UPDATE
Few month ago, I got to reach a family in which all their children are suffering from downs-drome. It is a genetic disorder that make an adult to behave like a child resulting from low chloroma. It is so pathetic that after I had heard their story, the younger brother had always been having s*x with the elder sister and the next brother has also being doing the same to the younger sister of 15 years old
They are siblings of four, there real mother is late but they have a step mother and their father. These four siblings usually be a close person to my mum, but they were isolated in my community because of their aliment. My mum does give them food and some of my sister’s and I cloths that we are not wearing again. Boom my mum told me the main reason why she has always been giving them food and cloths.
After I had asserted some point of story from my mum, I then became friend with the eldest sister, from January 2022 I became someone they find love with. They all work at a saw mill where they pack planks. The money isn’t going directly to them because they all cant recognize money. There biological father collects their monthly salary. This is one of the mental defects of these four siblings.
Fast-forward to March. I visited the family again, that very day I meet the parents at home. I spoke to them in a strategic way in YORUBA the father got mad and was almost crying because he called what his children has been doing with themselves has an abomination. I explained to the parent that it is not their fault, I spoke to them for about 30 minutes we arrived at a conclusion of separating the brothers away from the sisters. The father said ‘I had always been thinking of this but I thank God you have come has an angel to quicken this situation. He said early 2021 the elder sister got pregnant but she did not know who impregnated her it has been happening several times that we had aborted for her three times, currently we have done family planning for her because I can’t bear the shame, but I am so bitterer to have gotten to know this” the father said. I sympathized with them has we talked on the way forward. Both brothers were sent to leave with there father’s younger sister at a very far sister with an undisclosed location
Last week Sunday the father gave me a call to check on my friends, the father said the brothers came around on Saturday for a close family burial. On my coming from church my sister and I went to their house. We sang, chatted and played with them. They were very happy. The younger sister in tears ask my younger sister for what exactly had they done to deserve isolation? When we got to their community on Sunday, I heard people calling them fool set of beings, idiots and whole sort of bad names. I encouraged them, the worst that could happen to a man is death, they recognized themselves they also know that they are not in their right senses but they just don’t understand. This is a whole lot of burden and societal segregation for this sibling.
Stop segregating children and people living with disability in one way or the other show them love and let them feel belong they are human beings just like you
