The Gospel passage for today apparently derives from St. John the Baptist's account of Jesus, although certain scriptural analysts contend that Jesus Himself spoke these words, which John later recorded in his testimony. This message provides insight into the true nature of love.
What constitutes love? Secularly speaking, love is often misconstrued as desire or possession, whereas divine love is selfless and charitable.
We understand "The Father loves the Son" through the Father's act of surrendering His entire being to Him. This love is characterized by generosity, rather than self-interest.
Divine love is infinite and unrelenting; the more we give, the more we possess. The Father's perpetual generosity epitomizes pure love.
Similarly, in our lives, love demands the unconditional surrender of ourselves. True love brings profound satisfaction.
Reflect on your understanding of love today: Are you willing to surrender completely, emulating the Father? Choose to embody and emulate divine love.
Heavenly Lord, having received all from the Father, You have given Yourself back entirely. Your boundless love flows to all creation. Envelop me in Your divine love and guide me to emulate and share it by dedicating my life to others. Jesus, I place my trust in You. Amen 🙏
