University Of Uyo Celebrates Heroes'Day

It was a thing of joy and honour as the Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Uyo branch ASUU -UUB converged to celebrate its members for their relentless efforts and services towards the growth and stability of the Union.

The event tagged 'Heroes'Day Celebration ',which was a cross section of various unions of the University,, Awardees and students took place at the One Thousand capacity TET Fund Auditorium, University of Uyo, main campus, Nwaniba Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

The Vice Chancellor and the chief Host, Prof Nyaudo Ndaeyo highly represented by Prof.Benjjamin Etuk appreciated the ASUU for organizing such occasion to honour and celebrate its members and some students, saying it was a moment of gladness since it wasn't a gathering to effect Industrial Action but a convention to put smiles on people's faces.

He applauded the Union for their selfless struggles and engagement, stressing that ASUU has gone miles by changing the narrative and by giving direction for a better university system which will augur well in the rare fruit.

In his keynote address, prof Des Wilson recalled the formative days of ASUU from the then University of Cross River State to its glorious day in the present University of Uyo. He hammered on the trying moment,whom he said was full of pains, denial, opposition, labelling, harassment and rejection.

Prof Wilson, was delighted to be part and parcel of the Union which educates, inspires and proffer solutions to problems that bothers on the citedal of learning and by extension, place the society in a better position. He regretted over political antics and the manipulative days of the University Registrar to hunt, castigate and even assign him a new country -Ghana, all to destabilize the Union.

He thanked members of the Union for their strategy, focus, teamwork and stability in liberating ASUU through their moral standards, brave courage, honesty, integrity and balance judgement.

Reflecting on the Essence of Heroes' Day, Dr. Happiness Uduk said during the course of Union's Assignment, that members died in a fatal accident at Lokoja, Kogi State when the Governor's convoy clashed with the Union's vehicle. She stressed that there is need for members to be celebrated and honoured as well, having considered the struggles.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Occasion Prof Emmanuel Owoioduokid of the Department of Economics, University of Uyo, dwelled extensively who is An"Heroe".He maintained that wealth, money and influence does not qualifies someone to be an heroe but total commitment and conviction for what a person believes, which he has found in the members of the Union. He further gave kudos to the leadership and the members of the organizing committee for a job well done.

The NLC Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Comrade Sunny James, in his goodwill message felt satisfied for being part the occasion and commended the Union for their gigantic strides and landmarks in resolving issues of the branch and that of the national level.

In their various remarks, members of SANU, NASU and NAAT expressed their satisfaction towards the leadership style of the ASUU -UUB.

Awards of recognition was presented to deserving members of ASUU -UUB in persons of Prof.Edet Peter ,Prof Des Wilson, Prof Joe Ushie, Prof AK pan Essiet, Prof Ashong Ashong and Dr Etoo Effiong Ndiyo.

Meanwhile, scholarship were given to outstanding students from various faculty in the University of Uyo among whom were Otobong Jeremiah, Sunday Sabestain, Umo Daniel Effiong, Emmanuel Tom, Thomas Gloria and many others.

Lion Ededem Asuakak has vowed to take the Lions International Club to an enviable height by embarking on and also executing lives touching projects of the world's largest club. He made the vow recently during his investiture ceremony as the 23rd president of Uyo Lions International for the 2023- 2024 service year, held at Edinan Hotels and Suite, Aka Etinan, Uyo -Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

In his well articulated speech, Lion Ededem Asuakak gave an in depth and insightful information about the club and stressed on the eigth focus service tagged "Golden Causes "which includes Vision, Diabetes, Hunger Relief, Childhood or Pediatric Cancer, Environmental Protection and Sustainability, Humanitarian Efforts/Disaster Relief, Engaging the youth and Relieving the Hunger. He promised to embark on at least five of the eight focus service by providing fifty-six spring matrasses to children of Mother Charles Walker Orphanage home, provision of three Diabetes Screening Machines tot three different Health Centres outside Uyo metropolis, sponsoring of three identified less privileged patients for cataract surgical operation. Others includes provision of food items to Uyo correctional centre, provision of three waste bin drums to be placed in the areas of needs to reduce incessant dumping of waste within Uyo and donation of two hundred thousand naira to support medical bills of children suffering from cancer at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital.

Lion Asuakak, however, acknowledged and recognized the efforts and sacrifices made by the founding members and past presidents for 22 years of the club existence especially the chartered president, PGD (Elder Nse Ekefre and the 2nd Vice District Governor, Lion (Elder Ezekiel Umo for their huge contributions in sustaining the club. He also appreciated the support of his caring, loving and beautiful wife, Idara and children Nsongurua and Mkpouto, his mentor, Loin Goodnews Nelson for introducing him into the club, District Governor, the chairman of the accasion, special Guest of Honours, Lion leaders, Leo's and guest for making the event worthwhile.

Meanwhile, Awards were presented to many deserving liion while Esther Thompson,Edoama Isaiah, Kufere Essien, Emmanuel Esara, Morning John, Joleen Rankin and Anietie Nkenta were inducted into the club.

The Federated Chapel, Nigerian Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council has held its Symposium 2023 with a theme, “Navigating The Socio-economic Challenges of Post Subsidiary Era in Akwa Ibom State",recently at the press centre,Information drive, Uyo, Akwa State, Nigeria.
Declaring the event open, the Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, Sen. (Dr.) Akon Eyakenyi, acknowledged the harsh economic realities experienced by the citizenry as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy. She said, the government of Akwa Ibom State through the Leadership of Gov. Umo Eno will do everything within his reach to ameliorate the effect of subsidy on the general public.
The Deputy Governor revealed that the state government has provided billions of naira to complement that of the federal government towards that direction.
Hon. Martins Esin, Member representing Oron Federal Constituency and the chairman of the Symposium observed that the pains are severe. He noted that its removal will lead to a vibrant and a steady economy by which new refineries will be built, while dilapidated ones repaired .
The federal law maker promised to work relentlessly with the House of Representative and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to bring a lasting solution, stressing that the government of Pastor Umo Eno had already started giving out food items, training and service through his ARISE Agenda.
Mr. Hanson Johnson, One of the panelists who spoke on “Tech Innovation and The New Economy”, stressed on the need for “New Economy” through technological innovations. He advised participants to create an enabling environment that can attract investors through social networking in which they can sell local product like raffia, babmboo, and leather abroad.

Lions Cluub International Uyo Shelter Afrique Lions Club District 404 A2-Nigeria has installed lion Bridget Taiwo as President for the 2023/2024 service year. The event which was a creme de la creme held the investiture ceremony recently at the Emrosy Hotel & Suites, Shelter Afrique Estate, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
In her delighted speech, Lion Bridget Taiwo appreciated the love and grace of God for accelerating her to a greater height to serve humanity. She pledged to do everything within her reach and that of organisation to embark on crucial projects that are in line with the five global causes of the lions clubs International which includes: Baby of the service year project, Donation of white cane to blind, Literacy project, Youth Enterepreneural development, Vision screening and Treatment, Diabetes awareness screening exercise, Hunger relief project and Environmental protection project.
While accepting the mantle of leadership, its responsibilities, challenges and commitment; the president promised to take the club to an enviable position by mounting a casted logo of the Lions club International at the entrance of the Shelter Afrique Housing Estate and Creating more awareness of the organisation that has done so much for community and humanity.

Pastor Victor Paul Hammers on Where Did I Miss It
- As Muustard Seed Youth Ends National Convention

The National Youth President of Mustard Seed church, Pastor Victor Paul has called on Christians to reflect on where they have done wrong and amend their ways in order to be in agreement with God and man. He made the call recently at the National Youth Convention, 2023 held at the headquarters, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State ,Nigeria.

Anchoring on the central theme , "Where Did I Miss It ?". Pst Paul disclosed that many people have missed it n various ways ranging from finance, business, profession, education, marriage to relationship.He stressed that it is imperative for them to ponder on their mistakes and make possible corrections for a better future.

Reading from Luke15: 11-24., the clergyman hammered on the story of an over ambitious son who after acquiring abundant wealth from the father, lavished it at a distant town and found himself eating with swines. He said the child later realise his mistakes and quickly returned to the father with a remorseful heart and the father accepted him as a prince.

Pastor Paul encouraged believers to have a soberr reflection on where they have missed out in life and return to God who is ever ready to receive them. This he said, one need to recognize his mistakes, trace where he has done wrong, delete it and replace it with good virtue in order to enjoy the blessings of God.

The convention which was a 3- day event featured sound messages, deliverance, song ministration, drama, dance, spoken word and a xisit to orphanage home.

Meanwhile, award of excellence was presented to the church chairman, Elder Ofonlme Isong while award of recognition were given to Deaconess Eno Asian, Deaconess Edu Paul, Deaconess Grace Eniang and Master Godswill Victor.

The General Overseer of Mustard Seed Churches Worldwide, Rev Dr Ini Okpon has commended God's kindness and faithfulness for accelerating him to limelight, despite tides and storms of life. He made the commendation in a thanksgiving service at the headquarters, 10 Akpan Etuk Street Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The service was held in honour of his mother, late Obongawan Mrs Alice Joseph Okpon.

Preaching on the topic, "Your Purpose On Earth ", Rev Dr Okpon revealed that the real essence of mankind on earth is to praise and worship God., adding that there is absolute need for Christians to be thankful in every situation. White citing the biblical portions of Ezekiel 28: 11- 15. Isaiah 14:12. 1 Peter 2: 9 and Psalms 150: 6, he encouraged believers to exhibit a benevolence heart of appreciating God always in order to replace the purpose of Lucifer's creation which was to praise God.

Stressing on the importance of thanksgiving, the clergyman reflected on the supernatural power of God on the release of Paul and Silas from prison as a result of their earnest worship. He maintained that praise alleviates tension, gives emotional strength and energises the brain .

The man of God therefore advised Christians to re- consider themselves as a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and a peculiar people meant to praise God who has called them out of darkness into His marvelous light. He, however, enjoined choresters to be mindful of their department and jurisdiction else Satan set in as a result of jealousy.

It was a blissful moment as friends and love ones gathered to celebrate a wonderful and a dedicated servant of God, Deacon Effiong Benson in a grand style. The event which coincided with that of Deacon Uwem Inyang and other June celebrants took place recently at Mustard Seed Church Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Nigeria

The celebrant , Deacon Benson, acknowledged the faithfulness of God for sustaining his life irrespective of trial moment. He, however, encouraged everyone to keep on trusting God in order to achieve their desires in life.

Deacon Effiong Benson christened Favour, is a cheerful giver, a philanthropist, a technician and a committed worker in the vineyard of God.

It was a moment of joy as youths of Mustard Seed Church and other denominations gathered to worship God in songs.

The event held recently at Mustard Seed church, Ikot Mbonde, Itu Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria was organized by pastor Victor Paul, National Youth President of the church to boost the desires of youths in serving God through the act of praise.

Gifts items ranging from foodstuffs, sewing machine to cash prizes were given out to deserving youths, as means of empowerment which is the cardinal point of pastor Victor Paul's administration,with eminent support of Prince Aniedi Okpon

The programme witnessed songs rendition by various branches of the church, while many gospel artistes warmed the house with soul lifting music.

Deacon Martinho akpan has called on youths to believe wholeheartedly in God for them to be beneficiaries of His excellent gift through Jesus Christ. He made the call recently at the monthly youth fasting held at Mustard Seed Church, High Tension Parish, Ikot mbonde - ITU road Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

In his message; " The Seven Gifts Of God Through Christ ", Deacon Martinho Akpan admonished youths to put their trust in God alone in order to gain access to all His wonderful gifts for growth and sustainability in life. While citing Romans 6 : 23, John 2 : 47 and 1 Corinthians 1 : 9; he highlighted the seven gifts to include: eternal life, righteousness, fellowship, holy spirit grace, the name of Jesus Christ and citizenship. He stressed that Christians cannot have access to these gifts unless they believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour, adding that these gifts had already been given to them before they were born.

He, however, advised believers to consider the name of Jesus Christ as paramount and sacrosanct to every other name.

Deaconess Glory Inyang in her charge, " Breaking Protocols ", encouraged youths to regard themselves as important instruments in the hands of God, meant to break limits and barriers of all kinds

Dwelling on Esther 4 : 16 - 17, the woman of God described protocol as as barriers put in place to hinder people's progress. She therefore, advised everyone to exhibit the spirit of humility, stressing that with strong desire through prayers and praises, protocol's will be lifted just like the biblical Esther, Zacheus and the woman with the issue of blood.

Anchoring on " Seeking God ", Evang. Ukeme Edet told believers to always seek for God at all times no matter how devastating the circumstances may be.
The vibrant evangelist reflected on the stories of Hannah and Joseph who allowed God to take priority in their lives and asked Christians to emulate them.

The service was crowned by prayer sessions, deliverance and benediction by pastor Victor Paul, the National Youth President.

PST (Mrs) Lizzy Paul Reveals The Mystery Behind The Triumphal Entry

PST (Mrs) Lizzy Paul has revealed to Christians all over the world that the journey of triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem was a fulfilment of the prophecy towards His death, adding that Christ knew oppositions will certainly arise at any given time and age. She gave the revelation recently while preaching as a Guest speaker at a 2-day Rejuvenating - The Triumphal Entry event held at Mustard Seed Church, Uyo - Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

In her delectable sermon; "The Message Of The Palm Sunday", the woman of God disclosed how Jesus Christ directed His disciples to fetch Him a tied donkey from the near by town for Him (Christ) to use for the triumphant journey. She said Jesus knew that the real owner of the donkey will certainly react and that He foretold the disciples to reply that the Lord is in need of it.

PST (Mrs) Paul maintained that the Triumphal Entry of Jesus Christ was a symbolic event to mark the end of every processes, challenges and adversities in the lives of Christians, while riding on the donkey through Cross. She added that in life; temptation, agony, pain, anxiety, betrayal and disappointment will set in, but Christ who happens to be the real owner of everything will always bring victory.

While driving home her message with a backgrounding view, the humble servant of God cited Luke 19: 29 as her central biblical portion and opined that sometimes God allows unpleasant and in significant circumstances to occur to believers so that He can use such a person for a specific purpose which she said is a typology of the " tied donkey " which was used by Jesus Christ for the triumphant entry.

The cleric encouraged Christians to forget their problems and look up to Jesus with a grateful heart, since He is looking for those that are available and not the able ones. She said the donkey was privileged for Christ to sat on it and also drove through the Cross of Calvary, which she described as a redemption, victory and glory for the entire Christians.

The service was spiced with prophetic declaration and songs ministration by the host choir, the incorruptible seed voices.

Mustard Seed Church Football Competition
- Upper Room Assembly Humbles High Tension Parish

The first ever internal football match of Mustard Seed Church saw Upper Room Assembly defeating High Tension Parish with 3-1 goal to reach the final stage of the competition.

The match played recently at the Community Secondary School Ikot Oku Ubo Uyo, Uyo Local Area, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria was organized by pastor Victor Paul, National Youth President of the church as part of the programmes for the upcoming National Youth Convention scheduled to take place soon.

Evag. ( Mrs) Udeme Gideon, the assistant pastor of Upper Room Assembly who was visibly present performed the kick off for the competition while the both side of the team commenced the game in spirit of sportsmanship.

During the first half, the High Tension Parish dominated the game with a 2-1 lead but the second half brought vigour to pastor Gideon's side as they eventually equalised the goal and forced the game to a penalty shoot out.

Upper Room Assembly is now set to face the winner in the subsequent game between House of Glory and Victorious Assembly.

The Wall Will Fall -Rev (Dr) Ini Okpon Admonished Christians.
-Jericho is just a symbol.

Rev Dr Ini Okpon, the General Overseer of Mustard Seed Church has attributed all challenges and contending tendencies experienced in life to walls barricating people in their various fields of human endeavour.
Dr Okpon gave the insight recently while preaching at the one year anniversary of Mustard Seed Church-(Victorious Assembly), Anwa Nsa, ikpa Road Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria.
In his message, "The Wall Will Fall", the clergy man revealed that God is still in the business of making every impossibility to become possible, stressing that God had already given jericho to Joshua before he (Joshua) approached the city.
He further disclosed that though jericho was an oldest inhabited place on earth, a cursed city and a place dominated by pegans; God needed Joshua to destroy the wall and set things alright, thereby paving way for the children of God to get to their destination.
The cleric reiterated that God uses the foolish things to conform the wise, adding that God is ready to change every ugly circumstances in Christians family, carrer, marriage, relationship and business.
He implored belivers to be rest assured that jericho is just a symbol, nothing that the presence of the Commander of God's Army will certainly fall the wall of jericho and the supernatural power will ameliorate every harsh situation.
Citing the biblical books of Joshua 6:1; 5:13-16; Judges 13:3 and 17-18; he narreted how God stood with moses and then with Joshua believing that when God ordains and blesses a man, He will always defend such a man.
Earlier, Pst (Amb) Isreal Silas; the presiding pastor of the victorious assembly, in his well articulated address, appreciated the benevolence heart of Rev(Dr) Ini okpon and pst Elizabeth Ann Mendoza for planting and fertilizing the church which has now metamorphosed to a victorious and glorious arena of serving and rebranding lives of ex-cultist, drunkard and prostitutes (Waywards).
Pst Elizabeth Ann Mendoza in her brief exhortaion, thanked the almighty God and revealed that her task in Africa is a onerous one and maintained that God speaks to faithfuls through Holy spirit. She, however, opined that Holy spirit is the ultimate force that can accelerate a person to a destined height.
Meanwhile, the Victorious Assembly was built and commissioned by Rev ( Dr) Ini Okpon with kind assistanceof pst Elizabeth Ann Mendoza on 20th Febuary, 2022..
The high point of the event was the cutting, of the anniversary cake and songs rendition by the host choir(Victorious Voices) and Mustard Seed Mass Choir.

Evag, GraceObong Celebrates Birthday

History surrounding the 28th May has a significant and magnificent root in the life of cEvag, GraceObong as she celebrates another blissful birthday in a grand style.

The event which was organized by pastor Emmanuel Ben, the lead pastor of Mustard Seed Church (House Of Glory) Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, sponsored by her mum, took the celebrant by surprise.

Astonished by the orchestrated occasion, the celebrant acknowledged the love of God for preserving her life, while also commending the effort of pastor Ben and her mother for making her birthday a reality and colourful. She, however, extended her heartfelt appreciation to Deacon Edadi Emmanuel ,Donatus Ekong land the cake designer for honoring her day.

Deacon Edadi Emmanuel and Donatus Ekong in their separate speeches described Evag, GraceObong as loving, caring, peaceful and respectful woman of God and therefore, wished her accelerated blessings in life.

Meanwhile, the event was crowned by the cutting of the birthday cake by the celebrant and the subsequent refreshment.

Mustard Seed Church Celebrates Children Convention

The 2O23 national children convention of Mustard Seed Church came to a successful end with a strong admonition on children to grow in the grace of God by exhibiting the Sterling qualities of Jesus Christ.

The event which was a synergy of ideas and a cross fertilization of Godly talents that cut across various branches, saw children converging at the church headquarters Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, to chat à new course.

Preaching on the topic; "Growing Through Grace", Master Edidiong Abel Eden of the High Tension Parish, Itu Road Uyo, Akwa Ibom State revealed that grace is a divine influence made available to believers through Jesus Christ. He stated that Jesus Christ is grace and enjoined children to embrace Christ as their Lord and personal saviour in order to excel in life.

Citing John 1: 14 and Acts 2O: 2O; he encouraged Gifted Arrows to have a burning desire for God, by reading their Bibles and cultivating Godly virtue, stressing that it was grace that brought Esther and Joseph out of obscurity to limelight.

Pastor Eden,however, prayed for the grace of God to be sufficient upon all the children.

Meanwhile, the children had earlier visited Ibom Tropicana for their annual convention picnic, where they all had fun with their teachers.

University Of Uyo pharmacy Induction: Edidiong Equere Has Chosen The Right path.

Recently the university of Uyo, Uyo Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, stood agog as it celebrates new entrants into Nigeria Council or pharmacy, this indeed, was an honour to the university community parents, guardains and the general public as graduants of this prestigious department embarks on a new phase of innovations and discoveries just in a way of adding value to humanity.
With intimidating performance, Edidiong Equere happened to be among the celebrants, Born some years ago into a Royal family of Mr and Mrs Ifiok Equere in Etinan local Government Area of Akwaibom State, Nigeria. As a first child and a rising sun in the family of four, She started her primary school education at FULGA International school uyo, Moved to NUCO Nursery and Primary School Uyo and completed it at Holy Child International, Ikot Ekpene, all in Akwaibom State. She ,however, attended Edwina college and Federal Government College Ikot Ekpene for her Secondary School Qualification.
In pursuit for higher academic attainment, Edidiong gained admission to study pharmacy in the University of Uyo, Uyo Akwaibom State. Like Christopher Columbus who challenged the monarch of Spain by saying "Show me where the sun rise and I will sail to the end of the world".
This singular aspiration made him to discover a newwest continent, America, where the latest innovations, inventions and discoveries are made. Edidiong rugged and determined, has set a Standard by achieving this feat in no distance time and at a very tender age, This, she has accomplished through rigorous studies.
The amazon of our time, pretty, alluring and delightful has proven to youths that, there is a reward in commitment to service or duty. A genius, when it comes to academics and ministerial works. Her angelic and sonorous voice do attracts angels, making Angel Gabriel to descend with a gift each time she sings, while also making human beings have reasons to thank God for this rare gift.
Ensuring to make her youthful age worth, Edidiong chose to follow the path of values, the direction that has paid her well. Edidiong has engaged her youthful exuberance in liturgial service to the fullness. As a child of honour, She is a born pharmacist, an intellect, a humble and amiable girl. Pst(Mrs) Glory King Urges Christians To Embark On Divine Assignment

Christians faithful in the country and around the world have been advised to tow the right path by embarking on divine mandate given to them by Jesus Christ

PST (Mrs) Glory King, a seasoned preacher in Mustard Seed Church,Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, issued the advice recently during a Sunday feast.

Consolidating on the central theme of the month, " The Assignment ", the woman of God while preaching on the topic, " Divine Assignment ", said that every Christian ha's a task of broadcasting the gospel as directed by Christ. She stressed that disseminating of good news was not meant for preachers alone, hence the biblical great commission, " Go ye to the world and preach the gospel, baptizing them in the name of God the father, the Son and the Holly spirit ".

Relying on Mathew 28 : 18 - 2O and Jeremiah 1 : 5,; she stated that God knem everyone before they were born and has apportioned duties for them to fulfill on earth, just like Moses, Joshua, Elijah, Elisha, David and others in the bible who fulfilled their works in various ways.

The preacher and International gospel singer went ahead to revealed four ways of adhering to divine assignment to include: discovering of oneself, limiting of things around, willingness for individual assessment and adapting to change. She encouraged believers to embark on the mandatory work of evangelism, whether be a pastor or an ordinary member, stressing that the glorious crown awaits them.

She, however, decried the lackadaisical attitude of Christians towards the great order and prayed for sufficient grace to abound.
