RENO OMOKRI PRAISES TINUBU UNTO THE DECREASE OF PRICES OF FOODSTUFFS AND CEMENTS AFTER BOARDER REOPENING.

Reno Omokri, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is full of praises for President Bola Tinubu, who on Wednesday directed that Nigeria’s land and air borders with the Republic of Niger be opened.

The Federal Government also restored the supply of electricity to the Niger, which was halted as a result of the sanctions against the neighbouring country by the Economic Community of West African States.

Reacting to the new development, Reno observed that within 48 hours, the prices of cement crashed.

He noted that the price of rice was reduced marginally in border areas and Indomie Noodles is now slightly more affordable.

In his words: “Reopening the border was a genius move on the part of President Tinubu. He opened the border, and within 48 hours, the cement price crashed. Rice was reduced marginally in border areas.

“And Indomie Noodles is now slightly more affordable. Undoing the damage wreaked on our economy will take time. But With steps like the border reopening, it is possible.”

Recall that earlier in August last year, ECOWAS, led by Tinubu, imposed sanctions on Niger following a coup that toppled the country’s President-elect, Mohamed Bazoum, in July 2023. Officers of the Niger Presidential Guard had on July 26, 2023, arrested Bazoum and declared him deposed.

In their reactions, ECOWAS leaders demanded the full restoration of constitutional order in Niger and declared Bazoum’s arrest and detention illegal.

In addition to a one-week ultimatum to restore constitutional order and the suspension of financial transactions, ECOWAS directed the freezing of “all service transactions, including energy transactions” with Niger.

Impeccable sources in Nigeria’s power sector last year confirmed the cutting of electricity to Niger, which was also reported by the AFP.

The international medium quoted a source close to the management of the Nigerien Electricity Company, popularly known as Nigelec, adding that the move was in line with the sanctions decided by ECOWAS.

NOTHING WILL MAKE ME STAY AS BARCELONA FC MANAGER - XAVI REVEALS.

Barcelona manager, Xavi, has insisted that he is leaving the club at the end of the season.

Xavi said that nothing would stop him from leaving Camp Nou, not even a Champions League success.

Barcelona beat Napoli 4-2 on aggregate to book their place in the last eight of the Champions League on Tuesday.

The victory put the Catalans as contenders for the title this season and Xavi was asked after the game if a Champions League trophy could make him change his mind.

“You keep on asking me if I will stay if we win the Champions League… no, I will not,” he told reporters.

“My future will not change. My response will not change.

“I will leave at the end of the season.

“I will enjoy the Champions League next season, yes, but as a fan.”

WHAT IT MEANS WHEN SOMEONE LEFT YOU WITH HND RESULT AND STILL MEET YOU WITH IT AFTER YEARS - APOSTLE SULEIMAN.

In recent video on Facebook, renowned Nigerian cleric, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has delivered a powerful message urging individuals to strive for personal growth and advancement in the face of challenges. In a recent statement, Apostle Suleman emphasized the importance of utilizing and expanding one's achievements, rather than stagnating in complacency.

Drawing upon the analogy of academic qualifications, Apostle Suleman highlighted the significance of progression and development in one's professional journey. He noted that if someone left an individual when they held a National Diploma (ND) qualification, and upon reuniting after five years, found them still at the same level, it would indicate a lack of personal growth.

According to him, "When somebody left you when you had ND(National Diploma) and in five years time he/she meets you with the same results, it means something is wrong with you. If somebody left you as a HND holder and he comes back to meet you with the same results, it means something is wrong with you. On this note, utilize and expand your achievement. Aspire for more."

MY DAD LOVES SHOES, WRISTWATCHES A LOT, HE ALSO LOVES WOMEN — DELE ODULE’S SON REVEALS.

Odubayo is one of the sons of Nollywood actor and producer, Dele Odule. He talks about his father’s life off the klieg lights with MOTUNRAYO JOEL

I was born in Abeokuta. I’m a native of Oru-Ijebu in Ogun State. I had my primary education at Ore-Ofe Oluwa Nursery and Primary School in Ibadan, Oyo State. I then proceeded to Kings and Queens College, Ibadan, where I had my junior secondary education. I spent some years there before moving to Mayflower School, Ikenne, Ogun State, for my senior secondary education. I am a graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, where I studied Geography.

How many children does your father have?

He has nine children – five boys and four girls. I’m the second child.

How was it growing up with him?

Most people think that actors don’t have time for their family, but it is the opposite in my father’s case. Whenever he returns from work, he gives full attention to his family. He loves to play with us. Growing up, I remember how he would engage us in educative question and answer sessions, where there would be a prize for anyone who answered his questions correctly. He is quite passionate about education. He doesn’t take it lightly whenever anyone gets bad grades lightly. He appreciates good academic performance. He is also a disciplinarian and that makes us to always be of good behaviour.

Would you say his name opens doors for you?

The name Odule is one that I’m very proud of. I cannot mention all the opportunities I have enjoyed because I bear the name Odule. I see the way people react whenever I tell them that I am his son. I am proud to say that my father is well respected in society.

Describe his personality at home?

At home, my father is a regular man. He gladly helps with house chores. He loves to play ‘ayo’; he is good at playing the game. He is also a very good cook. You would sometimes find him in the kitchen teaching the female children how to prepare his favourite soup when my mother is not at home. At night, he watches news and later attends to his messages.

Why did he embrace acting?

I think it had always been his passion right from childhood. He was orphaned at a young age and had to fend for himself, thus getting education was difficult. He resorted to using his creative talent to make a living. I describe him as a natural entertainer.

Which of his children is showing interest in acting?

My father is not quiet keen on having any of his children follow in his career footsteps. He doesn’t really encourage any of us on that. But I think it runs in the family. My younger brother is into music. He has recorded about four tracks now. He is currently in the university and cannot really face it fully. I also starred in a few children movies when I was a kid.

Which of your dad’s movies is your favourite?

There are a lot of his movies that I love. He is one of the best actors that I have seen on screen and it isn’t because he is my father. I think my favourite of his movies is Alani Fere Bi Ekun.

What role will he never act in a movie?

There’s no character he can’t act in a movie. He would do justice to any role. However, he can’t play God in a movie; that is the only role he won’t accept.

What would he have been if he weren’t an actor?

If my father weren’t an actor, he would have been a lecturer. He still talks about lecturing someday. He is passionate about education. I’m certain that if he had gotten an opportunity to go to school at a young age, he probably would have become a professor by now. He has many friends and associates who are academics.

Many believe he is a funny man. Does he crack jokes at home?

There is no dull moment with dad, especially when he is in a jolly mood. He has a good sense of humour. His nature in movies is literally how he behaves at home. It is a way of life for him. He doesn’t need much effort to make people laugh. His expression to a question would make you laugh. He loves to crack jokes in Ijebu dialect. He is good at mimicking almost anybody and he does it in a very funny manner.

How does he relax?

He loves to have a good sleep. Sometimes, he could sleep for hours. He doesn’t spend too much time in front of the TV.

What is the most important advice he has given you?

He always says I should keep on striving and pushing further no matter what life throws at me. He says that it is those that keep on moving that win at the end.

How does he discipline any of his children who act up?

Dad is strict; he beats us whenever we err. He flogs us with a belt.

What values have you imbibed from him?

Determination is foremost of all the values that I have learnt and imbibed from my dad. He has proven to me countless times how determined he can be. Whatever he sets his mind to do, he achieves it. He makes me proud of him. Another value I have imbibed is integrity. Dad has taught me that a good name is better than riches. He is conscious of the name he has built for himself and doesn’t get involved in what can tarnish it.

What sport does he enjoy?

Dad doesn’t have a favourite sport. Although when he was young, he played volleyball and football. He once represented Ogun State while playing volleyball. He is still agile. This is because he relaxes and maintains a healthy lifestyle.

Did he influence his children’s career choices?

No. He has never influenced any of his children’s career choices. Instead, he encourages and supports us to pursue our passion.

What are his likes and dislikes?

Dad likes it when a child excels in school. He also appreciates honesty. He celebrates anyone who is hard-working. He has a flair for arts. Dad detests laziness, indiscipline and dishonesty.

What are his hobbies?

He likes to read. He has a collection of books. He also loves to entertain. That is his hobby. Apart from being a good actor, he is also a good singer. He listens to evergreen songs of Ebenezer Obey, Orlando Owoh, Kayode Fasola, Pope Dipo Sodipo and Hubert Ogunde.

When did he experience his saddest moment?

That would be in 2004 when he lost his first child, my elder brother. It was a great loss to everybody. The child resembled him a lot.

Does he enjoy watching his own movies?

Dad does not really watch movies. He doesn’t even watch TV that much. He prefers to watch news channels. When you try to get him to watch a movie, even the ones he starred in, 30 minutes into the movie, he is already engaged in something else.

What would he love to change about his looks?

I doubt he would want to change anything about his looks.

What does he spends money on?

He splurges money on artworks. He loves artworks a lot and spends money on them. He has a collection of artworks.

‘GOD AMONG MORTALS’, FANS REACT TO JACKIE CHAN’S RECENT PHOTO.

Time spares no one, not even the popular film legend and Hong Kong action star, Jackie Chan.
That seemed to be the takeaway for many fans after photos surfaced of the martial artist, who turns 70 years old on April 7, 1954, sporting a head of white hair and white facial hair.

Not much is known about the event where he spoke; other than that, it took place “recently” in Sichuan, China.

The unforgettable, adoring childhood memories of Jackie Chan have triggered fans all over the world.

Nema Zime described the comic stuntman as “God amongst the mortal men. Jackie Chan is not just a great actor, but an awesome human being.”

“Happy 70th birthday to the legendary Jackie Chan! Thank you for filling our childhoods with unforgettable memories and inspiring us with your incredible talent and charisma. Your contributions to the world of cinema have left an indelible mark, and we are grateful for the joy and excitement you’ve brought to countless fans around the globe. Wishing you continued health, happiness, and success in the years ahead,” Zakii Afridi hailed the singer.

“This man should live forever,” a Greek girl cried.

“How does he wake up every morning with such a body? I mean, I have a pair of old injuries, and some days are challenging, but this guy has broken every single bone and sustained several spinal injuries, from top to bottom.” Explorer was worried about the martial artist’s wellness.

“A true legend in the martial arts, comedy, and action movie worlds. No matter the decade, his movie is timeless,” Coin Xander said.

Muhmmad Azhar wrote, “Age is but a number, merely a reflection of the passage of time. Jackie Chan‘s enduring brilliance knows no bounds, transcending the confines of mere years.”

Happiest Birthday to you Sir from TNNews.

I RECEIVED UPTO #1 BILLION FROM THE 2024 BUDGET FOR MY CONSTITUENCY PROJECT - SENATOR NED NWOKO SAYS.

Senator Ned Nwoko, a representative of the Delta North District in the National Assembly has confirmed that he received up to a billion naira from the 2024 budget for his constituency project. The senator made this disclosure during an interview with Seun Okinbaloye.

The senator initially confirmed that he got more than N200million for his constituency project. However, he was asked again if he got up to a billion naira. The Senator responded affirmatively as he said, "of course".

The interviewer asked, "did you get as much as some of the leaders, N500million?" The Senator said, "of course, yes". He was asked again, "so you got up to a billion". Again, he said, "of course".

The Senator said the senators got what they lobbied for. This corresponds with the claim of the Senate Chief Whip, Ali Ndume who stated that each senator received nothing less than N200million for constituency project from the 2024 project. He also stated that all the Senate leaders, including himself, got more than the N200million.

When asked whether he thinks Senator Ningi deserves what he got, the Senator said, "it was more or less a Northern Senator issue. It is just the system"

THE RATE AT WHICH WE ARE DOING PARTIES, WHY NOT WE USE IT TO HELP OUR NEIGHBORS. - SAYS BY NIGERIAN FIRST LADY.

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu speaking about the challenges facing Nigerians at the moment has advocated for a shift in focus from extravagant parties to helping one another. She conveyed that the resources spent on lavish events could be better utilized to assist neighbors in need.

She criticized the trend of Nigerians contemplating relocating abroad without a clear plan for employment, pointing out that similar opportunities for work exist in Nigeria where they can remain with their loved ones. She questioned the discrepancy between individuals with higher education levels driving taxis abroad but being unwilling to do so in their home country.

She said in an interview with Arise TV, ''We believe these are times that will pass but at the same time, Nigerians can help each other. The rate at which we are doing parties, why don't you use the money to help your neighbor?

I believe in Social development and Social investment for people who truly need it. And in the Bible, they talked about it during the time of Jesus. He said the poor will always have in the land.

So the people whom God has blessed should help the poor. And again, you don't even know those who are poor. If you don't ride a car, they will say they are poor. If you don't have your own home, they will say they are poor.

Even all those people saying they are going to Japa. If you go there what work are you going to do? It's the same work that you are supposed to do at home where you have loved ones and you end up going to do that. Even with all their education, they are driving cabs. But they won't do drive cabs here.''

POPULAR FUNNY PASTOR, ODUMEJE WARNS CRITICS BY SAYING 'HE IS NOT A FAKE MAN OF GOD’

Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, the Onitsha-based cleric renowned for his unconventional style, has issued a stern warning to his critics in a viral video circulating on social media.

In the video, Odumeje vehemently refuted allegations that he utilizes fake powers, asserting his identity as a genuine man of God and not a counterfeit prophet.

He cautioned detractors against spreading falsehood about him, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to Jesus Christ.

“I am not a fake man of God. I do not have anything to do with fake power; only Jesus I call. Only Jesus appears to me. I have never gone to any place to seek power or any native doctor. It is all about Jesus,” he affirmed.

Addressing those who disparage his unconventional methods of teaching, Odumeje urged them to desist from such actions, warning of dire consequences for those who attempt to undermine his ministry.

“A lot of charms I have collected from people that I have destroyed. It is all about Jesus. I am radical. I am a prophet,” he declared emphatically.

“Go to the Bible and check Elisha. If you do not know about the word of God; about the prophet. I am not the man you preach about on the altar and go free. I am very dangerous.

“The way I cure those deaf and dumb remove cancer, I can invest it in you. Preach about Jesus. That is the only mission you come here to preach… do not criticise the miracles that Jesus is using me to do because you want to get attention from people. You can never go free. Because when you are saying it people will be placing satan more than Christ. You are misleading people."

The cleric’s impassioned remarks were triggered by comments from gospel singer Dunsin Oyekan, who expressed concern over the phrase ‘abido shaker,’ popularized by Odumeje.

15/03/2024

Judge Aileen M. Cannon, appointed by then-President Donald Trump, said she would not dismiss the charges against him regarding the mishandling of classified documents in a Florida court on Thursday, March 14.

Trump's lawyers had argued that the Espionage Act was too vaguely applied to a former president and clashed with the broader Presidential Records Act.

Cannon found it premature to dismiss the charges based on these arguments but indicated Trump could present his claim at trial.

This decision unfolds as Trump faces one of four criminal trials, asserting challenges to the legal definitions within the Espionage Act and arguing for political bias in the prosecution, especially in light of similar cases involving other officials that did not lead to charges.

The judge also looked at the implications of the Presidential Records Act, questioning the defense's claim that Trump could unilaterally decide that classified documents are personal property.

ABDUCTED KADUNA STUDENT NARRATES ESCAPE FROM CAPTIVITY.

One of the students abducted by bandits in Kaduna State, Mustapha Abubakar, has narrated how he escaped from captivity.

Recall that last week Thursday, bandits invaded a primary and secondary school in Kuriga community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna and abducted 287 school children, teachers inclusive.

Abubakar, in a chat with British Broadcasting Corporation Hausa, on Monday, said the abductors treated them like cows.

According to him, they were made to walk for a long distance till they got exhausted.

“We were all thirsty; some of us were exhausted and even started falling. The bandits carried those that fell on their motorcycles,” he said.

He furthered that said they later arrived at a place where there was a river of which they drank water and continued walking.

A plane, he said, was surveilling the area, adding that the bandits instructed them to lie on the ground.

“The bandits instructed us that whoever has two shirts should remove one and lie on the ground.

“Even the bandits too were tired. They did not have food with them. They were just plucking fruits from trees. They did not give us anything to eat.

“While we were walking, I saw a bushy place which had a similar colour to my trouser and quickly hid there. I started to move in there like a snake.

“I spent some hours there waiting for the bandits to leave the area before I came out and started running.”

Abubakar narrated he met an old man who was walking very slowly and asked him where the nearest village or road was.

The student narrated that he kept running, even though he was feeling dizzy, he did not stop until he luckily found himself in a community called Gayan.

“I had a marathon race. I was exhausted, but I pushed on, as evening time was approaching. I later arrived at Gayan, a community near us, and that was how I eventually escaped,” he said.

It was reported that the kidnapped children, both males and females, were between the ages of 5 and 18.

Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna, has assured that all the abducted school children and teachers will be rescued.

FATHER OF 20 SAYS WIFE MUST HAVE 22 KIDS BEFORE STOPPING.

A TBT clip of a Kakamega man, Antony Wekesa, demanding 22 kids from a 30-year-old wife, Gentrix Wekesa, has gone viral.

Gentrix, the wife, lamented in an interview with TV 47, disclosing that she was three months pregnant and was the sole breadwinner of the family.

The 30-year-old woman was expecting her 11th child with her husband, Antony, who was already a father of 20.

“Right now, I’m three months pregnant, and my lastborn child is only one year old. One of my kids dropped out of school when he was in class seven. They used to send him home for school fees and his uniform, and we got tired. I did not know what to do. My secondborn became a herdsman. Other times when they pay him, he gives me the cash, and I feel nice.”

Jentrix’s husband noted that he did not want her to opt for modern family planning methods.

“I have 20 kids. We don’t want our wives to plan for kids. We want them to add more kids. When you don’t have kids, they laught at it. As long as she gets to the number I want, 22.”

The 30-year-old recalled a time when she went for modern family planning, and her husband made sure he took her to the hospital to get it out.

“I just decided to then give birth the way he wants. He says that as longs as the kids turn out differently it would be good. One can become a teacher, another a robber that is their thinking.”

The woman said she hoped that one day she could be free from the shackles of giving birth. The video has gone viral on TikTok and the X app, formerly known as Twitter.

WHY LANDLORDS KEEP REJECTING ME DESPITE MY ABILITY TO PAY RENT, FORCING ME TO LIVE IN MY CAR?

A couple has been living out of their car in Denver struggling to get a roof over their heads due to a past eviction.

After being evicted in 2022, Leticia Dela Rose, her husband, and their dog, Cash, have been living out of their car in Denver, Colorado.

“This is the first time for me to be in this situation,” Dela Rosa told local Fox affiliate KDVR.

“It’s just been so hard. I’ve made mistakes in my past, which I don’t feel like it should be held over my head, especially because I’m getting assistance. You’re going to be guaranteed rent every month, and they don’t look at that part of it.”

Dela Rosa had to take a leave of absence from work due to her mental health, according to her GoFundMe.

She also wrote that she had been approved for a housing choice voucher which makes her eligible for Section 8 rental assistance.

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless has been trying to help, but the couple is still having trouble when filling out rental applications due to their past eviction.

“We get down to the question, ‘Have you ever been evicted from a place within the last seven years?’ And unfortunately, the answer is ‘Yes,'” Dela Rosa said.

“Some of the applications don’t even let you proceed after that.”

With the same issues arising with their application, Dela Rosa is losing hope.

“I hope it doesn’t last too much longer, but I’m losing hope,” she said.

“I’m just hoping someone gives me a chance to have a place to call home.”

There is a looming storm approaching Denver and Dela Rosa said it was a “new fear.”

“I’m starting to lose hope and a new fear has entered me as we are supposed to be receiving a foot of snow in two days, she wrote on her GoFundMe.

“Although I do have a vehicle for shelter my heater recently went out so staying warm is going to be a struggle for me my husband, my dog Cash, and I.”

In 2023, 12,910 households faced eviction in Denver, according to data from Denver County reported by NBC affiliate KUSA.

The city has set aside $29.1 million to help people pay rent in 2024, but some are concerned that still won’t be enough.
