Headline — “Mummy don’t kill me” – 5-year-old girl begged before her mum strangled her to death and tucked her into bed

It was gathered that Madarova, 41, was suffering from depression when she killed her daughter in September last year.—-

She reportedly put cartoon on TV for her daughter before she strangled her to death while she watched. During her confession, she disclosed that the minor begged for her life to be spared.
“Mummy, don’t kill me”, she quoted her as saying.

After killing her, she tucked Alijah in bed with a blanket and called the child’s dad to inform him that their daughter was dead.

Alijah’s dad David, who is still in shock over the tragic incident, said Madorova is a wonderful person and wouldn’t kill their daughter save for her mental disorder because she is the “most innocent person you could meet”.

He added: “I am shocked by what has happened, this is just not her, she would do anything for Alijah.

“She is not a bad person, she is the best mum.

“There is no hatred towards her, this is a case of mental health. I still have feelings towards her, I’m concerned about her health in prison.

“She was more than my partner, she is my best friend and my soulmate.”

Madorova has now been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility.

General hospital mistakenly switches two babies whose parents have the same surname

A Nigerian Twitter user has narrated how his friend’s baby was mistakenly switched with another baby at a general hospital.

According to him, the nurses had taken the baby for clean up when the mix up happened, as there was another family who also just had their baby.

Thankfully, the babies were different genders, so the error was detected on time and the babies were returned back to their original parents.

Narrating the story, the Twitter user wrote,

“My friends wife gave birth to a baby girl today in a general hospital, as usual the nurses took the babies to clean, afterwards, the matron started calling each family by surname to come and take their babies.

They called a man and gave him a baby girl, he looked shocked and said that’s not his child, that his scan showed a boy, the nurses were confused and called his name again.

Apparently this man has the same surname as my friend so my friends baby girl was given to him instead of his own baby boy. They have been begging us since. So I’m like, what if the both of them gave birth to girls. That’s how this kind of thing will bring trouble later.”

Prophetess gifts #50,000 each to 60 indigenous Muslims and Christians for their 2022 WAEC enrollment

Popular Abuja based Prophetess, Rose Kelvin, has given N50,000 each to 60 indigent Christian and Muslim students, to register for 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

The beneficiaries were drawn from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Rose Kelvin told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) shortly after the presentation on Wednesday in Abuja, that education is the passport for the future.

As the SSCE 2022 edition approaches, many students across the country are in trepidation, not for how to be successful in their exams, but the fe*r of not being able to sit for the exams with their classmates, due to their parents or guardian's inability to pay their WAEC fees. "I had called on a number of Secondary School principals and proprietors, to look within their institutions and pick out students who apparently do not have hope of sitting for the upcoming SSCE examinations.

With the diligent scrutiny of Ogwula media crew, Muslim and Christian indigent students, were selected in hundreds from different schools, around remote areas of FCT, to benefit from my charity.

I was overwhelmed and broke into tears uncontrollably while listening to some of the students ord , after I handed the sum of N50,000 to each of them, to secure a place in their future endeavours by registering for WAEC.Indeed, "the roots of education are b!tter, but the fruit is sweet," Prophetess Rose Kelvin said. Meanwhile, some of the beneficiaries in an interview, appreciated Prophetess Rose Kelvin for the gesture.

Master Kingsley Usman, a student of Government Secondary School (GSS), Idu Koro, said he could not pay his first and Second term school fees due to lack of funds.

He said he was busy at a building site carrying blocks, when he was called that he was nominated for Rose Kelvin's gesture.

Another beneficiary, Ms Winifred Agema, from Benue and daughter of a fallen hero of the Nigeria Army, schooling at the Army day secondary school, Mogadishu cantonment, thanks Rose Kelvin for restoring their destiny.

Meet Abass Seriki, the Man who sells Human being for as low as a mirror or a bottle of Wine 😭😭

Seriki Abass is one of the most prominent African slave traders.

He was a Nigerian slave trader in the 19th century who was first slave to a wealthy Dahomian slave trader, Abass of Dahomey, from whom he got the name "Abbas." Later, he was sold and taken to Brazil by another slave trader called Williams, from whom he got the name "Williams."

When Seriki returned to Lagos, he converted to Islam (that's how he became known as Seriki) and became a slave merchant. He maintained contact with his Brazilian master and shipped African men and women abroad as slaves.

His slave "warehouse" was in Badagry. The cell-like warehouse was where at least 40 slaves (men and women) were crammed in a cell before he shipped them to the Americas.

Seriki shipped slaves to the Americas for cash and kinds. Aside money, he got mirrors, bottles of alcohol and wine and umbrella as rewards. It's said that during his time, he traded 10 slaves for a bottle of wine, 40 slaves for an umbrella, and 100 slaves for one canon gun.

Seriki made a lifetime of wealth and curried social honor by selling Africans as slaves. He was so wealthy that the Muslim community elected him as their Seriki (Head).

1895 was the beginning of his maddening fame and social acceptance in Lagos and Ogun States.

In 1895 he was made the political ruler of Badagry. In 1896, he built the Badagry Central Mosque. In 1897 he also became Seriki Musulmi of the whole western Yorubaland. In 1898 he founded Egbe Killa. When the Badagry Council was established in 1902, Seriki became its president. In 1902 he founded Aiyetoro, a town in today's Ogun State, and he became its first ruler.

Seriki Abass died on 11 June 1919. He had 128 wives and 144 children.

Today his grandchildren have converted the cells, where he once bounded and stocked slaves, to livingrooms. His whole house is also now a museum in Badagry— called Brazilian Baracoon of Slaves.

A man wrongly convicted of murder and spent nearly 20 years in prison has been released almost 9 years after his twin brother confessed to the crime.

Kevin Dugar, 44, was finally released from Cook County Jail, in Chicago, on Wednesday January 26, nine years after his twin brother Karl Smith, also 44, confessed to the gang-related 2003 slaying in a letter to Dugar in 2013.

“I have to get it off my chest before it kills me," Smith wrote in a 2013 letter to his imprisoned brother, as he confessed to the crime. "So l'll just come clean and pray you can forgive me."

Despite the confession, a judge denied Dugar a retrial in 2018 as Smith admitted to the murder while serving a 99- year sentence for a 2008 home invasion.

Smith even signed a sworn statement and contacted Dugar's lawyers, per his brother's request, but Dugar was still denied a retrial or release.

Dugar's attorney, Ron Safer, argued that a jury would determine a different outcome, given the new evidence to the case.

After Smith's confession, prosecutors argued that Smith only came clean after he was convicted for his involvement in a 2008 home invasion and armed robbery that left a 6- year-old boy shot in the head. He was already serving a 99-year prison sentence for his participation.

Kevin Dugar is set to live in a residential transitional facility for 90 days as a condition of his release, according to reports from the Chicago Tribune.

His attorney says he hopes his client's case will not be retried. "This case is in a very different situation than it was 20 years ago," Safer told the Tribune. 'Everybody knows much more about it.' View all 135 comments 2 houre ag0

M case involving NYSC member strucks out as deceased family withdraws

The m case involving one Chidinma Paschaline Odume, a female NYSC member, who allegedly h a man to d in Akwa Ibom state, has been struck out following the victim's family withdrawal.

Recall that Chidinma was arrested in January 2021 and charged with m after she was caught trying to escape from the house where the unfortunate incident occurred.

The state Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Mr Uwemedimo Nwoko (SAN), disclosed that the family of the deceased, Akwaowo Japheth, in a letter expressed their desire to discontinue with the case.

Speaking in Uyo, Nwoko said media reports that the Court dismissed the case and discharged Ms. Odume after establishing that she acted in self defense was wrong.

According to him, "What actually transpired in Court was that the Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice entered a Nolle Prosequi withdrawing the charge against the accused person.

And what led the Attorney General to issue the Nolle Prosequi was the letter of withdrawal of complaint written by family of the deceased.

The family formally wrote to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), saying, "we don't want this case to continue, because we will not testify'. Based on that writing from the family, the DPP now wrote an opinion to the state Attorney-General, who now entered the Nolle Prosequi to withdraw the criminal trial and terminate it.

Naturally the Court has no option than to strike out the case it wasn't like the iudge iust struck out the case on no basis.

So one the court is faced with a Nolle prosequi issued by the Attorney General that’s the end of the matter
