*DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE*

FRIDAY 15TH APRIL, 2022

*THE SCAPEGOAT*

📜TEXT:LEVITICUS 16:20-34📜

🔑📖```KEY VERSE:``` _*"And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness" (LEVITICUS 16:22).*_

"He who is bread of life began His ministry hungering. He who is the water of life ended His ministry thirsty. Christ hungered as man, and fed the hungry as God. He was weary, and He is our rest... He prayed, and yet He hears prayers. He wept, and He dries out tears. He was sold for thirty pieces of silver, and redeemed the world. He was led as a Lamb to be slaughtered, and He is the Good Shepherd. He died, gave His life, and by dying destroys death" - aired on _Christian Broadcasting Network._

Our passage focuses on the sacrifices made by Aaron, the high priest, for the atonement of the sins of Israel. Of particular interest is the selection of two goats. One of the goats was to be killed and the blood was taken into the tabernacle and sprinkled on the mercy seat. It was to be sacrificed for the rolling back of Israel's sins. The second goat (the scapegoat) was to be turned away into the wilderness after the priest had laid his hands upon its head, confessing the sins of all Israel on it as their sin-bearer.

The ceremonies found in the Old Testament tabernacle of the congregation and the sacrifices made for sin, all pointed to Christ, our sin-Bearer. He equally represents the scapegoat upon whom the sins of Israel is placed. He is acquainted with our grief; a man of sorrow, by whose stripes we are healed. He was denied justice, which represents the most cynical example of injustice (Isaiah 53:3-11).

Our salvation does not depend on our good works. It comes through faith in the vicarious death of Christ on the cross.

✍🏽```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:``` _*Christ became the Victim to make us victors.*_

📜THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:*PSALM 85-88*📜

*MEDITATION*

*The day of atonement*

*1. The foreview*
a. Israel, once every year, separated a day as the day of atonement, v30.
b. The High priest also entered the Holy of holies once every year at the day of atonement, v34.
c. Some of the activities in this day included fasting (v29), confession of past sins on the scapegoat which would eventually be sent to the wilderness (v21), killing of both sin and burnt offerings for the whole nation (vv24,27) and High priest's entering the Holy of holies to make sacrifice for the sins of Israel (v34).
d. This day, all the past sins of Israel were covered but not cleansed and hence the need for the day of atonement yearly, Psalms 32:1.

*2. The fulfilment*
a. Jesus is our scapegoat who bore and suffered for all our sins on the cross, Isaiah 53:6.
b. He did this once and no more a yearly event.
c. He is both the High priest and the sin offering and as such a perfect sacrifice perfectly acceptable to God with no need for yearly day of atonement, Hebrews 7:26,27.
d. His blood does not *cover sins* but *cleanses* sin so that there is no remembrance of the past sins after repentance and forgiveness, I John 1:9, Hebrews 8:12.
e. Since He has perfectly paid the price, fasting and good works are no more necessary for salvation except "repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ".
f. Self condemnation and recurring guilty conscience after true repentance and forgiveness is not of God but mere unbelief.

*Question*
Do you belief that the sacrifice of Jesus for your sins is enough for your salvation?

*Prayer points*
Praise God for the perfect sacrifice of Jesus for our sins🙏
Pray that God will help all sinners at the retreat to secure forgiveness and assurance of salvation 🙏
Pray that the message of salvation will be clear and unresistable for all sinners at the retreat 🙏
Ask God to reveal and release abundant blessings that Jesus died for at the retreat🙏

*HYMN* There is power in the blood.(GHS 39)

TOPIC: GOD WHO KNOWS ME INSIDE OUTSIDE

READ: PSALMS 139:1-24

1 O LORD, You have searched me and known me.
2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.
3 You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether.
5 You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it.
7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall a on me,” Even the night shall be light about me;
12 Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You. 13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; b Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.
17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.
19 Oh, that You would slay the wicked, O God! Depart from me, therefore, you bloodthirsty men.
20 For they speak against You wickedly; Your enemies take Your name in vain. c
21 Do I not hate them, O LORD, who hate You? And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred; I count them my enemies.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties;
24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.

MEMORISE:
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made, marvellous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well (Psalms 139:14)

EXPOSITION
The fact that God knows man intrinsically and extrinsically amazed the Psalmist so much that he said that such knowledge was too wonderful for him; too high to attain. The truth is that, God knows all about man. What is inside man and those situations around him, are not hidden from God. He knows man inside outside, i.e in his entirely. God needs no one to introduce man to Him *(Jn. 2:25)*. After all, He is Omniscient.

God knows you well, more than you know yourself. He predetermined your life. All that you are going to be are already determined in His master - plan. Isn't it better to go to God for the blueprint of your life, rather than dragging your life with Him Who owns the key that opens and closes your existence?;A Yoruba adage translates, "A co**se does not hide its parts from the one who is to bath it." Isn't it better to open up to the One Who knows you entirely? Those who have adjusted their belief systems against God and His supreme existence are doing themselves the worst of harms, because the fact that they claim there is no God neither stops His existence nor reduces His power in any way.

That God is all-knowing, all -seeing, all-powerful, and present everywhere should trigger us to praise, honour and revere Him the more, as well as fear, trust and obey Him. It should also move us to call upon Him for help and intervention in all situations. We should cooperate with Him. You cannot hide Him.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, I thank You for making me, fearfully and wonderfully, in Your Own image and likeness, and for Your good thoughts towards me.

2. Lord, help me to be conscious of the fact that You know me entirely, and to translate this to close relationship with You.

TOPIC: THE 'I AM THAT I AM' OF MY LIFE

Read Isaiah 46:1-5
1 Bel bows down, Nebo stoops; Their idols were on the beasts and on the cattle. Your carriages were heavily loaded, A burden to the weary beast.
2 They stoop, they bow down together; They could not deliver the burden, But have themselves gone into captivity.
3 “Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, And all the remnant of the house of Israel, Who have been upheld by Me from birth, Who have been carried from the womb:
4 Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you. 5 “To whom will you liken Me, and make Me equal And compare Me, that we should be alike?

MEMORISE: Even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you (Isaiah 46:4).

EXPOSITION
We are serving a Living God, who was, is, and will forever be! At the time when His people were languishing in the dungeon of slavery in Babylon, overwhelmed with their hopeless and helpless situation, the Lord assured them of His presence and purpose, through His servant. He reminded them of His name with which He liberated their forefathers from the Egyptian slavery: ... "I AM WHO I AM" or 'Yahweh' (Exod. 3:14). In a way, He was passing it across to them that He is the only eternally existing One! Before any of us was born, He was 'He', and throughout our lives span, He remains the only 'He' of our lives. Note that He says, 'I am'. "I am" today, "I am" tomorrow, "I am" forever. He doesn't say, "I was" or "I will be," He had been existing before eternity. Therefore, He is eternal. He is the Ancient of Days who doesn't change in personality, position, purpose and power. He is absolute in that He neither can be added to, nor removed from. He is permanently and completely constant. Absolutely, i.e. immediately and ultimately, He remains the only 'He' of our lives.
Upon entering into the world, many of us come across possessions, positions, and pleasures. We do not come into the world with them. Paul clarifies this under inspiration, saying: 'For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out' (1 Tim. 6:7). But these later known forces, or gods (possessions, positions and pleasures) have turned many into something else! Whereas, all these will soon become irrelevant; they cannot carry us longer, but God says, right from your conception, birth, infancy, adulthood, old age and grey hairs, He remains the only 'He' of your life! Have you come to terms with this truth through, and in our Lord Jesus Christ?

PRAYER POINTS
1. Begin to bless the Only 'He' of your life--Jehovah Almighty.
2. Pray for the grace to remain faithful to Him as the only Lord and Master of your life, all the days of your life.
3. We declare that You are Lord of all, sovereignty overruling everywhere--people, land and clime.

TOPIC: A SON, OR A BASTARD?

Read 2 Samuel 15:1-14

1 After this it happened that Absalom provided himself with chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him.
2 Now Absalom would rise early and stand beside the way to the gate. So it was, whenever anyone who had a lawsuit came to the king for a decision, that Absalom would call to him and say, “What city are you from?” And he would say, “Your servant is from such and such a tribe of Israel.”
3 Then Absalom would say to him, “Look, your case is good and right; but there is no deputy of the king to hear you.”
4 Moreover Absalom would say, “Oh, that I were made judge in the land, and everyone who has any suit or cause would come to me; then I would give him justice.”
5 And so it was, whenever anyone came near to bow down to him, that he would put out his hand and take him and kiss him.
6 In this manner Absalom acted toward all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel. 7 Now it came to pass after forty a years that Absalom said to the king, “Please, let me go to Hebron and pay the vow which I made to the LORD.
8 For your servant took a vow while I dwelt at Geshur in Syria, saying, ‘If the LORD indeed brings me back to Jerusalem, then I will serve the LORD.’ ”
9 And the king said to him, “Go in peace.” So he arose and went to Hebron.
10 Then Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, “As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, ‘Absalom reigns in Hebron!’ ”
11 And with Absalom went two hundred men invited from Jerusalem, and they went along innocently and did not know anything.
12 Then Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counselor, from his city—from Giloh—while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy grew strong, for the people with Absalom continually increased in number. David Escapes from Jerusalem
13 Now a messenger came to David, saying, “The hearts of the men of Israel are with Absalom.”
14 So David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, “Arise, and let us flee, or we shall not escape from Absalom. Make haste to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly and bring disaster upon us, and strike the city with the edge of the sword.”

MEMORISE:
So they pitched a tent for Absalom on the top of the house, and Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel (2 Samuel 16:22).

EXPOSITION
Absalom means "Father of peace." He was the third son of King David through Princess Maacah, a foreign woman from Geshur. He was perfect in body, handsome, charming, eloquent, and dignified, but traitorous, murderous, merciless, godless, vindictive, and self-centred. He murdered his elder brother, Amnon, betrayed his father, sought a kingdom he was in no way qualified to rule, and died in vanity.
Absalom had earlier fled into exile sequel to the uproar that followed the murder of his elder brother, Amnon, who had incestuously abused Absalom's sister, Tamar. Thank God for General Joab who was instrumental in reconciling Absalom to his father, David (2 Sam. 13:22-39; 14:1-33). Most annoying and and saddening, according to today's devotional text, is that Absalom decided to spite his benevolent and loving father, David, who had just pardoned him, by mobilising the populace against him. 2 Samuel 15:12b says, 'And the conspiracy grew strong, for the people with Absalom continually increased in number'. And this caused the hurried flight of his beloved father and reigning king into exile (v. 14ff). Psalm 3:1ff explains the great trauma the ageing king passed through during this hour.
A son is a male child born in legal marriage, while a bastard is a child born out of wedlock. Absalom proved himself rightly as being born of a concubine (3rd wife) of David. As a son, you must beware of what you do so as not to break your parents' hearts and thus abuse their love and priceless divinely recognised labour and authority over you (Eph. 6:1-3). Don't fall into Absalom's error (2 Sam. 15:12,31; 16:20-23). Not all counsels and counsellors are of God. Such a wrong step can lead to an ignoble, sudden and gruesome death (18:9-18). This is where JESUS comes in. Accept His lordship, NOW, to escape such doom (Jn. 1:12,13).

PRAYER POINTS
1. Thank God for the parents through whom you were born to this world.
2. Ask God for forgiveness of all your inglorious attitudes to your parents.
3. Pray for children who are misbehaving against their parents to come to their senses and return home like the prodigal son.

TOPIC: THE POWER AND THE FORM

Read 2 Timothy 3:1-9

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts,
7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith;
9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

MEMORISE:
Having a form of godliness but denying its power (2 Timothy 3:5).

EXPOSITION
Power is described, inter-alia, as "the ability to do or control something or things... It is strength or influence." The true power of God in a Christian '...is Christ in you, the hope of glory' (Col. 1:27). He is the substance of our faith. We are nothing without Him, not in the least! (Jn. 15:4,5ff). He is the Power being wielded in all the nations and by all the kings of the earth (Rev. 11:17,18; cf. Col. 1:15-18), even that of the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven (Mk. 16:20). This is the POWER!
However, 'form,' means "the particular way something is, looks, seems, or is presented...a type or variety of something." This is what Apostle Paul addressed critically in his second Epistle to Bishop Timothy in chapter three. This is to say that the corrupted nature of man will be so manifested in the last days that it will literally want to practically negate the true message, life, substance, mission, and potency of the Grace of God, which is the ministry of true liberty (vv. 1-5ff).
There shall be a people who are seemingly of the Church of Christ Jesus, but are in the actual sense, not (cf. 2 Tim. 3:5). These shall be a praying, singing, teaching, evangelical, tithing, etc. company of so called believers who are actually sinners, even though highly religious! These are, according to Peter, the presumptuous, self-willed, accursed children who are cloud without water; twice dead heretics and blasphemers who are only known by their noice-making (2 Pet. 2:1ff).
Paul, in addition, describes these ones as ever learning but never coming to the knowledge of Truth that sets free (2 Tim. 3:5). They are rebels, of corrupt minds, and reprobate or immoral, concerning what true Christianity is (vv. 7,8). He finally counsels, '...from such people turn away!' (v. 5), for '...they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all' soon (v. 9).

PRAYER POINTS
1. Thanks be to God Almighty Who is able to keep us to the end.
2. Dry up and die, now, everything in me that is still cooperating with the devil and his corruption.
3. Lord, don't allow the spirit of hypocrisy to creep in and take root in our youth and campus fellowships, in Jesus' name.

TOPIC: CONSCIENCE IS AN OPEN WOUND

Read Genesis 33:1-9

1 Now Jacob lifted his eyes and looked, and there, Esau was coming, and with him were four hundred men. So he divided the children among Leah, Rachel, and the two maidservants.
2 And he put the maidservants and their children in front, Leah and her children behind, and Rachel and Joseph last.
3 Then he crossed over before them and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
4 But Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept.
5 And he lifted his eyes and saw the women and children, and said, “Who are these with you?” So he said, “The children whom God has graciously given your servant.”
6 Then the maidservants came near, they and their children, and bowed down.
7 And Leah also came near with her children, and they bowed down. Afterward Joseph and Rachel came near, and they bowed down.
8 Then Esau said, “What do you mean by all this company which I met?” And he said, “ These are to find favor in the sight of my lord.” 9 But Esau said, “I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself.”

MEMORISE:
Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst (John 8:9)

EXPOSITION
An African proverb translates, "The pounded yam of 20 years can still be as hot in one's hand as it was 20 years ago." Guilty conscience is an internal voice that tells what one has done wrong intentionally or accidentally, and this may help him/her to fix his/her mistakes. It is what helps you decide whether your actions or impulses are good or bad. Little do men know when they rob others, that they have actually robbed themselves of their peace of mind, relationship, joy, or any good.
Jacob was happy taking his brother's birthright and blessings without knowing he would have to crawl before that same brother one day. After 20 years of separation, he was still afraid his brother would revenge, so he packaged his concubines and their children in front, so that if Esau hit them, no problem! Only let him not touch his darling Rachael and her children. Can we ask Jacob who cunningly took what belonged to his brother why he became the servant?
Oh! Sin will only succeed in bringing you down, because it is a reproach to anybody (Prov. 14:34). Sin will make you fear and be enslaved until you are bold to make peace with God and humans involved. Jacob tried not to appear before his brother, because his conscience had not been cleared--guilty conscience (vv. 13,14). Though circumcised in the body, his heart was filthy. Avoid sin like plague, or else you may not easily forgive yourself later, even when God does. Some of the symptoms of guilt include regret, self-doubt, self-esteem, shame, self-help, etc. Conscience is an open wound, only truth can heal it.
To have a free conscience, let God's will take its course naturally. Speak and act the truth in season and out of season (2 Tim. 4:2), for there lies the oil to heal your wounded conscience.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, deliver me from venturing into actions, reactions and inactions that can be regretted now or later in life.
2. Lord Jesus, wash my conscience clean, by Your precious blood, of things that can hinder smooth relationship with You and others.
3. O God, instil in the lives of leaders at various levels/capacities the right conscience to debar them from doing wrong things with impunity.

Read: Deuteronomy 28:15-68

Deuteronomy 28:15-68 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.
Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.
Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.
The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.
The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.
And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.
The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away.
The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.
The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart:
And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.
Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.
Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to rescue them.
Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.
The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:
So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
The LORD shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.
The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.
And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee.
Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.
Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them.
Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit.
Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.
All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume.
The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.
He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.
Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:
And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young:
And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.
And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.
And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:
So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:
So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.
The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,
And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.
If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD;
Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.
Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.
And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.
And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.
And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:
And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:
In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.

MEMORISE: But if they do not obey, the shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge Job. 36:12).

EXPOSITION
The act of disobedience is a common phenomenon in our society. Disobedience has no grade; there is no lower or higher disobedience. All acts of disobedience equally cause God pain. Has there been any measuring rod for sin? No! Once you disobey, you are a sinner before the Lord. Disobedience is the act of neglecting, overlooking or refractory.

However, we are surrounded with. Temptations in our society, in the church, and our workplaces, we need not follow the godless trends others follow. We must show the good and godly example to others in our attitudes through simple obedience. We need to checkmate what we desire and choose, because most of these of these things lead us out of God's presence, and the end is death (Jas. 1:14-15).

No disobedient child goes unpunished, because disobedience itself attracts punishment. Things like confusion, conflict, regret, pain, agony, disaster, sickness, turbulence, storms, and many more are rewards of disobedience. It opens door to all kinds of evil. Don't forget that you were created by God to live to please Him. The reason for your existence is to obey God.

We are in a generation where people find it easier to disobey God than to obey Him. You are not greater than your creator, and you can't predict for Him. He knows what is best for you. Blessings are not far from those who obey Him, while agony visits the disobedient. God won't disappoint those who don't disappoint Him. There is blessing in obedience, and curses lie in disobedience (Read Deut. 28:1-end). Every good things of God is rooted in obedience to Him, while disobedience comes with disaster in its wake.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. I possess the spirit of obedience from now on, in Jesus' mighty name.
2. O Lord, expunge the spirit of disobedience from me, in Jesus'name.
3. Pray for CAC Babajide Region, our father in the Lord, the Superintendent, and its officers at the various levels, as led by the Spirit of God.
