SOUTH EAST AND SOUTH SOUTH MUST REJECT NARROW GAUGE RAILROAD.

THE GOVERNORS OF SOUTH EAST AND SOUTH SOUTH SHOULD REJECT THE NARROW GAUGE RAILROAD APPROVED FOR THE EASTERN CORRIDOR BY FG WHEN THE WESTERN TO KANO AXIS IS STANDARD GAUGE. IT'S DISHEARTENING THAT IT WAS ROTIMI AMAECHI THAT STARTED THIS NONSENSE AS MINISTER OF TRANSPORTATION.

ARE WE PROGRESSING OR RETROGRESSING IN THE 21st CENTURY WHEN EVEN SOME 3RD WORLD COUNTRIES ARE GOING FOR MULTIPLE LANE ELECTRIC TRAINS. THE PORT HARCOURT - ABA - ENUGU - MAIDUGURI EASTERN CORRIDOR DOES NOT NEED THE OBSOLETE NARROW GAUGE.

IF FG IS NOT WILLING TO CONSTRUCT A STANDARD GAUGE FOR THE EASTERN CORRIDOR AS IT WAS DONE FOR THE WESTERN TO KANO AXIS, THEY SHOULD FORGET FOR A FRIENDLY GOVERNMENT TO DO IT IN THE NEAREST FUTURE.

NARROW GAUGE RAILROAD IS AN INSULT TO THE OIL PRODUCING REGIONS OF SOUTH EAST AND SOUTH SOUTH. OUR FEEBLE GOVERNORS SHOULD FOR GOD'S SAKE PROTECT THE OVERALL INTEREST OF THE SOUTH EAST AND SOUTH SOUTH.

SEN. OSITA IZUNASO VISITS UNITED ISU PROGRESSIVE UNION.

As campaigns intensify nationwide for the 2023 General Elections, Politicians are criss-crossing the nooks and crannies of the Nation in search of votes and acquaintances.
Sen. Osita Izunaso, the APC Senatorial Candidate for Imo West (Orlu Zone) paid a scheduled visit to United Isu Progressive Union at the ultra-modern Country Club in the land of Isu na Eliligborogu for an interactive session.

Note that Isu Clan is the largest Political Block in Orlu Zone, and U.I.P.U has, over the years, championed the clamour for equity in the social, economic and political development of the Zone.
The U.I.P.U Country Club has become a sort of Mecca for Politicians across party lines who troupe there to scurry Political favour and cultivate acquaintances. This election year, several Politicians across party lines have also came calling.

Sen. Izunaso and his campaign team were received by a large crowd at the Country Club and they, as Politicians would say, had fruitful deliberations necessitating demands and promises.

How I Became Bank CEO At 34 -Tony Elumelu

Business mogul and billionaire, Tony Elumelu, has said that his age was no barrier to him becoming the Chief Executive Officer of Standard Trust Bank and one of the youngest bank CEOs in Nigeria at the age of 34.

He shared this via his Facebook account on Wednesday alongside a throwback photo of himself aged 34.

Elumelu linked his accelerated success to hard work and luck adding that his successes and failures have always been his driving force.

He said, “This is me – aged 34! I had just become CEO of Standard Trust Bank and one of the youngest bank CEOs in Nigeria. It was a time of fast-paced change in our industry, and reform-minded policymakers had opened up paths for consolidation and strengthening our sector. Competition was intense – but youth was not a barrier.

“I owe my accelerated career and successes to two things: hard work and luck, and I know firsthand how these factors are inextricable in success. My successes – and yes failures – have always driven me to create opportunities for young people. I believe that our young have the talent and the zeal to transform our world.” Elumelu is now 59 years old.

Brig. Gen. Opurum eulogized and praised his immediate and extended family, especially his wife, Queen Chinyere Opurum for supporting him and making the home front stable for him to succeed and get to where he is today. He heaped more encomiums on his wife (fondly called Opuruiche) for all the exceptional things she has done in his life and that of the larger Opurum family.

He also thanked and appreciated AFRICAN FREE PRESS MAGAZINE for finding him and the wife worthy of the prestigious DISTINGUISHED AFRICAN COUPLE HONOURS & AWARD. The General and his wife are more of a Celebrity Couple, and have done so much in Service to the Nation and Humanity.

Adding her voice to the interview, Queen Chinyere Opurum stated that the Nigerian Army Officers Wives support their husbands to perform optimally in Service to the Nation through prayers and making sure that the home front is stable, conducive and friendly. Asked if Officers Wives feel scared when their spouses are engaged in combative operations, she went spiritual and opined that no matter how they feel in such situations, the Bible admonished that they channel all their worries to God and believe all would be well.

BRIG. GEN. TIMOTHY OPURUM:
The Making of a Gallant General.

Brigadier General Timothy Maraizuchukwu Opurum from Dim-Na-Nume in Nwangele LGA of Imo State join the Nigerian Army in 1994 and attended the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) from 1994 to 1999. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree as the best student in Physics and was Commissioned a Second Lieutenant on 20th August, 1999.

As an Officer he attended several courses within and without Nigeria relevant to his career projections and promotions, and to equip himself to better perform his assigned military duties optimally in Service to fatherland and loyalty to the Nigerian Army. He attended all courses mandatory for an officer before gaining promotion from one rank to another, and finally the National Defence College which an Officer must take before promotion to the rank of General.

Brig. Gen. T.M Opurum exhibited guts and gallantry in several operations like the Operation Safe Haven in Jos, Operation Jubilee in Abia and many others in Maiduguri and other places which earned him Service Awards. He also participated in foreign Operations in Darfur Sudan, Liberia, Sierra Leone etc which also earned him Service Diadems.

In his own words, " The Nigerian Army has done so much in the protection and preservation of the Nigerian State. In doing so, the Army has engaged in Kinetic and unkinetic operations. In Kinetic operations, the Army has engaged and brought under control the activities of insurgents in the North and that of non-state actors in the South. While in the unkenitic operations, we have engaged in providing relief and security to flood victims, displaced persons, kidnapped victims, and also collaborating with other security Agencies to safeguard the lives and properties of Nigerians. The Army hierarchy have also done well in providing materials and tools necessary to make these operations successful ".
