On the average each day, they walked 43 metres!.
Yes 43 meters almost half of what Usain Bolt was doing in 5 seconds.

His landlord sent him and his family packing because he could not renew his house rent.

He then applied for loan from the manager of the company he was working for, but the loan was not approved.

He contacted the influential man in his community, but could not find help. He then called his relatives on the phone , but no one helped him.

He went to Facebook and posted, seeking for help, but the only thing he got was: 2likes and 0 comments.

He became frustrated and sent 120 messages to friends on his contact list, asking them for support of N100,000. Unfortunately, only 10 people responded to the message. Six out of the 10 said they had nothing to give. Only one out of 4 people gave him N20,000, but the rest kept apologizing and eventually stopped picking his calls.

The landlord locked the house!

His family were thrown out and left at the front door of the house with their belongings.

He became more frustrated!

He went everywhere in search of help but could not find one until nightfall.

As he made more effort in the dark, looking for solution, a truck ran over him and killed him instantly.

The next day, news of his death spread everywhere.

His Facebook friends made 2220 posts on his wall, mourning his death and expressing their admiration for him.

The landlord immediately ran to open the door for his family to go in to receive mourners.

The influential man who earlier refused to help him, took some food items and groceries to the family to cook for the mourners.

Preparations for his burial began later and his friends, who formed a committee raised N1,200,000 through donations to feed sympathizers that will be coming from different places.

His co-workers also raised N300,000 to collect booths, chairs and other items.

HOW QUEEN ELIZABETH II BECAME QUEEN BY LUCK

The King Who Resigned Because of a Woman he Loved and married

Did you know that Queen Elizabeth II would never have become a queen if her uncle who was the former king Edward VIII had not abdicated and resigned in 1936, thus paving the way for her father George VI to become king?

Why did the king resigned?

Well, King Edward VIII loved a woman. It turned out that the woman had divorced two times and she was someone with easy virtues. The marriage of a king to a former hook-up artist was considered scandalous and unacceptable by the British people.

He chose to abdicate after the British government, public, and the Church of England condemned his decision to marry a woman who has a sexual scandal escapade in China and several other places and who was rumored to have become infertile from her many sexual indiscretion.

It was simply unbelievable and unpalatable that a future king-to-be would be getting married to a woman like that. And this caused several protests in London and other places.

With no resolution possible, the king renounced the throne on December 10 1936. The next day, Parliament approved the abdication instrument, and Edward VIIIโ€™s reign came to an ignoble end.

At his abdication, he said: โ€œI have found it impossible to carry on the heavy burden of responsibility and to discharge the duties of king, as I would wish to do, without the help and support of the woman I love.โ€

He later became an outcast. And the hook-up artist of a wife later left him when his health deteriorated... When he died, he was not buried in the royal cemetery. He died a lonely man, in absolute penury. What a sad way to die! Our actions have consequences.

This 10-year-old girl by the name of "Marwa" sells tissues in city of Aswan, Egypt.

She rushed to watch a marathon organized for children from a distance and she quickly ran towards them to ask if she can participate.

Although she did not pay the participation fee (which was 200 pounds) , nor did she have the sports shoes or clothing to participate, she nevertheless wanted to take part and had the desire to win!

The organizers did not deprive this innocent child from playing. Marwa ran barefoot.. She ran as she used to run after people in the streets to sell them tissues... She ran with the pride of the poor, she ran as if she was flying towards the sky to embrace the finish line.
To everyone's utter astonishment and surprise, she came in first place and won gold medal.

Despite her unfortunate circumstances, she believed in herself and didn't allow any hurdles or setbacks to get in the way of accomplishing her goal. โค๏ธ

The youngest King and up till today Dein of Agbor,Delta State Obi Benjamin Ikenchukwu Keagborekuzi 1,

He was crowned at the age of 2years and 4 months in 1979 after the unexpected death of his father same year.

He's was taken away immediately to study abroad before coming back to begin ruling at an advance age.

He returned in 2000 at age 22.

BRIEF HISTORY OF AGBOR/IKA.

Geographically, the Ika speaking people are found in the north west of Delta State. They share borders in the west with the Edo speakers, in the north with the Ishan speakers, in the East with the Aniocha language speakers and in the south with the Ukwuani speakers.
Politically, Ika speakers are mainly found in two local government areas, Ika North East and Ika South local government areas, both created in 1991 from a single Ika Local Government Area, in Delta State. Ika South and Ika North East local government areas, occupy a land area of 117.45 square kilometres (Delta State Government website, 1999) with a total population of about 240,000 people. There are other Ika speaking people that are political outside the Ika North east and Ika South local government areas.

Agbor is an Igbo kingdom in Ika South, Delta State, Nigeria. The indigenes of Agbor town are Ika.
Agbor remains the largest of Ika communities with close geographical proximity to Benin City. Its constant wars with Benin are well-known. This may have also accounted for its consideration as the โ€œmost politically and militarily powerful of all Ika clans as recorded by Chukwu Ebuka and Iwueze Awele Success. The wars which lasted until the 19th century may have also swelled the military prowess of the community and helped to make it a force to reckon with within the Ika nation (Simpson, 1936).The headquarters of Agbor has been moved several times until the recent in 1935 to Ime-obi.. The reasons for the movement of the headquarters several times have been given as farming convenience and wars of succession. Since the old Agbor had always faced threats from the old Bini kingdom, it is also possible that the security of the headquarters from external invaders was an important consideration in the constant relocations of the headquarters.

Ika Structure: Clans, villages (Ogbe,an Ika igbo dialect for village), quarters (Idumu) and family units (nmunne).
The following are the eleven clans and a metropolis that make up the Ika community:
1. Agbor clan,
2. Owa clan,
3. Abavo clan,
4. Ute-Okpu clan,
5. Ute-Ogbeje clan
6 Umunede clan,
7. Akumazi clan,
8. Igbodo clan,
9. Otolokpo clan,
10. Mbiri clan,
11. Idumuesah clan
12. Orogodo/Boji-Boji

The origin of the town, as most African histories is traced by oral tradition .The people of Agbor/Ika do not trace origin to a single place..the Two prominent narratives being igbo(Nri) and Benin origins. It is possible that the few true Benin migrants lost there identity via language attrition to the dominant aboriginal igbos on ground. However, the villages of Alisor, Alilehan and Ozanogogo are not Ika speaking. They speak an Edoid language known especially to Ika speakers, as Oza or Ozaraโ€. Its also important to note that a migration from Benin Kingdom doesn't imply Benin ancestry, as Benin kingdom as it were was of multiethnic composition where different tribes fled from its vicinity for safety.Despite the proximity of the town to Benin ,Agbor has largely remained an igboid community indicating an earlier igbo footing. The monarchy also shows features of Benin cultural influence due to proximity, hence a borrowing of cultural traits and monarchy by the aborigines.

Agbor as narrated by chief A.E Iduwe is an ancient settlement. According to Iduwe โ€œOur ancestors had long established an autonomous kingdom based on Eze title before our contact with Beninโ€.

There are two communities that go by the name "Owa" today: one in the present Delta State and the other in the present Edo State. Both are however Igbo-speaking of Ika dialect extraction. It is important to note here that even though the later Owa is located within Edo-speaking territory, it remained Igbo in language and other elements of its culture, like Igbanke, Ogan and other Igbo-speaking communities in the present Edo State.

WHO SOLD NIGERIA TO THE BRITISH FOR ยฃ865K IN 1899?

This is the story of the first oil war, which was fought in the 19th century, in the area that became Nigeria.

All through the 19th century, palm oil was highly sought-after by the British, for use as an industrial lubricant for machinery. Remember that Britain was the worldโ€™s first industrialised nation, so they needed resources such as palm oil to maintain that.

Palm oil, of course, is a tropical plant, which is native to the Niger Delta. Malaysiaโ€™s dominance came a century later. By 1870, palm oil had replaced slaves as the main export of the Niger Delta, the area which was once known as the Slave Coast. At first, most of the trade in the oil palm was uncoordinated, with natives selling to those who gave them the best deals. Native chiefs such as former slave, Jaja of Opobo became immensely wealthy because of oil palm. With this wealth came influence.

However, among the Europeans, there was competition for who would get preferential access to the lucrative oil palm trade. In 1879, George Goldie formed the United African Company (UAC), which was modelled on the former East India Company. Goldie effectively took control of the Lower Niger River. By 1884, his company had 30 trading posts along the Lower Niger. This monopoly gave the British a strong hand against the French and Germans in the 1884 Berlin Conference. The British got the area that the UAC operated in, included in their sphere of influence after the Berlin Conference.

When the Brits got the terms they wanted from other Europeans, they began to deal with the African chiefs. Within two years of 1886, Goldie had signed treaties with tribal chiefs along the Benue and Niger Rivers whilst also penetrating inland. This move inland was against the spirit of verbal agreements that had been made to restrict the organisationโ€™s activities to coastal regions.

By 1886, the company name changed to The National Africa Company and was granted a royal charter (incorporated). The charter authorised the company to administer the Niger Delta and all lands around the banks of the Benue and Niger Rivers. Soon after, the company was again renamed. The new name was Royal Niger Company, which survives, as Unilever, till this day.

To local chiefs, the Royal Niger Company negotiators had pledged free trade in the region. Behind, they entered private contracts on their terms. Because the (deceitful) private contracts were often written in English and signed by the local chiefs, the British government enforced them. So for example, Jaja of Opobo, when he tried to export palm oil on his own, was forced into exile for โ€œobstructing commerceโ€. As an aside, Jaja was โ€œforgivenโ€ in 1891 and allowed to return home, but he died on the way back, poisoned with a cup of tea.

Seeing what happened to Jaja, some other native rulers began to look more closely at the deals they were getting from the Royal Nigeria Company. One of such kingdoms was Nembe, whose king, Koko Mingi VIII, ascended the throne in 1889 after being a Christian schoolteacher. Koko Mingi VIII, King Koko for short, like most rulers in the yard, was faced with the Royal Nigeria Company encroachment. He also resented the monopoly enjoyed by the Royal Nigeria Company and tried to seek out favourable trading terms, with particularly the Germans in Kamerun (Cameroon).

By 1894, the Royal Nigeria Company increasingly dictated whom the natives could trade with, and denied them direct access to their former markets. In late 1894, King Koko renounced Christianity and tried to form an alliance with Bonny and Okpoma against the Royal Nigeria Company to take back the trade. This is significant because while Okpoma joined up, Bonny refused. A harbinger of the successful โ€œdivide and ruleโ€ tactic.

On 29 January 1895, King Koko led an attack on the Royal Niger Companyโ€™s headquarters, which was in Akassa in todayโ€™s Bayelsa state. The pre-dawn raid had more than a thousand men involved. King Kokoโ€™s attack succeeded in capturing the base. Losing 40 of his men, King Koko captured 60 white men as hostages, as well as a lot of goods, ammunition and a Maxim gun. Koko then attempted to negotiate a release of the hostages in exchange for being allowed to chose his trading partners. The British refused to negotiate with Koko, and he had forty of the hostages killed. A British report claimed that the Nembe people ate them. On 20 February 1895, Britainโ€™s Royal Navy, under Admiral Bedford attacked Brass and burned it to the ground. Many Nembe people died and smallpox finished off a lot of others.

By April 1895, business had returned to โ€œnormalโ€, normal being the conditions that the British wanted, and King Koko was on the run. Brass was fined ยฃ500 by the British, ยฃ62,494 (NGN29 million) in todayโ€™s money, and the looted weapons were returned as well as the surviving prisoners. After a British Parliamentary Commission sat, King Koko was offered terms of settlement by the British, which he rejected and disappeared. The British promptly declared him an outlaw and offered a reward of ยฃ200 (ยฃ26,000; NGN12 million today) for him. He committed su***de in exile in 1898.

About that time, another โ€œrecalcitrant Kingโ€, the Oba of Benin, was run out of town. The pacification of the Lower Niger was well and truly underway. The immediate effect of the Brass Oil War was that public opinion in Britain turned against the Royal Nigeria Company, so its charter was revoked in 1899. Following the revoking of its charter, the Royal Niger Company sold its holdings to the British government for ยฃ865,000 (ยฃ108 million today). That amount, ยฃ46,407,250 (NGN 50,386,455,032,400, at todayโ€™s exchange rate) was effectively the price Britain paid, to buy the territory which was to become known as Nigeria.

Jaja of Opobo was killed with a cup of tea in 1891.

King Jaja of Opobo (1821-1891), the wealthiest and most powerful monarch in the Niger Delta and sole founder of Opobo, was Igbo.

Born in his native Umuduruoha, Amaigbo, present-day Imo State, and named Mbanaso Okwaraozurumbaa at birth, he was captured by slave traders and sold into captivity in Bonny at the age of 12, where he earned his way out of slavery having also adopted the Ijaw-Ibani culture.

Though he generated astounding wealth for Bonny, when that kingdom's throne became vacant, his quest to vie for it was politically checkmated by a fellow wealthy slave (wealth was a deciding factor in monarchy).

Thus, he left with his supporters to establish a new town, Opobo, near Andoni. Bonny and its affiliated British merchants would come to regret that day.

The new development Jaja (aka Jubo Jubogha) relocated to in 1869, was named Opobo and the location was strategically positioned that he could transact first-hand with both national and international merchants, effectively becoming a monopolist in the oil palm trade.

Trade and the resultant wealth exploded so much so that his former British trading partners lost ยฃ100,000 (in 1870), and Bonny pleaded with him to return (which he refused).

He then came to the attention of Queen Victoria who, impressed by his influence, recognised him as King of Opobo in 1873 and also personally presented him with a sword in Buckingham Palace in 1875 after he sent troops to assist Britain in the Ashante War.

The Scramble for Africa began in the 19th century. Jaja was infamous for resisting foreign political and economic influence and he kept taxing the British merchants much to their indignation.

Greed and the fear of Jaja's influence led the new Consul-General, to invite Jaja out of his kingdom and on board a ship, ''The Goshawk'', for trade discussions.

Once on board, a deportation order was served on him. He was illegally tried and convicted in Gold Coast, present-day Ghana, in 1887, and exiled to Saint Vincent in the distant West Indies and to be later relocated to Barbados.

His pleas to return to his kingdom were granted in 1891. Unfortunately, he died in Tenerife, en route to Opobo, after being allegedly poisoned with a cup of tea. After his death, the influence of Opobo died with him.

Jaja's body was received with much sorrow by his people who gave him a full, honourable royal burial. He was 70.

๐Ÿšจ ๐˜ฝ๐™๐™€๐˜ผ๐™†๐™„๐™‰๐™†. After receiving death threats, Brazilian striker Willian departed his hometown club Corinthians, according to the former Chelsea star.

The 34-year-old winger, who has 70 caps for the Brazilian national side since his debut in 2011, left for Corinthians on a free transfer last summer, but his return has been anything but joyful.

Willian said on Friday that his contract with the club had been canceled and that he would be returning to Europe. The player and Fulham have been mentioned.

Willian told reporters at the Globo Esporte, "I did not come to Brazil to be threatened.

"My family received threats and curses on social media whenever Corinthians lost, as well as occasionally when I was performing poorly in the game. After some time, my wife and daughters began to assault my sister and my father as well.

While Corinthians was in second position in the Brazilian league, the team was ousted from two significant tournaments recently, and some supporters have blasted Willian for his poor play on the field.

"Corinthians accepted the athlete's termination and the impending contract expiration. Willian claimed to have personal, family, and exile-related issues.

Corinthians issued a statement saying that it regrets the player's choice but respects it.

Sadio Mane: โ€œI resisted hunger, I worked in the fields, I survived wars, I played football barefoot, I had no education and many more things, but today with what I earn from football, I can help my people. I built schools, a hospital, we offer clothes, shoes, food to people living in extreme poverty. In addition, I give 70 euros per month to all people in a very poor region of Senegal. I don't need to flaunt fancy cars, fancy villas, travel, let alone planes, I'd rather have my people get a bit of what life has given me." ๐Ÿ‘‘โค๏ธโšฝ

Brief History of รŒjรจbรบ-Jรจsร  land in Yorubaland

Ijebu Jesa which hitherto before now was known and called Ijebu Egboro is the ancient historic town in the east of Osun State, Nigeria occupies a strategic position in Ijesaland. In Ijesa division, it is the next most important town politically and in terms of history. Her Oba is the next to the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland. The town is situated eight kilometers north of Ilesa and about 128 kilometers east of Ibadan. It lies approximately on latitude 7.45 degrees north within the rain forest belt and so offers opportunity for farming on a large scale. The people are the core of Ijesas and are noted for their dogged industry.

Ijebu jesa was founded by Oba Agigiri Egboroganlada (first Onijebu Egboro) โ€“ a son of Oodua Olofin Aiye who was also an elder brother of Owa Obokun Ajibogun. Agigiri means โ€œthe battle or war waves hot (A de kโ€™ogun gbona girigiri)โ€. Ajibogun is interpreted as one who meets war (Ade ba ogun). Both Agigiri and Ajibogun were brought up by their grandmother known as Ijasin at Ilode in Ile Ife as twin brothers.

In about early 12th century, Agigiri and Ajibogun together left Ile Ife after procuring the sea water with which Ooduaโ€™s partial blindness was cured to found a kingdom of their own like other sons of Olofin. Before leaving Ile Ife, Oodua gave Owa Obokun a sword of conquest (Ida Ajasegun) and a bigger crown as the original procurer of the sea water. Oodua gave Onijebu โ€“ Egboro another crown for accompanying Owa to procure the sea water. He also gave Elegboro a calabash of mysterious juju objects in terms of spoken words of blessing or curse (Igba Ase), hence the Oriki โ€“ โ€œOnijebu Egboro, Omo awure fase banu.โ€ The two sons of Olofin later journeyed through the vast jungles conquering numerous settlers and subjecting the conquered territories under their control.

In the course of this, they conquered Igbadae, Ilowa, Ilemure and other smaller communities like Ijaregbe, Eesun, Oke ogun or Oke Aganun, Agbegan, Ijiku, Odo etc. They were at Ilowa when Oodua died. It was only Agigiri and Ajibogun out of all the children of their father who went back to Ile Ife to perform the burial of Oodua.

Both Owa and Elegboro Onijebu have a common boundary domain at Yaragbo till today. Because of their close birth relationship, they usually visited each other and they formally meet at Yaragbo (a sacred and restricted area) for consultation of โ€œAkokodaifa โ€“ Ogbomuyegeyege Orunto Ooduaโ€ for directives, guidance and to carry out sacrifice of safety, Unity and Progress for Owa and Onijebu-Elegboro and other Obas in Ijesaland. The โ€œAkokodaifa Ogbomuyegeyege Orunto Oodua was the first Ifa Oracle that must be consulted by Oodua before doing anything at all in those days.

When the creator of that Ifa (Oracle) priest (Asedaifa) who was the first consultant recommended seawater for curing of Oodua eyes, Oodua used the seawater with other concotion as recommended by the Ifa Priest and his eyes were restored. In a loud voice, Oodua acclaimed โ€œAkoda โ€“ Asedaifa โ€“ Oba Adifawi ose.โ€ โ€œLoni ni mo de o lโ€™Ade Ifa Oba Adifa gidiโ€. Oodua then crown him with a spiritual Ifa crown as โ€œOba Adifa wi seโ€, hence the special greetings of โ€œIba Akoda Iba Asedaifaโ€ by other Ifa (oracle) Priest and consultants in Yorubaland and diaspora. Oodua later instructed the Royal Priest and consultant to follow Owa and Elegboro-Onijebu to be their royal Priest and Spiritual Adviser as he, Oodua was very old and in appreciation of the procuring of seawater.

Oodua then gave โ€œEwodi Ooduaโ€ later known as โ€œEwodi Oodua Obokunโ€ to the consultant and the royal Priest as a weapon of setting quarrels between the two royal Obas (Owa and Elegboro) whenever such quarrels occur. The Ewodi was to be used in reminding them about their birthcord relationships-paternally and maternally. When Agigiri who lived for 183 years and who was usually referred to as โ€œOba-Agbaโ€ by Owa became very old to walk about, and because of his power and love in spiritualism he moved the Royal Priest consultant and the Ifa Oracle from Yaragbo to the consultant family House at Atiba near Obaloye in Ijebu-jesa. Since the Palace of the consultant and Royal Priest was moved to Ijebu-jesa by Agigiri, all royal Obas who were descendants of Oodua in Yorubaland, mostly especially in Ijesaland must come to Ijebu-jesa to consult the Ifa Oracle for directives and consultation before doing anything at their kingdoms. Even the Owa Obokun, the supreme King in Ijesaland can not do anything or pronounce or execute death penalty at Ilesa without coming to Ijebu Jesa for confirmation and sanction through the Ifa oracle, hence the Oriki โ€œOwa ki da ni pa ki Ijebu-Jesa ma mo.โ€

There are other lesser chiefs who are representatives of their quarters and see to the day to day administration of the areas with directives from the Oba through the most senior chiefs. These set of chiefs are called Looguns. There are four Looguns in Ijebu Jesa representing the four most distinct areas in the town. Each Loogun has twenty one supporting chiefs under their authority. At the head of the Looguns however, is the Lomode Ijebu Jesa. The current occupier of that position is Chief Komolafe, resident at Okenisa. He occupies the position not by age but by traditional seniority.

The four Looguns and their areas of jurisdiction are:
1. Loogun Odo oja 2. Loogun Ogbon Iloro 3. Loogun OdoEse 4. Loogun Otaforijeja The Odofin of Odogo also joins these set of chiefs in their meeting.

There are five ruling houses in Ijebu Jesa from which an Oba is selected. They are:
1. Aiyapaki-Ekun 2. Ide-Ekun 3. Lagunna 4. Nibaayo 5. Ajigiteri
