MEMORY LANE
'NIGERIA' was derived from 'NIGER AREA' which is the area around the NIGER RIVER running through the country. This name was coined in 1897 (according to historical sources) by a British journalist FLORA SHAW. Before 1897, 'NIGERIA' was known as The Royal Niger Company Territories.
The Southern Nigeria protectorate, and the Northern Nigeria protectorate were created in 1900. The colony of Lagos which was annexed in 1861, joined the Southern Nigeria protectorate in 1906, and the territory became known as the Colony and protectorate of Southern Nigeria.
In 1914, the Northern Nigeria protectorate was merged with the Colony and protectorate of Southern Nigeria and the territory became known as the Colony and protectorate of Nigeria.
On 1 October 1954, the colony and protectorate of Nigeria became the Federation of Nigeria.
On 1 October 1960, the federation of Nigeria was granted independence by the British, and on 1 October 1963 Nigeria became a republic. On 6 July 1967, the civil war broke out which ended on 15 July 1970.
On May 29 1999, Nigeria went back to a democratic rule after decades of military rule that began in 1966.
From 1 October 1960 to 1 October 2019 is 59 years. Therefore, MYHOODtv wishes Nigeria long life and prosperity.

Saheed Adetola a.k.a Jagaban is the host and founder of UNITY CUP Aboru.

He comes up with social events in Aboru, Agbado/Okeodo LCDA, Lagos State to unite the youth, to encourage them in their sporting and entertainment careers, and to discourage them from going into crimes. Jagaban is happily married with two(2) kids.

Unity Cup is back again!!!

Unity Cup is a football (soccer) tournament held annually in Aboru, Agbado/Okeodo LCDA, Lagos State. The 12-team event, began in 2018 and was founded by Adetola Saheed (aka Jagaban) as a result of his love for soccer and his desire to encourage the youth in their sports careers.

Unity Cup 2019 will commence on the 15th of September, 2019 by 3pm in Lemmy field, Pipeline Road, Aboru and it promises to be better than the previous one as the winning team goes home with N50,000 and N30,000 for the runner up.
Kabiesi Obama FC is the defending champion.
