COVID-19: Lagos to re-open schools if… — Education commissioner

STRONG indications emerged, yesterday, that officials of the Federal and Lagos State governments are working out guidelines for re-opening of schools, which closure was precipitated by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
This came as the Lagos State Government hinted that there are plans to employ no fewer than 2,000 more teachers in its public primary schools.

Similarly, the state government, through the Office of Education Quality Assurance, has designed an initiative, tagged: ‘Read-Aloud, Lagos’, to create and stimulate the interest of school children in reading books.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Folashade Adefisayo disclosed this during an online show, Covinspiration show, moderated by a United Nations Youth Ambassador, Dayo Isreal, while giving scorecard of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration within the 360 days.

On the possible re-opening of schools, Adefisayo said: “Like other sectors already approved by the Federal Government to reopen, the state government is meeting with officials of the Federal Ministry of Education to design guidelines that must be adopted before the schools will be re-opened.
“We are watching the behaviour of the pandemic to see what happens next and we are working with the Federal government on the re-opening of the schools in the country as soon as possible.
“This is not a decision that any state can unilaterally take on its own. If we are certain that the children are safe, we will reopen the schools for learning to resume.
“We are already working with the Federal Ministry of Education and they are working with National Center for Disease Control, NCDC, on the guidelines that could be adopted when the need arises for the schools to reopen.
“After the protocol is completed and health officials assured us that the coast is clear, we will give the schools some days to adjust their premises in accordance with the guidelines on commencement of academic activities.”
On the recruitment plan of teachers, Adefisayo said: “We have concluded the recruitment of 1,000 secondary school teachers. And we are currently working on the recruitment of 2,000 teachers for public primary schools.
“We are looking at employing teachers every quarter because the rate of retirement of teachers is very high in Lagos. The administration has granted the ministry permission to replace retired teachers.
“Aside from recruitment, we have spent a lot on the training of current teachers to improve their teaching skills in classrooms. And this COVID-19 period was the time when we were able to do a lot of things in the education sector of Lagos state.”
On Read Aloud Initiative, the Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, said: “As an education quality assurance person, I was moved by the conviction that children perform better when they are led in the act of reading by someone else.”
Therefore, Reading-Aloud is expected to be the most important activity for building the knowledge required for eventual success

HOW LOCKDOWN HAS KEPT BUHARI FOR US 🤝

Humblewise Media Network🔰

It has yet to be confirmed whether the three months President Muhammadu Buhari has stayed in the country without travelling out is his longest stretch with us since his election as president.
If it is not, then it is certainly about the longest stretch that our president has stayed around since his first inauguration in May 2015.
Well, given his reputed Spartan inclinations, President Buhari will certainly not be accused of frolicking abroad. Even if he had been criticised for travelling for meetings and engagements he ordinarily should not have gone for, no one has, however, raised a miff of scandal around his foreign trips.
His mother is not alive for him to throw a birthday bash for her in Dubai just as Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila did last March in loving appreciation of the tender love shown him by his adorable mother.
So if the president and Nigeria’s elites have stayed with us this while essentially because of the global lockdown brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, then the malaise offers an opportunity to pluck other low hanging fruits that the country could gain from the pandemic
_Humblewise media network_
Of course the first fruit is the savings that have come from the lack of junketing that our public officers are used to. Even governors who presided over their states from Abuja have been forced to relocate.
Unfortunately, the social distancing protocol for surviving the COVID-19 pandemic may have impeded the country from benefiting from the president reaching out and relating more with people.

_Humblewise Media Network

THE Federal Government has warned against resumption of any school at any level, saying all schools remained closed. Acting on the government’s directive, National Universities Commission, NUC, has warned vice chancellors against reopening universities for any activities.

The government, in a circular dated Friday, May 8, 2020, to heads of commissions and regulatory bodies in the education sector, insisted that schools at all levels were still closed, asking them to ignore fake news in the social media that it had directed resumption of schools.
The Ministry of Education, in the letter, through the Permanent Secretary, Sonny Echono, entitled: Re: Management of Coronavirus Pandemic,” said: “All schools shall remain closed as we closely monitor developments on the containment of COVID-19.”

The circular was sent to the executive secretaries, National Universities Commission, NUC; National Board for Technical Education, NBTE; National Commission for Colleges of Education, NCCE, and the Director, Basic and Secondary Education, BSE.

Presidency makes clarification on reopening of schools as Buhari relaxes COVID-19 lockdown

The Presidency on Tuesday made clarifications on school resumption following the gradual relaxation of the lockdown ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Recall that Buhari had ordered a gradual relaxation of the lockdown starting from Monday next week, but was, however, silent on the reopening of schools
However, Buhari’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina while featuring on TVC, said schools may re-open for those about to take exams.

Adesina said candidates about to take West African. Examinations Council (WAEC) and other examinations may be allowed to go back to school.
He said: “If you look at Germany, they gradually reduced their lockdown by opening the schools for those who have exams.
Same may apply here as those who are to write WAEC and take examinations may be allowed to resume to take their exams.

👉“The Presidential Task Force will be the ones to decide on when to re-open" 🙌

!! Govt Raises Alarm, Says Those In Quarantine Have Started Having S*x With Each Other.......

The Ministry of Health permanent secretary in Uganda has revealed that people living in institutional quarantine in Uganda have started having s*x with each other. According to WatchDog Uganda, Permanent Secretary Diana Atwine made the claims during a recent interview on Radio One talk show, saying most of the people quarantined at hotels now move to rooms of others to go sleep with themselves. She said the Ministry of Health (MOH) is greatly concerned because the practice is jeopardizing the government’s efforts to curb the spreading of Coronavirus in Uganda. “Ugandans are not serious. Some who are in quarantine have even begun having (s*xual) affairs. They move to rooms of others in the hotels where we have placed them. Others like in Mulago move from their rooms to visit their colleagues who are in other rooms, this is too dangerous and it will distract our efforts,” said Atwiine.

Even all the warnings against the convergence of a large gathering by the federal government, some churches still went ahead and had their normal services.
However, In a bid to beat the coronavirus disease, Rmema Deliverance Mission has said that service may onwards be held on the social media platform, WhatsApp.
According to a journalist who visited the church in Awka, Anambra State, it was reported that even though the church was full to capacity as a result of a three-day crusade, which held in the church, the pastor, Dr Amaechi Nwachukwu said if the virus continues, the church may have to resort to holding worship on WhatsApp
_Humblewise Media Network_.
Amaechi said, “We may need to open a WhatsApp group for this church because if what is happening in the world persists, we may need to stop holding church services. With the WhatsApp, we can be holding services and communicating with each other without meeting physically.
“We urge you to drop your home addresses too, so that if we have to cut down on large gatherings, then I as the pastor can be visiting members at home to pray for them and also share the gospel.”

The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Abuja chapter, on Tuesday announced an indefinite strike amid anxiety over coronavirus.

Trump Imposes New Travel Ban On Nigeria, Five Other Countries

President Donald Trump has imposed a new travel ban restricting immigration from Nigeria, and five other countries in an expansion of his administration’s policy blocking travel from certain nations.

In line with the new policy, citizens from Nigeria, Eritrea, Myanmar, and Kyrgyzstan won’t be allowed to apply for visas to immigrate to the U.S.

According to the US government, the policy was designed to tighten security for countries that don’t comply with the U.S. minimum security standards or cooperate to prevent illegal immigration.

The Wall Street Journal reports that in line with the policy, two other countries, Sudan and Tanzania, will be barred from participating in the diversity visa lottery, which randomly awards green cards to 50,000 immigrants from underrepresented countries annually.

According to US officials, the new restrictions are set to take effect on Feb 21 and will apply only to new visa applications. Immigrants who were issued valid visas before that date will still be able to move to the U.S.

Nigeria and the five other countries listed will join a list of seven nations that faced significant travel restrictions under President Trump’s original travel ban which was issued earlier in 2017.

What Novel are we reading for jamb 2020? This is the hot cake question many candidates have been asking me. Without beating about the bush, the recommended text for Jamb 2020/2021 is Sweet Sixteen.
If this is the first time you are sitting for jamb, take note that Jamb recommends novels to be read yearly for jamb use of English . The Jamb Novel is compulsory for both art, Science and Commercial students.

Jamb uses Novel two or three times before Introducing a new one. Sweet 16 was introduced in 2019 Jamb, therefore, it is more than likely to be used for Jamb 2020.
A number of questions will come out from the novel. Trust me, sweet sixteen will carry a whole lot of marks. You won’t be happy with yourself failing questions because of refusal to read the novel.

Now you may be wondering, is sweet sixteen hard or simple to read? How many days will it take me to understand the Jamb new book? Which is simpler between In Dependence and sweet sixteen by Jamb? Continue reading for description and summary of sweet sixteen

Christmas is unbiblical — Pastor Olukoya, Kumuyi, Daddy Freeze, Reno Omokri concur

ON DECEMBER 29, 20191:05 AMIN WORSHIP

By Sam Eyoboka

DAYS after this year’s Christmas, a day set aside to mark the birth of the progenitor of the Christian faith—-the debate over the actual date of birth of Jesus Christ rages on as the General Overseer, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr. Daniel Olukoya, said the celebration is unbiblical.

Speaking at the Wednesday Manner Water Service which coincided with the 2019 Christmas celebration at the church’s headquarters in Lagos, Olukoya became the first frontline Pentecostal minister to openly declare that no book in the bible recorded the word ‘Christmas’ or that Jesus was born on December

If you really study the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, there is no word like Christmas. The Bible only recorded that the Shepherds were taking care of their flocks during a very cold season when they sighted the star that announced the birth of Jesus Christ. This cold period could be around April or May,’’ Olukoya said.

According to him, December 25 is a date originally set aside by the ancient Romans for Mars festival by the worshippers of the sun.
Olukoya said that the birth of Jesus Christ was subsequently co-opted into the same date to give the Mars festival more popularity and then renamed ‘Christmas’.
He warned the modern Christians to stop promoting such unbiblical celebration.
According to him, the MFM church has decided to henceforth engage members in various spiritual activities during such periods and other public holidays to discourage them from partaking in such unscriptural celebration.

In a similar development, the General Superintendent, Deeper Life Christian Ministry, Pastor Williams Folorunsho Kumuyi, has endorsed the position of Dr Olukoya that December 25 was not the birthday of Jesus Christ.
🔊
Kumuyi made this known during the annual December retreat held at the Deeper Life Camp on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun state, saying: “My people have gone astray, you’ve gone back into the world. All the merriment of Christmas, drinking, all the celebration of Egyptians is now upon you…come to Jesus.”

I’m getting married next year ― Wizkid

ON DECEMBER 25, 20198:05 AMIN ENTERTAINMENT

By Humblewise Media Network

After three kids from three different women, Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Balogun (stage name: Wizkid) has declared he’s getting married next year 2020.

Wizkid (29), made the declaration in a series of tweets on his official handle after declaring he will be a new man next year.
The singer, who was promoting his signature concert “Starboy Fest” said he has many more revelations to unveil at the concert.
His decision to get married and settle down came as a rude shock to many of his followers because the singer had earlier vowed never to settle down with anyone woman.

His reason: “I love too many women to settle down with one,” he had said.
But the big puzzle here is whether he will be picking any one of his 3 baby mamas to settle down with.
