UNENDING FIGHT

Joe Aniche Nwakanma

It was Brigade quarters in the city of Kano in Kano State, Nigeria; there, we had a concentration of Hausas, Fulanis sprinkled with few Igbos who were not in Sabongari: a community that was peopled mostly by Igbos of the South East of Nigeria.
Then, Brigade quarters didn't look attractive at all. I'm being euphemistic here. I was rushing to answer a distress call. Getting closer, I could hear someone screaming, they will kill themselves oh. The fellow shouting was outside while the couple that were tearing themselves were inside the house. In this generation , he will be taking photo shots of them. Most of the times, they would tear their dresses and fight stack naked.
I rushed in and threw myself in between, received the needed blows from both sides, but succeeded in separating the fighters.
What galled me was that they were very religiously hollow. Very early every Sunday morning, they were off to Church but their characters reflected their lack of knowledge of God they were going to worship. 2nd Timothy chapter 3:5 says " Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." Verse 7 says:
" Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth."
This is because they lack the power which God has offered freely to those who will accept Jesus Christ as Lord and personal saviour.
Are you ready to receive Him now? Just pray and ask him into your heart.
The Lord Jesus Christ bless you as you take this crucial decision.

**THE PULL*

Joe Aniche Nwakanma

It was night. Looking up, the stars were few. Would it rain? I wondered. Some stormy wind kept whistling over my head as I stood there watching. Then I heard a voice.
" Jump." No one was in sight.
" No." I said.
"Jump."
" No."
" You belong here. You will have everything you need." I walked to the edge. My heart began to beat faster. " I will receive everything I need. Why don't I get there, take everything I need, and get back to my parents."
" Perfect, good thinking. Just jump in at once."
" Do not mind that voice, if you jump in, you will drown and go to hell fire." At the sound of that voice, I moved back wards. I was on the uppermost deck of a ship that was taking us from Cameroon to Nigeria. I was nine years. I had moved from the base deck where mother and my siblings were to the upper deck.
" Joe boy jump in, that voice was just deceiving you. Okay, come closer, come to the edge of the deck." I started going and stopped.
" Come on, you are making progress. Just come on." The voice continued. " Just jump in and you will notice the difference."
"If you jump in, you are a dead man."
"You will not die! He is lying to you, he knows that if you jump in you will become differently better than you are right now."
" Make a choice of jumping, dying and going to hell or staying alive to fulfill the purpose for your creation." That voice ceased.
" Joe, don't listen to him, just jump in." I considered the options and decided to go back to my mom and siblings at the base deck.
Beloved, I could have been a dead boy that night if I had obeyed the voice of the enemy.
I was naive, I didn't know which one was the voice of God and the voice of the enemy. Some how I felt that jumping into the sea might be dangerous since my people didn't know where I was, If I should start drowning, who would get me out?
Many people hear voices in their minds and most of the time suppress the voice of their conscience because they do not know the difference, because they don't have the power of God.
One can get the power of God if he accepts the Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal saviour. The word of God says: " As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God. John chapter 1:12.
When Jesus resides in you, he will direct you through the Holy Spirit to make the proper choices.
Romans chapter 8:14

ARMED ROBBERY ATTACK

Joe Aniche Nwakanma

Our vehicle came to an abrupt stop, the tyres screeching and screaming. Every passenger reeled forward, my chest hit the back of the driver's seat. Sporadic gun shots followed. Every part of my body froze except my heart that was into some gymnastics. Then I heard voices.
" Come out, lie down!!" The robbers bellowed some orders. We were all boys.
We were heading to Enugu, Nigeria from Owerri in Imo State, Nigeria; in a 504 station wagon commercial vehicle. It was filled to capacity on taking off. When we got to Okigwe some of the passengers, having reached their own destination stepped out of the car. At Lokpa, the only girl in our midst got down and we continued.
We were close to the University Teaching Hospital when they struck.
" Fire them now." Their leader ordered. We started shouting.
" Please do not shoot, we shall give you all we have with us." many of us screamed. They had stripped us bare before forcing us to lie on the muddy road. I was wearing white shirt upon white trousers that had been brought that evening from the dry cleaners. As I lay on that mud, my mind was a cob web of thoughts.
" What if I am killed? Who would get my co**se since I didn't tell anyone where I was going? What if I am maimed, who would find me in this place that looks like a desert. What if I... " I was je**ed back to reality by the scaring voice of one of the robbers. He seemed to be their boss.
" We are the real armed robbers in Nigeria. We are very dangerous, don't just try anything funny or you are gone! Hei, you guys fit be wizards, for fifteen minutes now wey we catch una, no Moto don pass. In short, the best thing na to fire una." He corked his gun and we began to plead for mercy. He asked us to start praying so that other vehicles would come. We started praying, some in English, some in pidgin while others prayed in Igbo.
Our prayers were heard and the answer came speedily. A hummer bus sped along. I began to weep.
" So, this is it. So, I am about to be crushed to smithereens. Aaaah . I closed my eyes and ears so I wouldn't know when I will be killed. As it got to where we formed the road blocks with our bodies, it veered suddenly towards the right where the robbers were, they ran into the bush. The driver turned back into the main road and disappeared from sight. The robbers shot some bullets after a car that was no longer in sight. I guess it was to put some fear in us.
" They have stopped praying!" One of the robbers observed.
We resumed our prayers, asking the Lord to send down vehicles. Then a pickup van was coming from the opposite direction and on our lane few meters to where we were. It stopped and put off it's light. The robbers ran into the bush. Shouting.
" Ndi eke abiana." Meaning Police men have come. We were all arrested. The Police men were insisting we were the armed robbers. We told them our story and that the robbers ran into the nearby bush. We were all bundled into the pickup van and taken to Enugu state Police headquarters. We were all left off the hook by the following morning. Thinking about it as I walked down the road to enter a vehicle that would take me back to Owerri, I kept asking myself, was I really prepared to meet the Lord?
I want to ask you my beloved, are ready to meet the Lord? Are you born again? Have you given your life to Jesus Christ? Have you repented of all your sins? Have you experienced the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus Christ?
Revelation chapter 3 verse 20. Jesus Christ said " I stand at the door (of your heart) and knock, if any man will open, I will come in and sup with him and he with Me. Give your life to Jesus Christ today!

ANOTHER NIGHT

Joe Aniche Nwakanma

It is another night
Dark with all it's might
The darkness is solid
Indeed it is sordid.

Where is the light
It is my unchangeable right.
Hahahaha, your right?
Go and ask the white.

Come out of darkness
And face your blackness
You cry out, I need a lamp,
No, you need the lamb

The lamb of the true God
Who takes away your
sins
Committed in different scenes
Jesus the light that sees.

You can't stay another night.
You need to get your right
For you to get your light
Jesus Christ is the Light.

*THE SUN*

Joe Aniche Nwakanma

The sun rises from East
Doing it's utmost best
Obeying God's command Obedience, His demand

Don't smite what's mine
Nor put on their way mines
Shine like sleek silver
That will never quiver

After twelve hours you set
In the west for Seth
No rest for you as
You journey back like ass

To start afresh from the East
Do you make it like a beast?
Do you move like the wind?
Love of my God binds.

Humans should love
Not always like a dove
Love God and obey Him
Then sing along his hymns.

*EXCUSES*

Joe Aniche Nwakanma

During prayers this morning, the Lord reminded me of an act of a righteous man who went by the name Excell Ndukwe.
We met during the preparation for the conference at Ishiagu, Ivo local Government of Ebonyi, Nigeria. He wasn't an Ebonyian like I am not, but we went like Aaron and Hur to lift up the hand of the arrow head ( Rev. Moses Ajah ) of that programme.
I used the opportunity to also advertise our ministers conference. Pst. Excell bought it hook line and sinker and began preparations for that too.
He had gone back to Awgwu to mobilize ministers of the Gospel, but I had no idea that he was sick and hospitalized. He had been visiting different hospitals for treatment without informing members of the planning committee.
When he arrived for the conference with his crowd, there was no indication of sickness. He didn't eat the food he was given, I assumed he was on the mountain, (fasting and praying) I didn't know he couldn't swallow spittle, not to talk of drinking water. I got to know about all of this only after his demise.
He was a galant soldier who died at his post.
God said to me this morning that no man has any excuse not to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and personal saviour or serve Him in righteousness.
Romans chapter 2: I
" Therefore thou art inexcusable, oh man....
The Lord Jesus Christ is knocking at the door of your heart, if you open, He will come in and sup with you and you with Him. Revelation chapter 3 verse 20.
