PDP YOUTH COUNCIL IDENTIFIES WITH MEMBERS ON THE INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY CELEBRATION

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP Youth Council Benue State has overwhelmingly celebrates with its members from the Peoples Democratic Party on International Youth day celebration.

The council noted how significant the day portrait to the youths across the globe most especially our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The annual celebration August 12, 2022, is a very important date in the global calendar.

This day is set aside globally to celebrate this year’s International Youth Day. The significant purpose of this annual celebration day going by the information from the United Nation is to, but not limited amongst other things, join voices against any unfair treatment or discrimination perpetrating in the world against the youth.

Going by the the data recorded, International Youth Day was consciously recognised by the UN when they approved and passed a resolution on creation of the day in 1999 at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.

There is pertinent need for the day been that a large chunk of youth globally are battling with various issues related to physical or mental health, education and employment and socio-economic welfare, these issues needs to be addressed.

At the time government or society does not focus on addressing proper development of the youth, they tend to become rebellious and opt for choices which are neither good for their development nor for their country.

Happy International Youth Day Celebration from PDP Youth Council.

PDP conducted primaries before the original deadline.

PDP has a vice presidential candidate. Nothing like placeholder.

Ethnic and religious balancing considered.

PDP candidates have certificates to prove they have an education.

PDP is the only party whose presidential candidate has a CLEAR PLAN that we can interrogate today!

PDP's candidate is the only candidate discussing solutions.

We already know what the problems are. We have know them since 1999. It is solutions that are missing.

The "how to fix it" is what many have failed to discuss in the past and we wonder why they get into office amd perform abysmally.

Only one team has demonstrated they are ready to serve and lead Nigeria.

2023: 70years Old Ogbonnaya Onu Reported To Be Buhari's Anointed Candidate

The Minister of Science and Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, may be President Muhammadu Buhari’s favourite candidate to carry the flag of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in the 2023 presidential election.

Although there were speculations yesterday that the screening of the party’s presidential aspirants earlier scheduled for May 23 may have been postponed to accommodate former President Goodluck Jonathan who is suspected to have submitted his nomination form through the backdoor, insiders suggested a completely different track in confidential discussions with LEADERSHIP last night.

“The press may have got the whole speculation about Jonathan wrong,” one of the sources with deep connections to the party and the Presidency said. “The real dark horse, the man to watch, is Ogbonnaya Onu.”

The source continued: “It’s because the scales are tipping in Onu’s favour that President Buhari has delayed the signing of the amendment to the Electoral Act, that may have permitted political appointees to be voting delegates at the primaries.”

In Nigeria, state governors fund the parties and wield significant control over delegates at election time. Keeping political appointees out of the equation increases governors’ control. At the same time, however, it makes is easier for the President, who still exercises considerable power of patronage, to whip them in line.

Onu is not the only candidate that could potentially benefit from the exclusion of political appointees in a field that boasts over 25 APC aspirants who have submitted nomination forms, but who mostly have weak party structures. The source said, however, that “Onu carries additional appeal and advantage.”

At 70, age is not one of those advantages in country where there appears to be an increasing demand for youth and energy.

“That is true”, another well-connected source said last night. “But Buhari is looking for something more than age. He is desperate to redeem his legacy, especially in the wake of the raft of crises facing the country. You know the role of Buhari, his sacrifice and that of the Nigerian Army during the civil war.

“Rooting for Onu would be a masterstroke for the country’s unity at this time. It would repair Buhari’s damaged legacy, especially the accusations of nepotism against him. And increasingly, the thinking inside the Villa is that it is both fair and right to look to the South East.”

The source added that Onu, an engineer with a PhD in Chemical Engineering, has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Buhari dating to their days, first in the All Nigerian Progressives Party (ANPP), under whose flag Buhari contested the 2003 election.

Buhari's Tenure Should Be Extended By 6months - Robert Clarke (SAN)

Elder statesman, Chief Robert Clarke, has called for the extension of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who said this on Monday, argued that the months preceding the 2023 elections are not sufficient to put an end to the insecurity, making the conduct of election possible.

Speaking when he featured on ARISE Television, Clarke maintained that the Constitution provides that the President can extend his tenure for six months, in the first instance, if he feels that conditions are not good to carry out elections.

He averred that it was wrong to believe that the President cannot stay in office for more than eight years of two tenures.

Clarke said the President can continue to give himself fresh six months extension a time elections could be held.

Jonathan Rejects APC Presidential Form Purchased By Miyetti Allah, Says Is An Insult

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has rejected the presidential form of the All Progressives Congress purchased for him on Monday by a group of his supporters from the north.

Dr Jonathan’s Media Adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, said in a statement hours after the news that the group had bought the form for him broke that the former did not authorise the purchase and consider the move by the group ‘an insult’.

“We wish to categorically state that Dr Jonathan was not aware of this bid and did not authorise it,” the statement read in part.

“We want to state that if the former President wanted to contest an election, he would make his intentions clear to the public and will not enter through the back door.”

In recent months, there have been increased speculations about whether the former President will run for his old post in in the 2023 general elections and there have been calls for him to do so.

Although he is not a member of the APC, speculations have intensified in recent weeks that he is set to switch from the Peoples Democratic Party to contest for President in 2023.

But the former President has yet to state whether he would contest or not, neither has he spoken about the possibility of switching parties.

“While we appreciate the overwhelming request by a cross-section of Nigerians, for Dr Jonathan to make himself available for the 2023 Presidential election, we wish to state, that he has not in anyway, committed himself to this request,” Eze said.

“Buying a presidential aspiration form in the name Dr Jonathan without his consent, knowing the position he had held in this country, is considered an insult to his person. The general public is therefore advised to disregard it.”

2023: Court Rejects CBN Governor Emefiele's Application To Contest Without Resigning

A Federal High Court in Abuja has refused the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele’s request to restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami preventing him from his Presidential Ambition.

The CBN Governor on Monday told the Court in Abuja that he can run for the post of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria without vacating his position as the CBN Governor.

The CBN Governor through his Counsel, Mike Ozekhome, told the court that Section 84 ((12) of the Electoral Act as amended, 2022 does not affect him, being a public servant and not a political appointee.

The court in its ruling, however, summoned INEC, and AGF to appear before it on May 12, to show cause on why status quo antebellum, should not be granted to the CBN Governor.

2023: My Mission Is To Change Nigeria To Wealthy Nation - Peter Obi

A presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr Peter Obi, has lamented that Nigeria is going through the worst debt crisis ever in its political history and requires wealth creators to salvage the situation.

According to him, the country’s debt profile has risen from N3tn during former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration to N58tn during the present regime.

The former governor of Anambra State, who stated this on Monday while consulting with the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the PDP, said his mission to become president was to change the country from being a consuming nation to a wealth creator.

Obi stated, “Nigeria is in a debt crisis, when you use over 90 per cent of your revenue to service debt, you are in a major crisis. We are in a monumental crisis and that situation has continued, and we are borrowing more money, they will tell you that they borrow for capital projects.

“I have been going around asking people to show me the capital projects. When Obasanjo came into power, our debt was N3.5tn and about $28bn and when he left govt in 2007, he brought it down after the debt cancellation but today our debt is N58tn and nobody can tell you this is what it is.

“When you ask, they will say it’s used for capital vote. No capital vote is more important than power. We have borrowed over $100bn within this period and we are still at 4,000MW.

Some Soldiers Are Working For Boko Haram - Defence Chief

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Leo Irabor has condemned the increase in cases of military personnel aiding and abetting terrorists and bandits in the country.

“Recent happenings in various TOOs reveal an increase in cases of aiding and abetting by personnel. This development was revealed in different reports of arrests of military personnel within a short period of time,” the letter signed on behalf of the CDS by one CE Oji read.

“It would be recalled that a soldier was arrested by a covert intelligence Team for conniving with a confirmed terrorist informant known as Babagana Kura in Bama LGA, Borno State.

“The arrests of these personnel are indicative of inside action that has continued to aid the adversary, pertinently with immediate or potential impact on operations.”

Recently, Lance Corporal Abdullahi Jibrin, an instructor with the Nigerian Army battalion in Geidam, Yobe State committed su***de.

He took his life after he was arrested for allegedly conniving with Boko Haram insurgents who attacked Yobe communities recently.

Help! Our Governor Is After 2023 While 'We're Celebrating Sallah With No Food Or Money After 30-day Fast' — Kogi Workers

Some of the workers, who spoke with Daily Post on Monday, said their hopes of getting their salaries were dashed with the Governor Yaya Bello-led government showing no commitment to paying them.

The aggrieved workers lambasted the Yahaya Bello's government for allowing the Muslim faithful to celebrate Sallah on empty stomachs

Despite the poor living condition of workers in his state, Bello last Wednesday picked N100 million Expression of Interest and nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his bid to vie for the party's presidential ticket ahead of 2023 election

A civil servant simply identified as Abduallhi said: “After one month of Ramadan fast, look at us now, we are celebrating Sallah without a penny in our pocket. I can’t buy a single cup of garri for my family to feed this festive season.

“We all thought the Governor will do the needful, most especially now that he is eyeing the number one sit in Nigeria. But look at Kogi workers now, nothing to write home about. We are now beggars. What a shameful time for us all to experience this hardship under the present administration."
