CHAPTER 1
"don't you dare use your filthy hands to touch me" Amanda yelled at one of the bodyguards who tried to get her bag from her.
"Amy, that's our bodyguard okay?. He's not trying to touch you. He's just trying to get the bag from you" Mr Daniel, her father told her and she rolled her eyes.
"better" she said and handed over the bag to the bodyguard.
"Amy my baby. Please be careful of how you walk okay?" Mrs Rose, her mum said worriedly after seeing her furious footstep.
"yes mum. Trust me okay? I'm never gonna miss my steps. I'm not a child" she said
"yes, you are"
"no, I'm not"
"yes, you are"
"no, I'm not"
And that's how the argument continued until they reached where their car was parked.
They had just arrived from the United States and from the airport, they were going back home.
Few minutes later, they arrived at their huge erected mansion in the city of Lagos, Ikorodu to be precised.
One of the bodyguards came down to open the door for them.
"will you be fast in opening the door? Stop being clumsy for Christ sakkee" Amanda yelled at the bodyguard who was trying to open the door for her.
"I'm so sorry ma'am" the bodyguard apologized.
"It's Miss Amy dummy" she said
"I'm sorry Miss Amy" the bodyguard apologized once again.
"let me remind you again and you're done for good" she said and started walking towards the mansion and into the house.
Immediately she entered, all the maids began bowing for her.
She flinged her bag to one of them but the girl couldn't catch it immediately and the bag slipped off her hand and fell on the floor.
Amanda immediately turned in fury and began walking towards the girl.
"how dare you let my expensive bag fall to the ground that way? Do you know how much this bag cost? This bag could buy you, buy your entire household and feed them for a whole year" she yelled in fury.
The maid immediately fell to the ground and began begging for mercy.
"ma'am I'm sorry" she begged
"another grievance mistake. It's not ma'am. It is Miss Amy. Why am I even talking to you? Mum, Dad, I want her fired right away" she said turning to her parents who have been watching the scenario since.
"It's fine Amy. Don't worry she'll change" her dad said trying to convince her but her mind was already made up.
"dad who are you choosing? A maid or me?" she asked her dad.
"ermm. Alright dear. It's fine." he said and turned to the maid.
"what's your name again?"
"chidinma sir" the maid reply.
"I'm sorry dear but you're fired. Later, I'll transfer your payment for this month to your account. Thanks for your service all these while" Mr. Daniel said and turned to Amanda but she was already on her way to her room.
"who the hell is showing me the way to my room and my room itself. Don't let me get there before you " she yelled on the top of her voice.
One of the maids immediately began running up the stairs and passed Amanda, then went straight to a particular room.
"this is your room ma'am" she said and immediately covered her mouth.
"oh, I'm sorry Miss Amy" she corrected herself.
"another grievance mistake. You're fired. Tell dad I said so" she said and wanted going inside but stopped and turned back to the girl.
"come back here" she said and the maid turned back to her.
"before you get fired. Open the door for me" she said and the maid opened the door.
"good. Now, you're fully fired" Amanda said and went inside her room.
The room was huge and as big as an average man's flat. It was decorated with her best color, pink. Almost everything in the room was shining pink.
She sat on her queen sized bed, picked up her phone and began laughing and going through stuffs on the internet.
"Miss Amy, dinner is served. Your parents are waiting for you at the dinning table." one of the maids said to Amanda and she immediately turned to the maid.
"how did you get in here?. Are you so handicapped that you can't knock?" she immediately yelled.
"miss..but..I knocked but you were busy on the.."
"so, what're you trying to say? Are you trying to say that I'm deaf and couldn't hear you?"
"no no.. I never said that.. I.." the maid stammered trying to defend herself.
"you're fired" Amanda said and walked out of the room, and began going downstairs to the dinning table.
When she reached the dinning table, her parents were already waiting for her so they began eating immediately after saying a short prayer.
"hey you, get me a glass of water" Amanda said to one of the maids who was standing beside them in the dinning.
The maid immediately left and came back with a glass of water.
"here's your water Miss" she said and handed over the water to Amanda.
She took a sip of the water and screamed.
"are you okay?" she asked the maid furiously.
"did I told you I needed warm water?" she asked.
"but ma.. you never made your prefere..." the maid was still speaking when she splashed the water on her.
"are you stupid? Shouldn't your common sense enlighten you that I just returned from a journey and what I would obviously be needing is a chilled water to calm my nerves down?" she said annoyed.
"you know what? You're fired." she said and Mr. Daniel immediately stood up.
"can you just stop already?" he said
"what dad?"
"can you just stop this attitude of yours already? What the hell is even wrong with you? You just returned to Nigeria today and you've fired almost all the maids today. What exactly is your problem Amy?"
"dad I am tired okay? I want to go back to America. Nigeria sucks. I don't like it here. I don't even know why you decided to bring me here to this country. This country sucks for crying out loud" Amanda yelled.
"well, that country you just talked about is your country and you should get ready because you've already been enrolled in a private school here in Nigeria" Mr. Daniel said.
"what? Dad? did you just yell at me? You just yelled at me for the first time in history. I hate you" She said and immediately ran upstairs in tears.
"Omg!" Mr. Daniel exclaimed with his hands on his head while Mrs. Rose immediately followed Amanda upstairs to her room to soothe her.
