Senate okays nine higher institutions, Buhari's hometown gets one

The Senate on Wednesday approved the establishment of 10 new higher institutions across the country.

The resolution was made after the federal lawmakers adopted the report of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund.

The committee’s chairman, Jibrin Barau, presented the report for consideration.

The 10 new higher institutions approved by the Senate include one polytechnic to be located in the hometown of President Muhammadu Buhari, Daura in Katsina State.

The federal lawmakers agreed that the establishment of the institutions would open up the education space in the country.

They also expressed the belief that the step would assist the country to fight illiteracy.

The Senate also said that the approval of the establishment of the institutions was in line with the policy to establish polytechnics across the states.

The approved institutions include Federal Polytechnic, Kabo; Federal Polytechnic Daura; Federal University of Education, Aguleri; National Institute of Construction Technology and Management and Federal Polytechnic, Ikom.

Others are Federal College of Education(Technical) Arochukwu, Abia State; Federal Polytechnic Langtang, Plateau State; Federal College of Education, Usugbenu-Irua; Federal University of Technology, Manchok and Federal Polytechnic Kwale, Delta State.

Medical Personnel Deployed to Evacuate Dead Bodies of Slained Nigerian Soldiers Captured by Boko Haram in Borno

...As Angry Soldiers reveals how Army Generals are using fight Against insurgency for financial gain

A soldier serving in one of the attacked areas by Boko Haram yesterday revealed to The Elite Times that some Army Generals are using the fight against insurgency for financial gain.

He however did not mention the names of the Generals, promising to speak more in few days time.

He also said that medical professionals that went to carry the dead bodies of the troops have captured alive by Boko Haram Fighters.

He said the army brigade was withdrawn a week before the gruesome attack that claimed the lives of many soldiers occurred.

The soldier who spoke on condition of anonymity said nine soldiers were killed a week before the recent attack was carried out. He revealed that the strength of soldiers present at the attacked base was not up to a battalion at the time of attack.

He said "The strength of the soldiers there is not even up to a company not talk of battalion".

"No armament to fight and the ones we have are deadly weapons".

The soldier also revealed that information from the camp is being leaked out to attackers, therefore helping them to stage a coordinated attack on the military.

"Our generals are the one giving them info about the camp and the equipment they have and even tell them ied are planted so that they will not take the direction". He said

"This whole thing was cooked up by our generals so that they will ask the government for money to fight the insurgency".

"And they will never buy all these armament rather they share the money among themselves".

The soldier said that his colleagues are afraid and not ready to fight since it is known to them that it's a game play on them.
