MultiChoice Nigeria has announced a 17% increase in the prices of its DStv and GOtv bundles, effective from May 1, 2023. The pay-TV company cited rising business costs as the reason for the price hike. In a text message sent to customers, MultiChoice Nigeria explained that subscribers who renew their subscription before April 30 will be able to keep their current rates for up to 12 months.

The new pricing will affect all subscription packages, with increases ranging from 15-17%. The company has also offered a price lock offer to subscribers who renew their subscriptions before their due dates, allowing them to pay the old rates for 12 months.

“Please note that from May 1, your monthly subscription (premium) will be N24,500. To retain your old price of N21,000 for up to 12 months ensure you are active by April 30,” the text message reads.

FG MAKES ARRANGEMENT FOR EVACUATION OF NIGERIANS FROM SUDAN, GIVES N150 MILLION, BUSES

The Nigerian government has made arrangements to evacuate approximately 5,500 Nigerians, including students, who are stranded in Khartoum and other towns in Sudan, beginning on Wednesday. The government has allocated N150 million to hire 40 buses to transport its citizens from Sudan to Cairo, Egypt. The evacuation is taking place amidst a three-day ceasefire, which began at midnight on Tuesday, between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Force. The conflict between the two forces has claimed approximately 500 lives and has displaced millions of people. The federal government had planned the repatriation of Nigerian nationals on Tuesday but had to postpone it until Wednesday due to security concerns. The government has sought the assistance of Egyptian authorities to transport the stranded Nigerians out of Sudan through Luxor, Egypt. The National Association of Nigerian Students attempted to arrange transportation for some students through Ethiopia, but they were denied access by Ethiopian authorities. The Nigerian government has warned against self-evacuation, which could be risky.

R KELLY TO SERVE JAIL-TERM IN NORTH CAROLINA PRISON

Multi-talented RnB singer, Robert Kelly, popularly known as R. Kelly has been moved to North Carolina Correctional Centre in the United States where he would serve his 30-year jail term.

Apart from his 30 years sentence, the singer was sentenced to one additional year for multiple charges bordering on sexual offenses.

In September 2022, a federal jury in Chicago convicted the singer of six-count charges of sexual abuse against three women who testified on video.
