REJOINDER TO THE FALSE IMPRESSION WRITTEN BY PROF. SALISU SHEHU.
Though this might come a little bit late, but I became tensely disturbed by my inner self to reply your purported lies which only tried to create wrong impression on the good image of Rt. Hon. Dr. Barr. YAKUBU DOGARA and the entire people of za'ar land in the hearts of the good people of Nigeria.
With regards to the timely response and replies written by my elderly kinsmen I need not to write this piece again because they have done more than I can do. But we wrote differently to show the world that you only wrote a political propaganda that was filled with religious bigotry and lack of tolerance to other christian religion.
The first paragraph of your write up only exposes how envious you are of Dogara, your likes in Bauchi state are the ones saying nothing would come out of the sayawa heritage. But as God would made it, our son(Dogara) rose to become the number 4 citizen of this country in your dare eyes. Some of your likes tried to hinder the process but God was over everything. Mr. Professor, please do not envy the people surviving under the overdose grace of God. Now that you are aware The speaker of the 8th house of representatives would definitely be the running mate of Asiwaju you are ranting everywhere on social media rendering false accusations that you thought might destroy his image. If God is for us you can never change the narratives.
You even came up with "watery issues" (as my uncle Godiya Bulus said) as your reasons why ASIWAJU and the APC should not pick DOGARA as the vice presidential candidate. Your reasons are indications that you know nothing about the affairs of TAFAWA BALEWA.
1. On your first reason you said "Dogara has never convened any sort of peace-making or reconciliatory meeting between Muslims and Christians". This particular statement exposed you as a fanatic who never see any good done by his opponent. As a learned person, not just being learned but a professor which is the highest rank in the educational system, you made conclusions without consultations. Very bad. I am not surprised though that you don't know the peace and reconciliation committee inaugurated and sponsored by DOGARA, which consist of the Fulanis, Jarawas and the sayawas, because only a peace loving person would know and appreciate it. Efforts made by this committee brought the existing peace we are enjoying in Tafawa Balewa town presently. It is only someone with hidden agenda will not appreciate the efforts made by DOGARA in regards to restoring lasting peace in his constituency.
2. On your second reason, you blamed Dogara's tribesmen for the eruption of crisis in Tafawa Balewa town which happened 11years ago. I want to tell the world your submission lacks fair judgement because you hear only one side of the story. In your capacity, if you were a peace loving learned elite, you would have set a committee to make research in the causes of the said crisis and suggest a lasting solutions to peace and unity in Tafawa Balewa town. You were not in Tafawa Balewa when it all started, our homes set ablaze, shops razed with and three of our brothers killed but we didn't retaliate. Untill the only thing we need to survived was to defend ourselves. After that we had series of attacks, people coming with guns to kill and chase us away but YAWEH fought our battles. That's not even my point, but the christians and muslims of our locality are presently living in peace.
3. On your number 4 reason which is supposed to be 3, you cried that DOGARA has renovated mosques and churches but couldn't offer to rebuild the fallen mosques in Tafawa Balewa town. I want to categorically tell you that I don't know a church that Dogara renovated, but I know of several mosques that he renovated. On the issues of resettling the Muslims in Tafawa Balewa town, remember there are christian communities that were destroyed and the people displaced e.g Gumel, pyakman, yalwan sayawa, Arewa etc. And nobody has visited, no body has tried any process of resettling them. Churches are still down on those areas.
Mr. Professor sir, I know you can't recall when last you visited Tafawa Balewa town, but I assure you that there are many Muslims living here in Tafawa Balewa town, having a peaceful time and doing their businesses without being harassed. I have many Muslim friends that visit me time to time and I am sure they can testify that Tafawa Balewa is peaceful presently with many Muslims living here and doing their activities peacefully. Dogara tried his best in representing us without religious bias and have tried to carry us all along in sharing the dividends of democracy.
Finally, I want the good people of TAFAWA BALEWA (both Muslims and Christians) to please do away with the submissions made by Prof. Salisu Shehu, because it would end up destroying the relative peace we are presently enjoying. Any thing capable of causing disunity amongst us we shouldn't accept it. It is better to let the sleeping dog lies, because touching areas like this may refresh our wounds which we have forgiven each other and have forgotten and move on. I stand corrected in any area I am wrong and wish to quickly apologize when there's need. Thanks.
