Sen. Ike Ekweremadu and wife reportedly arrested in UK for organ h@rvesting
Two Nigerians have been arrested by UK police for conspiring to traffic a child to Nigeria for the purpose of ‘h@rvesting’ the organs, Daily Mail reports.
Metropolitan police in a statement said that Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu and Ike Ekweremadu - a former deputy senate president - who are 55 and 60 years old respectively have been remanded in custody and will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court.
The police confirmed that Ike Ekweremadu and his wife have been charged with conspiring to arrange to bring a child to the UK to h@rvest organs in their home country, Nigeria.
Charges were brought against the pair ollowing an investigation by the Metropolitan Police's Specialist Crime team. Police, however, said the child has been safeguarded but did not disclose the gender or the age of the child or the location of the arrests.
The report suggests that it is likely the suspects were arrested at Heathrow Airport since they are appearing in a court in Uxbridge.
The investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022, the force said.

Police operatives in Anambra State have arrested one Onwele Anayo, 34, in connection with the m of a three-year-old boy, in Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Oyi LGA of the state.

The command’s spokesman, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, in a statement said the unfortunate incident occurred on Thursday, June 16, 2022.
“Preliminary information shows that the suspect visited the father of the victim on Wednesday 15/6/2022 and spent the night in the victim’s house. In the early hours of Thursday 16/6/2022, an argument ensued between the father and the suspect.
The suspect (Mr Anayo) took the child (Divine) as he was sleeping and k him, by h him on the floor several times. Mr Anayo carried a knife from the room and pursued the father around the house, thre@tening to k him.
Police Operatives have visited the scene and recovered the body of the child and an investigation is ongoing,” the statement reads.

Nollywood actor and singer, Moses Armstrong, has been arrested by the police in Akwa Ibom State for allegedly r@ping a 16-year-old girl.
The national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, who confirmed his arrest on Thursday, June 16, in a chat with Qed.ng, described the case as “a very serious one”.
According to him, the case is being handled by the First Lady of the state, Martha Udom Emmanuel, through her Family Empowerment and Youth Re-Orientation Path Initiative.
The AGN president added that the accusation was a sad development, as it involves one of their own. However, he said the organisation will not condone such a crime.

Burna Boy Knocks ‘Nigerian Social Media'
Grammy-award winning singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, on Wednesday came down on Nigerian Netizens.

Police arrest two over the killing of 17-year-old Imo girl
The Imo State Police Command, on Tuesday, confirmed the arrest of two persons over the alleged defilement and killing of a 17-year-old girl, Amarachi Iwunze.
Our correspondent, who visited the girl’s home at Umuezeala Nsu in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo, was also told by the victim’s father, Emeka Iwunze, grandfather, Raymond Iwunze, and aunt, Mrs Kasarachi Chinedu, that two persons had been arrested in respect of the alleged murder.
The girl’s father told our correspondent that her daughter’s cousin, Uche, was among the two persons arrested by the police.
He said that Uche was the person who lured his daughter to the place where she was defiled and murdered in the process.
Emeka, a Lagos-based businessman told our correspondent that the killing of his first child had broken his heart.
The victim’s aunt, Mrs Kasarachi Chinedu, told our correspondent that her niece was allegedly killed for a ritual purpose.
The enraged nurse said that some vital organs of her niece were missing when she went to the hospital to see her lifeless body.
“My brother’s daughter, Amaechi Iwunze, is a virgin. She was killed for a ritual purpose because her hair and thumbs were missing and her va**na and breasts were tampered with. When I saw her in the hospital, I examined her and discovered that she was killed earlier in the day because she was stiff. Her breasts were compressed and her va**na was tampered with because she was a virgin. We want justice.
The girl’s grandfather who could not withhold his tears said that he was dying because of the incident.
He called on the government and public-spirited individuals to ensure that his family got justice.
The police spokesperson for the command, Micheal Abattam, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects said that command was doing everything possible to ensure that justice was delivered.

There was pandemonium at Umuduruewuewuru, Umuezeala Nsu, in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State on Monday after some youths in the area razed the house of a 22-year-old suspected Internet fraudster, identified as Osuji.
Osuji allegedly r@ped a 14-year-old girl, Amarachi Iwunze, in his newly built house on Sunday.
A source in the community told our correspondent that Osuji escaped after his mother raised the alarm, which attracted residents and indigenes to the scene.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the teenager’s body was found in the suspect’s room.
The Publicity Secretary of Umuezeala Nsu Youth Organisation, Nathan Onyenehido, told our correspondent that the victim’s co**se was discovered on Sunday in Osuji’s room.
He said, “Little Amarachi Iwunze was r@ped to de@th on Sunday, June 12, 2022, by one Osuji, a suspected Yahoo boy and ritualist.
“The ugly news came late hours of yesterday when the mother of the suspect unlocked a room and found the de@d body of little Amarachi. On raising the alarm, it was discovered that Osuji, her son, was the suspect and killer.
“When Osuji found out that people were aware of his ugly act, he took to his heels.”
The victim’s grandfather, Raymond Iwunze, demanded justice.
He said, “Amarachi was my granddaughter. Her father, my first son, is in Lagos. She had been with me since the death of her mother, my daughter-in-law. I want the government to give me justice.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Micheal Abattam, confirmed the incident, adding that an investigation had commenced.
JUST IN: Gunmen Abduct Anglican Bishop, Wife, Driver In Oyo
Oyo Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the Bishop of Jebba Diocese (Anglican Communion) Kwara State, Rt. Rev Aderogba Adeyinka Oluwaseun, his wife, Oreofe and driver.
They were abducted on Sunday around 8:30 pm at an isolated area along New Oyo/Ogbomoso Expressway.
Oyo Police spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso, a Superintendent of Police, said the report of the abduction was lodged by one Rev Adekunle Adeluwa at the Atiba Divisional Police headquarters, Oyo.
Osifeso however said the Command has initiated an intensive manhunt for their abductors.
Narrating how the abduction allegedly took place, the Police spokesperson in a statement said preliminary investigations revealed that the victim’s vehicle developed what seemed a mechanical fault while travelling from Yewa, Ogun State to Jebba, Kwara State en route to an isolated area along New Oyo/Ogbomoso Expressway.
It was gathered the suspected abductors could have taken advantage of the issue with the vehicle to carry out the nefarious activity.
A source hinted the abductors have demanded a ransom of N50m.
The source hinted that a former Vice-Chancellor of the Ajayi Crowther University, Professor Dapo Asaju was contacted by the abductors but the claims could not be confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
Osifeso's statement reads: “On Sunday 12/06/2022 at about 2100HRS, One Rev. Adekunle Adeluwa reported to the Command through an incident report at Atiba Divisional Police Headquarters, Oyo town that at about 2030HRS, One Bishop Rt. Rev Aderogba of Jebba Diocese, Kwara State in the Company of his Wife and driver were abducted.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that the Victim’s vehicle developed what seemed a mechanical fault while travelling from Yewa, Ogun State to Jebba, Kwara State en route to an isolated area along New Oyo/Ogbomoso Expressway.
“The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations of the Command is in charge of the rescue operation that has commenced since 2100HRS of Sunday 12/06/2022.
“All the tactical teams of the Command Anti-Kidnapping squad, Ambush Squad, Puff Adder, Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) and Conventional Police personnel along with local hunters and vigilantes are all involved in the rescue operations.
“Meanwhile discreet investigation led by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) is simultaneously been vigorously embarked upon to ensure that the victims are rescued unhurt.
“While enjoining members of the public to report any suspicion to the nearest Police Division or formation, credible and timely information, the General Public are assured of their safety as they go about their lawful activities.”

Lady Narrates How She Was Kidnapped In Abuja
An interior designer, Joy Nwachukwu, shared her kidnap experience in Abuja on Thursday.
Nwachukwu, who tweeted her encounter with the kidnappers, said she boarded a vehicle from Peace Park junction heading to Life Camp, only to find herself in the arms of kidnappers.
She said, "The other guy that entered with me alighted at the Airport junction just by the AP filling station. Immediately he got down, they zoomed off. Before I could turn my head I got beaten from left, right and centre, was macheted in my hand, punched directly in both eyes."
Nwachukwu said she passed out and woke up along the Kaduna Road. A call to her mum saved the day as she (mum) offered to pay them the amount the person who sent them offered.
A ransom of one million naira was demanded.
After the payment of N400,000, she said that she was dropped off at 2.25 am at Life Camp junction and given N2,000 for transport.
Nwachukwu revealed that she ended up at the Trauma Centre, National Hospital, Abuja and reported the matter at the Utako Police Station.
