OLUBADAN’S CORONATION TRAFFIC ADVISORY!!!.

This is to inform the general public of traffic diversions at the under-listed routes leading to the ancient Mapo Hall, Ibadan occasioned by the official installation of the 42nd Paramount Ruler and King of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Sen.) Lekan Balogun on Friday 11th March 2022.

The routes which shall be shut by 12:00am of Thursday 10th March 2022 and reopened 12:00pm on Saturday 12th March 2022 include:

1. Beere Junction inward Mapo Hall

2. Born Photo Junction inwards Oja’ba

3. Idi-Arere Junction Inwards Oja’ba

4. Itamerin Junction inwards Mapo Hall.

While OYRTMA Men and Officers in conjunction with other sister security agencies have been adequately mobilized to direct the flow of traffic and ensure the safety of road users, the Authority has however provided the following alternative routes to vehicles intending to ply the barricaded regions;

1. Alternative route to the barricade at Beere Junction are Oranyan route, Beere-Oke Dada Route and Agben- Ogunpa route.

2. Alternative route to barricade at Born-Photos are Gege route inward Oke-Ado and Idi-Arere Route inward Molete.

3. Alternative route to the Idi-Arere blockade are Agbongbon-Kobomoje-Eleta-Oranyan routes.

4. Alternative route to the Itamerin barricade are Beere-Oje route, Agbeni-Okunpa route

We regret the inconveniences these temporary road diversions might cause motorists and commuters around the affected routes and we implore all to adhere strictly to the provisions above and cooperate with our Men and Officers to ensure a rancor free occasion.

Signed:
OYRTMA Management

Today is the day when we remember the years before and look at the possibilities before us in order to strive for an even better future. We should remember not to leave the faith of our country in the hands of our leaders alone, as it is the responsibility of everyone to make it greater. Have faith in Nigeria and happy Democracy Day!

Orompoto, The First Female Alaafin Of Oyo⁣

Orompoto was the sister of her predecessor, Eguguojo. She became the first woman to become "king" of the Oyo in the imperial era, and the first woman since the pre-imperial ruler Yeyeori. Orompoto assumed the throne because there was no male successor within her family at the time she helped drive the Nupe from Oyo in 1555. Orompoto lived in the 16th-century.⁣

Orompto was the second Oyo monarch to reign in the new capital of Igboho. Some traditions of the oral record hold that she was miraculously transformed into a man before assuming the throne there.Orompoto was responsible for leading the Oyo Empire between the years 1554 to 1562. She was the daughter of Alaafin Ofinran and the grand-daughter of Alaafin Onigbogi, both rulers of the Empire in their own time.⁣

When her father died, her brother, Prince Eguguoju became the next in line to the throne and he succeeded his father. However, he died in his young without a male successor. Her younger brothers, Prince Ajiboyede and Prince Tella were very young and as such couldn’t assume the throne at the time. As a result, Orompoto would leave her role as a regent (one that was instrumental in driving the Nupe from Oyo in 1555 after a protracted battle) to assume the throne. This decision didn’t sit well with the council of chiefs as there had been no female rulers in the history of the kingdom.⁣

The chiefs and elders had started making plans on who to install as the next ruler of the Oyo Empire. For every plan they made, Orompoto was even more strong-willed and insistent that she was the only link to the dynasty and had to sit on the throne. In a bid to defend her family rights, Princess Orompoto summoned the chiefs to discuss plans for her coronation and this met the same negligent response. She then asked to prove to the elders and chiefs that she was a man, seeing as that was the only hindrance to her coronation. The chiefs thought it would be a good way to ridicule her and asked her to prove her masculinity and strip naked at the palace in seven days.⁣ .

Chart credit : Akila Jibrin

Universal Basic Education budget reduces by almost 54% and Healtg care more that 40% while the National Assembly budget was slightly reduced.

The outrageous reduction happened in the very important sectors where a large percentage of citizens rely on free health care and education.

The question is will this reduction not result into reduction in the quality of the output of these sectors?

Another throwback. This is definitely Ogogo and Sanyeri. Who are they?
