A fool is known by his speech...and the wise man by Silence
The above statement was made by Pythagoras.
You remember Pythagoras??
The guy that figured out how to calculate and measure triangular objects.
Anyway, not only was he a genius mathematician, he was also a brilliant philosopher.
And by that I mean he knew how to make sense of the abnormalities of life and understand it's true essence.
So when he said that...it was a time when people were sceptical about new knowledge.
If someone made a claim, people who believed in the status quo would run the person down with criticism.
Very similar to what happens now.
Only then, people could actually pick up stones and throw them at you.
Anyway, were not here to talk about Pythagoras' woes.
Insead, I want to draw you to what I spoke about a while back.
Silence and Speech.
A foolish person is known when he speaks.
But the wise are known by their Silence.
This has Two meanings.
1. It is by the words someone says that would tell you if such a person is wise or foolish.
While wise people speak with caution...and their words seasoned with salt (as the Bible recommends)
The foolish unleash their stupiditywith their tongue.
Have you ever just listened to the things someone said and you wonder how a grown human could be this insane??
Yes.
That's it. The words someone says would tell you if the person is wise, or just plain old stupid.
2. The Wise are known by their Silence...in the sense that Wise people know exactly when to keep their mouth shut.
They know when Speech is necessary and when it's not.
And they act accordingly.
The fools on the other hand speak whenever they like.
They cannot "read the room" to know when Speech is important and when Silence is required.
This is why their mouths land them in deeper s**t than they can get out of.
A sad thing...
Can one say they had it coming??
I can't tell for now.
But here's today's Caveat.
You can't go wrong with Silence.
