rivers State by the Rivers State House of Assembly should be dropped immediately

3. The leadership of the Rivers State House of Assembly as led by the Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule shall be recognized alongside the 27 members who resigned from the PDP

4. The remunerations and benefits of ALL members of the Rivers State House of Assembly and their staff must be reinstated immediately and the Governor of Rivers State shall henceforth not interfere with the full funding of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

5. The Rivers State House of Assembly shall choose where they want to sit and conduct their legislative business without interference and/or hindrance from the Executive arm of government

6. The Governor of Rivers State, Sir Fubara, shall re-present the state budget to a properly constituted Rivers State House of Assembly

7. The names of ALL commissioners in the Rivers State Executive Council who resigned their appointments because of the political crisis in the state should be resubmitted to the House of Assembly for approval

8. There should NOT be a caretaker committee for the local governments in Rivers State. The dissolution of the Local Government administration is null and void and shall not be recognized.

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has responded to a recent comment made against him by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Akpabio had recently claimed that Peter Obi did not win the presidential election in Lagos and Ebonyi States, insisting the election was rigged in those places.

He said, “INEC must explain to us how you [Tinubu] would lose the election in Lagos during the presidential election. And Lagos was your base. In fact, one of the other explanations INEC will make to you is how you’ll win all the federal houses in Ebonyi States and we won the three Senate seats in Ebonyi State and they said you didn’t get 25 percent..”

Appearing on Parallel Fact, the former Anambra State Governor was asked to react to the comments of Akpabio about his election and Obi said he does not deal with uncommon people.

“The Senate President is an uncommon person, everything about him is uncommon. I don’t deal with uncommon people.

“I deal with common people…when uncommon people talk, common people keep quiet.

“I won the election not just in Lagos and Ebonyi, I won the elections in Nigeria. If not for Nigeria being an uncommon place we all know what happened,” Obi said.
