Nigeria's bobsled team competes in the sport of bobsledding. Seun Adigun founded the first team in 2016 as a women's team for the two-woman event. In 2017, they qualified for the Winter Olympics for the first time as Nigerians and the first Africans in bobsled.

The team was initially totally self-funded, with no financial assistance from Nigerian authorities. Being able to raise funds to support the squad convinced the Nigerian government that a governing federation for bobsled was needed, which they did, forming the Bobsled & Skeleton Federation of Nigeria (BSFN). The team's first attempt to qualify for the Winter Olympics came in 2017, in the two-woman event of bobsledding for the 2018 Winter Olympics. Driver Seun Adigun and brakemen Ngozi Onwumere and Akuoma Omeoga made up the 2018 Olympic team. The squad met the minimum requirements to compete in the qualifiers in November 2017.

The squad qualified for the Olympics and competed in the Winter Games for Nigeria. Nigeria is one of eight African nations that competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Onwumere marched with her two colleagues, as well as another Nigerian Simidele Adeagbo, who qualified for women's skeleton, at the 2018 Winter Olympics opening ceremony Parade of Nations.

The team came in last place out of a total of 20 teams that competed. What counts, in our perspective, is not the position they took; what matters is that our country was represented, and in fact, was the first on our continent to do so. That is an incredible achievement in itself.

The story of Nigeria's bobsled squad is a true Nigerian story, and all we've done here is provide some background information. If you want to learn more about it, you may do so by reading more about it.

Please keep in mind that we are committed to telling authentic stories from Nigeria.

In line with our mission to spread and share the untold part of our stories, a representative of our team met with a group of students in Poland on the 27th of September, 2021, where he adequately educated them about Nigeria.

At the meeting, he held the audience (who are all foreigners) by hand and walk them through the story of Nigeria. He spoke about the different ethnic groups in Nigeria, their culture. He also spoke about the economic benefits of the huge population of Nigeria if properly managed.

In summary, the students left the hall two days ago with adequate knowledge and the truth about Nigeria

The presentation was fun, interesting, and most importantly educating. All the students fell in love with Nigeria after the presentation and some of them already developed an Interest in Nigeria and would love to visit one day.

Keep spreading the word about SwanTV and together we'll change the global perception towards Nigeria, one at a time.

Nollywood is Nigeria's film industry just the way Bollywood is to India and Hollywood is to the United States.

In 2002, the term was coined to described the Nigerian film industry for the first time. The term's first appearance was in a 2002 New York Times article by Matt Steinglass, in which it was used to describe Nigerian movies. In a September 2002 write-up for the New York Times, Norimitsu Onishi, a New York Times journalist, used this term as well.

While Nollywood does not generate as much revenue as Hollywood or Bollywood, it is the second largest in terms of the number of films made each year. In 2009, the industry overtook Hollywood as the world's second-largest film industry by volume, after only India's Bollywood.

The sector is entirely indigenous, and the progress it has made since its inception can be attributed to all of the industrious Nigerians who are involved in it. Please feel free to learn more about the industry; we guarantee it will be time well spent.

Chief Agbani Darego, MFR was born on the 22nd of December 1982 in the city of Lagos, Nigeria as the sixth of eight children. She's a Nigerian model and beauty queen.

Her family moved to Port Harcourt when she was two years old, and she was raised there. Darego attended Bereton Montessori Nursery and Primary School, and at ten was sent to a boarding school in a bid to shield her from her mother who was battling breast cancer. Inaewo, her mother, ran a rice trading business and a garment boutique before passing away two years after her daughter started boarding school. Darego once said that losing her mother at such a young age prepared her for future difficulties. She studied Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Port Harcourt after completing her secondary education.

Darego aspired to be a model as a teenager and, despite her conservative father's wishes, auditioned for the M-Net Face of Africa modeling competition, but was not selected as a finalist.

Darego was voted Nigeria's Most Beautiful Girl in 2001, and a few months later she competed in Miss Universe, where she became the first Nigerian to make the top 10 semi-finalists, finishing seventh overall. In November of the same year, she became the first indigenous African to win Miss World.

Please note that she is not the first African to win the crown, however, despite the fact that all prior African winners won as Africans, it is important to clarify that they are not of African descent. Penelope Coelen and Anneline Kriel, both from South Africa, are of European ancestry, and Antigone Costanda, who represented Egypt in 1954 is of Greek heritage. Agbani Darego is the first indigenous African to Bd crowned as the Miss World.

Darego was given an honorary chieftaincy by the Lagos Council of Chiefs after her victory in 2001. She was one of the country's youngest chiefs at the time of her investiture.

Darego dropped out of the University of Port Harcourt due to her hectic work schedule, but after moving to New York and signing with Next Model Management, Ford Models, and Trump Models, she enrolled at New York University to study Psychology and graduated in May 2012.

Chief AGBANI DAREGO is one of us, and her story is authentically Nigerian. We gave a brief overview of her and some of the accomplishments she's had so far in this short piece. We wish her a long and prosperous life, and we hope she does even more. If you want to learn more about the global beauty queen, you can do so by doing some research. We can guarantee you that there is more to learn about her, and it will be time well spent.

Professor Akinwande Oluwole Soyinka (Professor Wole Soyinka), a descendant of the monarchs of Isara, was born the second of seven children in the city of Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, on the 13th of July in the year 1934, that was at the time of the British Dominion in Nigeria.

Today, when we consider how far Professor Wole Soyinka has come, we can safely conclude that he has successfully written his name on the good pages of history, and there is no way we can discuss Nigerians who have done or are currently doing things that bring credit to the country's image without mentioning Professor Wole Soyinka. He's an epitome of excellence.

Professor Wole Soyinka taught Comparative Literature at Obafemi Awolowo University, previously known as the University of Ife, in Osun state Nigeria from 1975 to 1999. In 1999, when civilian rule was restored in Nigeria, he was promoted to professor emeritus. From 1988 to 1991, he was the Goldwin Smith Professor of African Studies and Theatre Arts at Cornell University, and then from 1996 to 1996, he was the Robert W. Woodruff Professor of the Arts at Emory University.

Professor Wole Soyinka has taught creative writing at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and has been a scholar-in-residence at New York University's Institute of African American Affairs and Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. He has also taught at Oxford, Harvard, and Yale universities. In 2008, Soyinka served as a Distinguished Scholar in Residence at Duke University.

In the year 1986, Professor Wole Soyinka was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. As a result, he became the first African from Sub-Saharan Africa to get this honour. An autobiography, Aké: The Years of Childhood, was published in 1981 and followed by the companion pieces Ìsarà: A Voyage Around Essay (1989) and Ibadan: The Penkelemes Years: A Memoir, 1946–1965 (1994). In 2006 he published another memoir, You Must Set Forth at Dawn. In 2005–06 Soyinka served on the Encyclopædia Britannica Editorial Board of Advisors.

He also received the Europe Theatre Prize in the "Special Prize" category in December 2017, which is given to someone who "contributes to the realization of cultural events that promote understanding and the sharing of knowledge across peoples."

Professor Wole Soyinka is one of us, and his story is authentically Nigerian. We give a brief overview of him and some of the accomplishments he has made in this short piece. We wish him a long and prosperous life, and we hope he does even more. If you want to learn more about the emeritus professor, you can do so by doing some research. We can guarantee you that there is more to learn about him, and it will be time well spent.

Nature has benefited Nigeria in a variety of ways. Some of these natural benefits are unique to Nigeria and can only be found in Nigeria. For example, THE ANAMBRA WAXBILL, which can only be found in Southern Nigeria and nowhere else on the planet.

As research would have it, an average Anambra waxbill is around 12 cm in length. This bird has a dun colouration and a reddish brown bill and rump. It has very fine barring on its upperparts, sides of breast, and flanks, as well as unusually pale eyes. When examined carefully, it makes a “tzzzt” sound like a waxbill.

The Anambra waxbill lives in small flocks of up to 20 birds or more. It is usually found in long grass along rivers, lagoon sandbanks, marshes, swamps and forests. It feeds principally on grass seeds taken form seedheads.

This is it about THE ANAMBRA WAXBILL. If you wish to learn more about this fascinating organism, you may do so by conducting more research. Also, please feel free to comment on our post if you have any information regarding the Anambra waxbill or anything else about Nigeria that you believe we should know about.
