Nationwide jubilation as Pres. Tinubu launches Conditional Cash Transfer for 15 million households

President Bola Tinubu has launched the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer for 15 million households in a bid to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.

The launching was held at the Press Gallery of the State House in Abuja on Tuesday, October 17.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume represented the President at the event.

Recall that the President had in his maiden Independence Day broadcast to Nigerians on October 1, 2023 announced the cash transfer programme which he said would target vulnerable citizens.

The 15 million households, according to the humanitarian affairs minister, represents 62 million Nigerians.

ransferred to the beneficiaries on a monthly basis for three months, which amounts to N75,000 for each of the beneficiaries.

A teacher who was exposed for allegedly having s3x with her 12-year-old student claims she is “pregnant” and is “going to raise this baby”.

Alissa McCommon, 38, from Covington, Tennessee, was arrested late last month (September 2023) and charged with r@pe of a child after making contact with the little boy via SnapChat.

The former fourth grade teacher at Charger Academy was in court on Tuesday, Oct. 3, with the hearing focusing on a series of texts and phone calls that the mum-of-two allegedly had with the victim.

In one call, the teacher claimed that she was pregnant and ready to bring child number three into the world.

“I’m going to raise this baby. I can do this,” she stated on the recording played in court.

She previously warned the boy he would “regret” telling cops about their relationship.

Authorities have not officially confirmed whether McCommon is pregnant, nor whether the 12-year-old boy is the father.

She also hinted at being pregnant in a separate text message. “I have to tell you something that is serious and huge that deals with you,” she wrote according to local news outlet, Fox 13.

“This was a mistake, this is my burden. OMG delete this number, please don't get me in trouble,” another alleged text from McCommon read. “I will never text you again. You will never hear from me again, just please don't say anything,” the ex-teacher could purportedly be heard saying on an audio clip.

She was fired from Charger Academy at the beginning of 2021 after being accused of having s3x with the former student in her home. She also allegedly had s3xual correspondence with several other students including sending n*de pictures of herself and asking them if they wanted to have s3x, according to Covington Police Department.

McCommon was booked back into the Tipton County Jail, and is due back in court on Monday, November 27.

Singer Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has arrived in Lagos to assist in the ongoing probe of the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka MohBad.

The singer revealed this in a tweet on Tuesday, adding that he'd also be meeting with the police.

He wrote, "I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole.

"I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail."

MohBad died on September 12 at age 27.

Nigerian singer, Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ, popularly known as Brymo, has described Grammy-winning musician, Burna Boy as “sleazy, cheap, very unoriginal and very fake”.

In a recent interview with TVC, Brymo chastised Burna Boy for trying to invent a new Afrobeat style based on the labors of the king of Afrobeat, Fela Kuti.

He also stressed his lack of originality and the fact that he steals tunes by Fela.

He said, “I saw a video where he said he was the Jesus of Afrobeat and he put Davido and Wizkid on some other mountain like that.

"I think he is sleazy, he is cheap, he is a thief, very unoriginal, very fake. Every song is a sample or a stolen slogan. Who does that?.

The Kano Matchmaking Marriage Association, also known as Mai Dalilin Aure, has offered four women to the 22-year-old Keke rider who returned N15 million to the owner who forgot the money in his tricycle.

Auwalu Salisu found N15m, including some CFA currency in his tricycle and returned it to the owner who is from the Republic of Chad.

Since then, the young man has been getting recognition from government officials, groups and individuals and received several gifts, including a new tricycle.

The matchmaking group promised four women for him to marry to be selected from 10 women.

Speaking on Freedom Radio, Kano, the Chairman of the association, Alhaji Mukhtar Inuwa Yakasai, said that among the ladies, two were his daughters.

Yakasai noted that the integrity, honesty and trust displayed by the young man qualified him for the honour.

“The boy has shown the good character of our Noble Prophet, Muhammad (SAW). He is indeed trustworthy. That is why we have decided to honour him with these gifts,” Yakasai said.

Burna Boy Postpones South Africa Show, Says Production Team Yet To Be Paid

Grammy-award-winning Nigerian artiste Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, has canceled his highly anticipated live concert due to the promoters' inability to fulfill their contractual obligations.

Burna's live concert was scheduled for September 23, at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Buran's statement is coming after Ticketing company, Ticket Pro, announced Wednesday that the highly anticipated show, is being postponed due to a 'lack of ticket' sales, among other reasons.

"We regret to announce the postponement of the highly anticipated Burna Boy concert scheduled to take place at FNB Stadium, Johannesburg on 23 September 2023.

"The concert will now take place on the 16th of December 2023.

"This decision was not made lightly by the promoter and comes as a result of careful consideration and assessment of various factors, including the lack of ticket sales," read the statement by Ticket Pro.

Spaceship Management, Burna's management company, has since reacted to this claim by Ticket Pro, stating the concert promoters' Ternary Media Group's failure to fulfill their financial, production, and technical obligations to the team.

"Sadly, it is with great regret that we must inform you that despite my team's effort, the show in Johannesburg on September 23rd, will be canceled due to the inability of the promoters to fulfill their contractual, financial, production, and technical obligations.

"Production vendors have still not been paid and as such, it is evident at this point that the agreed production standard needed for this venue size can not be achieved.

"We hereby state that all ticketing companies must ensure that is refunded in full.

"Deepest apologies to all fans, looking forward to seeing you all soon," their statement read.

Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as Mohbad, has given reasons why he buried the singer barely 24 hours after he passed on September 12.

In a recent interview shared by Temilola Sobola () via Instagram on Tuesday, September 19, the distraught father said Yoruba culture does not support keeping a co**se of a
young person when both parents are still alive.

He said if Mohbad had died at an older age, the option of keeping his body in a mortuary for a later date might have been considered.
He went further to state that the land where his son was laid to rest belonged to Mohbad and that he had given it to him to build a church.

He clarified that the decision to bury him swiftly was in accordance with Yoruba custom.

“In Yoruba land, his co**se is not the kind to be kept when both of his parents are still alive. That land where Mohbad was buried is his only land, that is the only land I know him to have owned. Truly he gave me the land to build my church because we had both agreed to build the church there and since that’s the only land I knew him to have.” he said

The father has been berated by many Nigerians for burying his son when an autopsy had not been done to ascertain what led to his untimely d£ath.

A petition to ban Marlian Music Lable has gotten over 125,000 signatures.

The petition was launched on change.org following the death of former Marlian Music signee, Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba aka Mohbad, who died on Tuesday, September 12.

The talented singer died a year after his controversial split from the Naira Marley-owned record label due to an internal dispute and allegations of assault.

The police on Thursday revealed that they are investigating Mohbad’s demise.

However, irate fans have started signing a petition to ban the late singer’s former record label, Marlian Music.

Indigenous rapper and songwriter, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known as Mohbad has sadly passed on.

The news as expected ushered in a moment of frenzy as netizens were in utmost shock as regards the unfortunate development.

In the face of this, the cause of the crooner’s death has become the most asked question and answers have popped in accordingly.

According to Pulse Nigeria, the singer died as a result of an ear infection. The media house revealed that a source from the singer’s team stated that Mohbad took a trip to the hospital in the early hours of today Tuesday, September 12, 2023, for treatment, after which he was administered an injection.⁣
It was further revealed that Mohbad passed out shortly after the injection and unfortunately did not wake up.⁣

Labour party rejects tribunal's judgment

The Labour Party has rejected the judgement of the five-man panel of the Presidential Election Petition Court led by Justice Haruna Tsammani which dismissed the petition of the party against the election of President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the party said that justice was not served and it did not reflect the law and the desire of the people.

The party said its next line of action would be made known after consulting with its lawyers and studying the certified true copy of the Judgement.

The statement reads

“The Labour Party watched with dismay and trepidation the dismissal of petitions by the five-man panel of the Presidential Election Petition Court led by Justice Haruna Tsammani today and we reject the outcome of the judgment in its entirety because justice was not served and it did not reflect the law and the desire of the people.

Nigerians were witnesses to the electoral robbery that took place on February 25, 2023, which was globally condemned but the Tribunal in its wisdom refused to accept the obvious. What is at stake is democracy and we will not relent until the will of the people prevail.

We salute the doggedness of our team of lawyers who fearlessly exposed the wrath in our system. We can only weep for democracy in Nigeria but we refuse to give up on Nigeria.

Details of the party’s position will be presented after consultation with our lawyers after the Certified True Copy of the judgement.

We urge all lovers of democracy to remain focused and hopeful because a new Nigeria is possible”

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) has ruled that the Labour Party (LP)’s petition of irregularities in the 2023 presidential election was generic.

“Pleading must set out material facts and particulars. In the instant petition, there was no effort to prove specific allegations, particulars of complaints,” the Tribunal ruled on Wednesday in Abuja.

The law is clear that where someone alleges irregularities in a particular polling unit, such person must prove the particular irregular
According to the Tribunal, the petitioners did not prove the particular polling units where the election did not take place nor did they specify particulars of polling units where there are alleged complainants of irregularities.

“It was only in one instance that figures were given of alleged suppressed votes and we all know that elections are about figures,” it maintained.

Tribunal rejects 10 out of 13 witnesses presented by Peter Obi

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal on Wednesday , September 6, said it rejected 10 out of 13 witnesses presented by Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Justice Haruna Tsammani, who delivered the judgment on the substantive petition filed by Obi and LP, said Obi called 13 witnesses, who testified as PW1 to PW13, noting that of the 13 witnesses, only three witnesses whose statements are on oath, were filed along with the petition.

The remaining 10 witnesses, the Justice said, were subpoenaed and their witness statements on oath were only filed after the hearing started.

Tsammani held that by virtue of section 285 of the Nigerian constitution, section 137(7) of the Electoral Act 2022, and other provisions, every witness statement on oath must be filed along with the petition.

He said that based on the Supreme Court authority, once the 21-day window for filing an election petition elapses, the content of the petition cannot be amended.

The Justice stated further that no additional statement on oath can be filed after the close of the specified window since the respondents would not have the opportunity to respond.

Tsammani said the petitioners were aware of the legal provision relating to the filing of witness statements on oath, yet went ahead to present 10 witnesses without their witness statements on oath earlier filed with the petition.

The Presidential Election Petitions Court on Wednesday ruled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was at liberty to decide the mode of transmission of election results during the presidential election on February 25, 2023.

The five-man panel led by Justice Haruna Tsammani said according to Sections 52 and 65 of the Electoral Act 2022, INEC was at liberty to prescribe the manner in which election results were transmitted during the poll.

The Tribunal consequently dismissed the petition of the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, which argued that the victory of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) be annulled on the basis of the “failure” of the commission’s Results Viewing Portal (IReV) to upload election results electronically in real time.

The Tribunal also dismissed Obi and LP’s petitions on 25 per cent votes of Tinubu in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), saying that Abuja is like other states.

The court also said the petitioners – Obi and the LP — failed to prove that Tinubu was convicted for money laundering in the United States.

The Justice Tsammani panel ruled that no record of criminal arrest or conviction was established against Tinubu by the petitioners.

The Presidency has said that President Tinubu is not worried about the outcome of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal set to deliver its ruling on Wednesday, September 6.

Speaking on Channels TV this evening September 4, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, said;

“He (Tinubu) is not worried simply because he knows he won the election,”

He said the President sees no need to threaten judicial officers, adding that the judiciary is in the best position to make independent decisions based on the merits of the case before it.

“The President sees no need to threaten judicial officers. He sees no need to raise speculations against the integrity of judicial officers; he believes in the sanctity and integrity of the Nigerian judicial system, he believes the great men and women on the panel will make their decisions based only on the facts before them.

He will continue to ensure that no matter what the outcome of the judgment is, he does his part and ensure that our institutions continue to be respected, not just by him, but all actors,” Ngelale said
The Tribunal’s judgment will be delivered while the President is away in New Delhi, India, for the G-20 Leaders’ Summit.

The Registrar of the Court of Appeal, Umar Bangari, said the Tribunal will on Wednesday, September 6, deliver its judgments on the cases before it challenging the victory of Tinubu, the then candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25, 2023 poll.

The court also said the proceedings will be open to live broadcast by interested television stations.

The Delta State Police Command has arrested 67 'gay suspects' in the Ekpan area of the state.

The command's Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, made this known in a tweet on Tuesday.

Sharing photos of the suspects on his X page, Edafe wrote, "Delta State Police Command has arrested 67 gay suspects at a hotel on 28/8/2023. They were at a suspected gay wedding ceremony between Daniel Pius 'm' (groom) and Maxwell Ohwonowho (bride) at Teebulus Hotel along Refinery Road, Ekpan. I paraded them today at Ekpan Police Station."

Young man allegedly st@bs his girlfriend to d£ath in Edo

A young man has allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death in Benin City, Edo State.

The suspect identified as Victor Ifakachukwu, was arrested and hospitalized due to severe injuries he sustained during what appeared to be a deadly knife attack in his apartment.

The incident occurred at 10, Osahon Street, Ogheghe Quarters, off Sapele Road, Benin City.

The couple was said to have bolted themselves inside the house when the violence broke out.

It was also gathered that the incident was reported to the police by his landlord, Mr. Emmanuel Momoh about 4 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2023.

Police recovered two blood-stained knives, one laptop, two iPhones, and one Nokia phone, from the apartment.

The suspect is being closely monitored at an undisclosed hospital, hoping to account for his crime whenever he regains consciousness.

Spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the incident to the Nigerian Tribune, said a full-scale investigation has commenced.

The PPRO said detectives would unravel what transpired between the two lovebirds.

Meanwhile, some security personnel who joined in the evacuation of the girl’s co**se said no part was missing from the deceased.

"When we arrived at the house, Omo, blood was flowing like water, I believe they started stabbing themselves when a quarrel erupted between them.

“I suspect something went wrong and the girl fought back with her last power. When the boy regains consciousness, he will tell us how many of them were in the house and what actually happened,” they noted.

The burial arrangement for Kosisochukwu Nkem-Owoh, the daughter of veteran Nollywood actor, Nkem Owoh, has been announced.

News surfaced in June that Kosisochukwu, 24, had passed away after battling liver cancer.

The burial arrangement for Kosisochukwu as announced by the family on Friday showed that she would be buried on August 24.

It read: "The family of Nkem Owoh (Osuofiasn) of Umunevo Owonta of Umungwu clan in Amagu village, Udi town, Udi local government, Enugu State regrets to announce the death of our daughter. The deceased will be buried on August 24."

“It is not enough to issue blanket statements as tokens to assuage their conscience (s). It would entail addressing the specific atrocities visited on the diverse peoples of the continent and implementing the regimes of reparations commensurate with the damage done to each African territory and its people.

“It would be imperative for the colonial powers to rethink and adjust the dynamics of their relationship with African territories that still struggle with the aftereffects of their atrocities.

“I beseech former colonial masters to invest in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic empowerment within African nations, especially those that have endured exploitation.I also urge the reparation of culturally significant artifacts taken from the African continent during the colonial period
