Making the Best of the Best 10 Days (1)

• Glorifying Allāh (by reciting Allāhu Akbar; Al-hamdu Lillâh; Lâ ilâha ill-Allâh; and SubhânaLlâh). Allāh says:

“That they might witness things that are of benefit to them (i.e., reward of Hajj in the Hereafter, and also some worldly gain from trade, etc.), and mention the name of Allāh on appointed days, over the beast of cattle that He has provided for them (for sacrifice)...” [Q 22:28]

- The Messenger of Allāh (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “There are no days greater in the sight of Allāh and in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Him than these ten days, so during this time recite a great deal of Tahleel ("La ilaaha ill-Allaah"), Takbeer and Tahmeed.” [Ahmad]

EID UL-KABIR FEEDASOUL 1442

Last year (2020), in the heat of the pandemic, many Muslim families fell below survival threshold.

DCL FeedaSoul responded by extending our feeding program to the Eidul Kabir to cushion the effect of the COVID 19 lockdown.

By the permission of Allāh, then with the help of kind hearted donors who partnered with us, we distributed 1000 family food packs at a cost of N5m, in addition to fresh meat rations from 30 Rams and 5 cows to Muslim families to make the eid memorable for them.

In Shaa Allāh, due to the huge acceptance the program received, we are planning to continue this year 2021.

We write to invite you to be part of it again this year.

Small But Might Acts (1)

`Aisha (may Allāh be pleased with her) narrated that Allāhʼs Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately and know that your deeds will not make you enter Paradise, and that the most beloved deed to Allāh is the most regular and constant even if it were little.”

NB: Ayyaamu-l-Beed fasting (the White Days: 13th, 14th, and 15th of the lunar calendar) begins tomorrow, in shaa Allāh. Fasting should not stop in Ramadhân.

Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

Breaking Fast With at Ketu

Bi Ithni Llaah, was at Jamiu Kolawole Mosque, Oyebanjo, Ketu this Thursday to feed the Jamaa'ah of the Mosque with the fasting ones as the target and, bi ithni Llaah, 50 meals were served.

On behalf of the donors, we thank Allāh for granting them the will and the privilege to make this happen. May He accept it as Ibaadah from you and us.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said “Whoever feeds the person who is breaking his fast, he will have his reward (for his fasting) without decreasing anything from the reward of the fasting person.”(Al-Tirmidhi). He also said “The best of you are those who feed others.” (Ahmad)

May these and many more be your rewards.

In Shaa Allaah, feeding continues next week. May Allaah preserve our lives beyond then upon khayr.

Q: What is the Islamic ruling on
Tawakkul?

A: Tawakkul (To rely absolutely on Allāh) is mandatory on every Muslim!

This is because Tawakkul is one of the conditions of Eeman (faith):

• “And in Allāh you must place your trust, if you are believers.” [Al-Maidah (5):23]

•Say, “He is the Most Compassionate— in Him alone we believe, and in Him alone we trust. You will soon know who is clearly astray.” [Al Mulk (67:29)]

√Remember when Musa (alayhi-s-Salaam) exhorted his people, “Seek Allah’s help and be patient. Indeed, the earth belongs to Allah alone. He grants it to whoever He chooses of His servants. The ultimate outcome belongs only to the righteous.” [Q7:128]

√Allāh affirms, "No calamity or blessing occurs on earth or in yourselves without being written in a Record before We bring it into being. This is certainly easy for Allah." [Q57:22]

•Have strong conviction that ease comes with hardship:

√Allāh reassures, "So, surely with hardship comes ease. Surely with that hardship comes more ease." [Q94:5-6]

√Exegetes have noted that Allāh mentioned 'hardship with ease' instead of 'ease after hardship' in the sense that the period of ease is so close to it as if it were a concomitant of it.

√An Arabic saying has it that: “Two eases cannot be overcome by one hardship.”

•Knowing that a great reward is with Allāh for His patient servants:

√Once Allāh promised, "Certainly those who observe patience will be given their reward in full without measure."[Q39:10]

√ On a different occasion, Allāh declares, "As for those who believe and do good, We will certainly house them in elevated mansions in Paradise, under which rivers flow, to stay there forever. How excellent is the reward for those who work righteousness!—those who patiently endure, and put their trust in their Lord!" [29:58-59]

• Be convinced that Allāh owns the dominion of the world: He gives what He wishes and denies what He wills.

Allāh says, "Whatever mercy Allah opens up for people, none can withhold it. And whatever He withholds, none but Him can release it. For He is the Almighty, All-Wise." [Q35:32]

And that is true! Where else do the blessings come from if not from our Lord, Master, and Sustainer?

"Whatever blessings you have are from Allah. Then whenever hardship touches you, to Him alone you cry for help." [Q 16:53]

Tips to Help You Master Patience (1)

•Develop the right understanding of this worldly life, especially the promises of Allāh to test man throughout his mundane existence.

Allāh says, "And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient" [Q 2:155]

Elsewhere, our Lord (Exalted is He) says, "We will surely test you until We make evident those who strive among you and are patient, and We will test your affairs." [Q47:31]

Q: Is any of these tribulations evitable?

A: No!

Q: So, what should you do in the face of hardship?

A: Practice patience!

On patience (as-Sabr) 15

Prophet Muhammad [peace be upon him] was an exemplar of patience!

•He patiently endured all harms inflicted on him by the people of Makkah for 13 solid years

•Within a single year, Allāh tested the Prophet (PBUH) with the death of his wife (Khadijah, may Allāh be pleased with her) and his uncle Abu Talib

•The same year (later known as 'Year of Sorrow'), the Messenger of Allāh (PBUH) was humiliated out of Taif, yet he was patient

•Allāh granted His beloved Messenger (PBUH) 7 children but he was made to bury six of them during his life, yet he persevered

•May the peace and blessings of Allāh be upon the son of Aaminah.

"Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace." [Q 33:56]

On patience (as-Sabr) 14

Prophet Nuh [Upon him be peace] was an exemplar of patience!

•He called his people to the worship of Allāh for 950 years but only a few people believed in him

•Whenever he invited them, they would "press their fingers into their ears, cover themselves with their clothes, persist in denial, and act very arrogantly." [Q71:7]

•Allāh passed the decree upon Nuh's people and Nuh's son was destroyed with the wrong doers. Still, he was patient!

“Peace be upon Noah among all peoples.” [Q32:109]

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “The best of you are those who feed others.”

خِيَارُكُمْ مَنْ أَطْعَمَ الطَّعَامَ

In Shaa Allaah every Friday with effect from 12th of R. Thanni 1442 (27th of November, 2020) FeedaSoul by DCL will begin her Breakfast with FeedaSoul.

Breakfast with Feedasoul is a new initiative, where for the next 20 weeks, meals will be served weekly at different mosques across Lagos State especially in vulnerable neighbourhoods.

We pray Allaah make it easy and accept it as Ibaadah from the Donors and the Organizers.

On patience (as-Sabr) 13

Prophet Ibrahim's [Upon him be peace] was an exemplar of patience!

•He was thrown in a mighty fire for calling His people to Allāh, yet he was patient

•Allāh caused him to be childless until old age, yet he was patient

•After Allāh had granted him a child, he was tested with slaughtering his only son for Allāh. Still, he was patient!

Consequently, Allāh praises Ibrahim (peace and blessings be upon him)and rewarded his unmatched steadfastness:

"Indeed, this was the clear trial. We ransomed his son with a momentous sacrifice. This is how We reward the good-doers. He was truly one of Our faithful servants." [Q 37:102-107]

"Peace be upon Ibrahim!" [Q32:109]

The Messenger of Allāh (PBUH) said, “The believer who mixes with people and bears their annoyance with patience will have a greater reward than the believer who does not mix with people and does not put up with their annoyance." [Ibn Mājah 4032]
