AKWA IBOM AS A HUGE PRISON!
By Uduak Edward
Gradually, Akwa Ibom has become a huge prison! Although we live in an illusion of freedom, since we still walk around without visible barricades and chains, our condition isn’t better than that of prisoners. Truly, our state has become a huge prison with an iron-fist warden called Udom!
His team? Very mean. In fact, as mean, covetous and treacherous as the master-warden. Through them, the Freemasonry lot, Udom imposes his preferences on us. After all, to them, we are mere prisoners; not free-borns who should partake as equal stakeholders in the affairs of our state.
Since Akwa Ibom is a prison, democracy doesn’t play here. “Dictator Abacha” reigns supreme. In the present system, our needs are never considered as the emperor does not give us the liberty of choice in anyway on any matter. It is why he is antagonistic against OBA, who seeks to free us during 2023 General Election.
Udom wants us caged forever. That is the meaning of his “continuity” agenda, where hunger, poverty, deprivation, economic strangulation, social disharmony are to continue. That is why Udom wants to impose his unpopular stooge on the majority - because he thinks we are all his his prisoners!
Apart from lying, bribing some vulnerable ones amongst us to suppress the questioning of his oppressive schemes, Udom cheats us of provisions budgeted for our welfare and wellbeing since he considers us as his worthless prison inmates.
He puts our freedom fighters out of circulation, so that his cabal can misappropriate our commonwealth without being questioned. While we do not enjoy our entitlements from the state, he, his family and co-conspirators feast on our well deserved portions. We are neglected and starved so that on election days, with hungry stomach, he can offer bribes to buy our votes. Imagine the wickedness!
This Chief-warden-governor is so wicked, merciless and insensitive to lamentations, no matter how loud the citizens cry. Like in a typical Nigerian prison, he diverts what is meant for our care and serves us leftover crumbs not fit for his dogs. Yet, he gets annoyed with anyone who dares to criticize his oppressive leadership.
Take, for instance, the refund of 13% percent derivation money of over 500 billion which he hid from us until the lid was blown open by Gov. Wike. He had scattered it as spoil of war amongst his cabal, while the citizens starve. democracy equitably.
Udom, the prison warden, filters soup of the ingredients, and serves the inmates with ration their own dogs or cats would reject. Imagine releasing a paltry N2 billion to pay retirees, when the total indebtedness is over N36 billion. And after seven years of non-payment of students’ bursary, he released only N200 million for the purpose, when actually about N2 billion is needed - just because election is near.
Like a prison warden, Udom takes two bags of rice to cook for prisoners. Yet, one-and-a-half bags go for private use, while a half bag is used to feed hundreds of the citizens. It is why poverty and suffering are written on the faces of the citizens.
To break from this undeserving shackle, we must vote for Obong Bassey Albert as the next governor. With a generous leader like OBA, business grants will be in surplus to Akwa Ibom people, who will be grouped into cooperatives. Grants and scholarships will be paid dutifully, instead of siphoning public funds through white elephants.
OBA's problem with the present leadership started when he kicked against their injustice, insensitivity to the citizens’ welfare as well as asked questions about monies meant for economic well-being of the masses. It is because of the senator's resolve to stop the exploitation of the masses that the ruling cabal is determined to put him out of circulation in order to stop him from changing the narrative.
His determination to liberate the masses is why we should appreciate his sacrificial role, and remain steadfast in support of the Young Progressives Party, YPP. The imminent ballot revolution should never be compromised because of peanuts meant to influence our conscience. Don't sell your votes. Vote OBA; vote YPP; vote the green leaves!
