2022 Budget: House Committee lauds NPA Acting Managing Director
The House of Representatives committee on Ports and Harbours on Friday applauded the delegation of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) at the committee's budget defence session.
It would be recalled that the two Chambers of the National Assembly suspended plenary to enhance the defence of the 2022 budget by ministries, parastatals and agencies.
The suspension of plenary followed the presentation of the 2022 budget proposals on 7th October by President Muhammadu Buhari at the joint session of the National Assembly.
Indeed, Buhari proposed a total expenditure for 2022 at N16.39 trillion with a crude oil benchmark price of $57 per barrel and daily oil production estimate of 1.88 million barrels (inclusive of condensates of 300,000 to 400,000 barrels per day).
The exchange rate was projected at N410.15 per dollar and projected GDP growth rate of 4.2 per cent with 13 per cent inflation rate.
However, at the presentation of the NPA, the Committee overwhelmingly commended the Acting Managing Director, Bello Koko while reviewing the performance of the 2021 budget and the 2022 proposals of the Ports Authority.
Earlier, Chairman of the Committee, Garba Datti-Babawo, representing Sabon Gari federal constituency of Kaduna state had enjoined the Managing Director of the Ports Authority to give appraisal of this year's budget and proceed to present 2022 estimates.
Datti-Babawo also urged Committee members to make clarification from Koko where necessary, but the committee however adopted the budget with applause at the end and expressed satisfaction.
