*FORMER GOVERNOR NYESOM WIKE RAISED THE BAR OF GOVERNANCE IN RIVERS STATE* :

The Founder of Green Assembly Initiative and former National Secretary of Nigeria Youth Organization Comrade Duke Alamboye has commended the immediate past governor of Rivers state and Minister of Federal Capital Territory Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike on his giant strides on Infrastructure development as then governor of the state.

He made this known on a television live programme "A*o Morning" DSTV Channel 392,
while highlighting the importance of the major flyovers in the state. He pointed out that the flyovers have created good road networks in the ever busy Port Harcourt metropolis, in effect, reduced vehicular congestion.

According to him, the former Rivers state governor for the past years turned the fortunes of the infrastructure sector in the state to enviable heights that can compete with international standards.

UNIBEN STAFF MEMBER COMMITTED SU***DE OVER FINANCIAL CHALLENGES

A member of staff of the University of Benin, Prince Carter Oshodin, has committed su***de on Friday over his dire financial situation.

Oshodin, who had not been paid his salary for months due to the strike action embarked by university unions, was a data entry personnel at the university.

It was gathered that the Non-Academic Staff Union which the deceased belonged to has called off its strike recently, but the members had yet to be paid their salaries. Oshodin’s Facebook confirmed his job description at UNIBEN.

A professor in the University, who would not want his name mentioned due to the emotional nature of the case,stated that it is disheartening that they have not been paid since the strike action began. He also wondered why those who called of their strike are still not been paid by the government.

He said, “Yes he is our staff that killed himself due to lack of money.

Even some months ago, he was quoted to have been advising people on coping strategies and yet he took his life which has put his family in a bigger problem.

“We have been paid no dime since we went on strike. This is the 10th of September, the non academic staff that has since resumed have not been paid anything.

Another colleague simply known as Edward said the Late Oshodin on his page lamented that he could not meet his financial and was finding it increasingly difficult to pay his two daughters’ school fees.

He said, “He committed su***de on Friday and according to a post on his Facebook, he said he was facing financial difficulties and could pay the school fees of his two young daughters. It is a pathetic situation.”

Man arrested for allegedly killing his pregnant wife and creating a fake sucide scene.

The Edo State Police Command has arrested an alleged wife be**er, Vincent Emmanuel, over the death of his 5-months pregnant wife in Benin City, Edo State.

Vincent, and his wife, Cynthia Emmanuel, 31, got married in 2019 and they were expecting their third child before the unfortunate incident occurred.

It was gathered that after allegedly be@ting his wife to death, on Sunday morning, July 17, Vincent tried to stage a fake sucide scene by hanging her with a rope.

He thereafter took photos and videos of her and sent to his mother-in-law.

According to a source, “The suspect was in the habit of physically abusing his wife even when she was pregnant.

He ran away after he sent the photos and videos to his mother-in-law. But he was later tracked down by the police and was taken into custody.

He is believed to have beaten her to death and staged her alleged sucide to evade arrest.”

When will this domestic violence stop!!!

Bandits Attack President Buhari's Convoy In Katsina, Two Injured
….

A group of daredevil gunmen opened fire on President Muhammadu Buhari's advance convoy deployed ahead of his Trip to Daura, Katsina state for Sallah Celebrations on Tuesday.

Reacting to the development in a statement made available to POLITICS NIGERIA, presidential aide, Garba Shehu hailed the Presidential Security Guards for successfully repelling the attack.

"The Presidency has described as sad and unwelcome, the shooting incident near Dutsinma, Katsina State, at the convoy of cars carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah."

"The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy."

"Two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered. All the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura."

BREAKING: Wike Defeats Okowa 16 - 3 To Emerge Atiku’s Running Mate

Rivers State Governor Barr Nyesom Wike has defeated his Delta State Counterpart Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to emerge the running mate to the Presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar .

Sources at the National Headquarters of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) confirmed that the committee set up by the PDP to pick Atiku Abubakar’s running mate picked Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, over Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State

Governor Wike won by a whopping 16-3 votes and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa got only got 3 votes from the committee's votes.

It was gathered that the committee voted against the choice of Governor Okowa following the pressure by his former Political father James Ibori, it was gathered that Ibori mounted a serious opposition and resistance to Atiku picking Okowa because his former political son Okowa hijacked the PDP delta state structure from him.

The Leadership of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is expected to officially announce the choice of the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike any moment.

Committee quizzes Osinbajo, Lawan, Fayemi, others, As Senate President Says He is ready to support Buhari’s consensus candidate.

In a dramatic turn of events, former Imo State governor and presidential aspirant, Senator Rochas Okorocha, last night perfected his bail conditions and made it to the venue of the screening of presidential aspirants, just as the screening exercise formally ended yesterday.

Also, the APC Presidential Screening Committee quizzed and cleared the Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo; President of the Senate, Dr. Ahmed Lawan; Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; a former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabioand the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.

Screened too were the Governor of Cross Rivers State, Professor Ben Ayade; Mr. Tein Jack-Rich, former Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu; former Minister of Information, Chief Ikeobasi Mokelu and a former Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole.

Justice Inyang Ekwo of Federal High Court, Abuja, had admitted Okorocha to bail in the sum N500 million in the alleged N2.9 billion fraud charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Ekwo in a ruling held that the fact and circumstances of the case warranted the court to admit him to bail to adequately prepare for his trial.

The court, however, held that Okorocha must remain in the custody of the anti-graft agency until he met the bail conditions.

Accordingly, personnel of the commission took him into custody just as he stepped out of the courtroom, with fears that he might not make his conditions and as such would be unable to make to the presidential screening of the party, which held at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

Earlier, his media aide, Dr. Ebere Nzewiuji, had told THISDAY, in a telephone chat that his bail condition was being perfected, and that “hopefully” he would make the screening.

Meanwhile, Senator Lawan has said he was ready to support any of the aspirants that the party decides to pick as a consensus candidate.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has rejected the presidential form of the All Progressives Congress purchased for him on Monday by a group of his supporters from the north.

Dr Jonathan’s Media Adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, said in a statement hours after the news that the group had bought the form for him broke that the former did not authorise the purchase and consider the move by the group ‘an insult’.

“We wish to categorically state that Dr Jonathan was not aware of this bid and did not authorise it,” the statement read in part.

“We want to state that if the former President wanted to contest an election, he would make his intentions clear to the public and will not enter through the back door.”

In recent months, there have been increased speculations about whether the former President will run for his old post in in the 2023 general elections and there have been calls for him to do so.

Although he is not a member of the APC, speculations have intensified in recent weeks that he is set to switch from the Peoples Democratic Party to contest for President in 2023.

But the former President has yet to state whether he would contest or not, neither has he spoken about the possibility of switching parties.

“While we appreciate the overwhelming request by a cross-section of Nigerians, for Dr Jonathan to make himself available for the 2023 Presidential election, we wish to state, that he has not in anyway, committed himself to this request,” Eze said.

“Buying a presidential aspiration form in the name Dr Jonathan without his consent, knowing the position he had held in this country, is considered an insult to his person. The general public is therefore advised to disregard it.”

BREAKING: Former Nigeria minister of aviation, labour and employment, dies in Abuja on Monday 😭😭😭😭😭

Alagbo Graham Douglas, a former minister of labour and productivity, is dead.

A close associate, who disclosed this to Daily Trust, said Douglas died in Abuja in the early hours of Monday.

The deceased was a two-time minister and a public relations expert.

A Kalabari High Chief in Rivers where the late minister hailed from, Chief Ngo Martins Yellowe, also confirmed the death of the former minister to our reporter in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital.

Yellowe, a veteran journalist, said the late minister had been sick for some time.

He was the minister of social development and aviation during the Ibrahim Babangida administration and served as minister of culture and tourism, as well as that of labour, employment and productivity under ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Shortly after his 80th birthday in 2019, he granted Daily Trust an interview where he said nobody in his family reached the Octogenarian stage.

“I have passed through the valley of shadow of death. I think I am luckier than most of my brothers because nobody in my family has ever reached the age of 80. 21year Old Nigerian Lady Murdered in a hotel room in Abuja, as the perpetrator is on the Run.

21 year old undergraduate student of Heritage Polytechnic Calabar Esther Isaac lodged in an hotel in Abuja named AGETE HOTEL on the 25th of February, 2022 and never came out alive. After much investigations and questioning, the Hotel management said their CCTV footage was not working the day Esther lodged.

Many questions are left unanswered, Who Killed Esther Isaac?
