As we start a new week, it's easy to feel daunted by all the things on our to-do list—the many tasks, responsibilities, and goals we have set out for ourselves. When you look at the week ahead and see a giant staircase you have to climb, it can be intimidating.

However, the key is not to focus on the height of that staircase. Don't focus too much on the totality of what needs to be accomplished. If you do, you might freeze up and struggle to take the first step.

Instead, bring your focus down to the individual steps—what's the very next thing you can do to progress? Focus on taking that one, single step. Then take another. And another. If you focus on taking one step at a time, putting one foot in front of the other, before you know it you'll have made real progress.
