Nigeria Police has arrested one Bello Mohammed, a suspected bandit, who killed lawyer’s daughter Nabeeha in Abuja.

The Police, in a statement on Sunday, disclosed that a 28-year-old Bello Mohammed was apprehended in a Kaduna hotel raid on January 20 with N2.25 million in suspected ransom money.

Under questioning, Mohammed confessed to being part of the gang that kidnapped Barrister Ariyo’s family members in Bwari on January 2nd.

Bandit kill 5 sisters after parent failed to pay ransom in Abuja.

The siblings were kidnapped alongside their father, Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar, from their home at Zuma 1, on the outskirts of Bwari town in Abuja On January 5, 2024.

During the attack, two policemen were reported shot by the gunmen.

The captors later released their father on the condition that he would get the ransom for the release of his daughters on or before last Friday.

One Adamu Asiya, who claimed to be a family member, in a post on Sunday, said the kidnappers increased the ransom from N60 million to N100 million after one of the girls was first killed.

However, their father unable to raise the money and the assailants reportedly killed the remaining children.

Palmpay, Opay Announces Account Changes in response to the CBN directive, Customers To Update.

For Opay, customers will now have to provide a bank account verification to help users authenticate BVN , system will verify the face of the user with that on the BVN database, or double-check with the user’s real-name with an OTP process which then certifies authenticity of the user.

Similarly, PalmPay has launched a new security in-app version that mandates all new users to input their BVN or NIN numbers before a wallet can be created.

Speaking on the upgrade, Chika Nwosu, Managing Director of PalmPay, said the changes are for existing and new users having BVN or NIN.

"Also, to limit incidents of impersonation, after the successful input of the NIN or BVN, users will be required to proceed to the face recognition process.

BREAKING: Bitcoin, BNB fell sharply on Wednesday after Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, CEO of Binance, resigned from the world’s largest crypto exchange and pleaded guilty to several criminal charges from the Department of Justice.

Binance now facing an over $4 billion fine for breaking several U.S. anti-money laundering laws and skirting financial regulations.

CZ pleaded guilty in a Seattle court on Tuesday, and announced his resignation on social media platform X, Richard Teng, former head of Abu Dhabi’s financial authority and currently the head of Binance’s regional markets, will take his place as CEO.

CZ is now barred from any involvement in Binance, faces a personal $50 million fine and could potentially face prison time.

Nigeria Federal Government set to release 4,068 inmates from Correctional facilities Nationwide.

The flag-off launched at Kuje Medium Custodial Centre, Abuja was conducted by Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

He explained N585m was raised by philanthropists, groups and corporate bodies as part of their corporate social responsibility to settle the fines of the 4,068 released inmates and pay compensation for them.
