Who am I?
This is one question you should ask yourself every day. When you do, write something down, no matter how it may sound.
Settle down and gather all your thoughts and draft an effective "ABOUT YOU" document. Have a long form and an elevator pitch form (about yourself in a minute).
Doing this, for me, helps me check where I am, where I m going and how far I have gone. It also helps you get prepared for questions like this especially during networking or a job interview.
So I urge us as laboratory professionals, to do this.

Welcome to WHO IS A SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST!
In Part 4, we will be discussing the key differences between SLT and MLS, as well as the unique skills and knowledge required for each.
The first thing I tell most of my students, especially those who are in their finals and want to further their education is to convert their project into a journal manuscript.
Your first publication should be your undergraduate project.
It's so simple to convert because ;
1. You've done all the work already
2. It has gone through some level of review and correction
3. It was part of the requirements for you to graduate.
So, why not turn it into your FIRST PUBLICATION.
I will be teaching you how in my free class which is in 15 days.
It's free to register just click on the link in the comment section and kick start your journey.
Good Writing is made up of two Ingredients
1. Communication
2. Engagement.
So, What makes you think that an academic paper cannot be interesting as a novel?
Just use these tips I listed here to WRITE an engaging manuscript.
Join my class on the 30th of this Month. It's still Free till then.

WHO IS A SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST/SCIENTIST
This was the major topic of a webinar I hosted. My brother Akpede Akp was really helpful in answering many concerns concerning SLT, therefore it was an excellent session.
But I keep getting inquiries about things he's already addressed. And naturally, I point them toward the YouTube video.
Still, they keep returning and posing the same questions maybe because the video is long.
So as a result, I am preparing videos to support the points he had already stated. In this video, I answered 2 questions.
1. WHO IS A SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST/SCIENTIST
2. Options available in SLT.
I hope you find the information helpful.
Thanks

Building a good academic portfolio does not only entail having good grades but also involves having quality experiences in your field of study.
Publishing the findings of your work is a great way to build a great academic portfolio especially for the international Academic environment.
Publication is a vital step in the research lifecycle and in your career as a scientist. When you publish your results as a journal article, you make it possible for the scientific community to see it.
Publishing your work allows you to get recognition for your results, and to exchange your ideas with the global scientific community as well as makes you stand out a job or scholarship application
With that being said, I am rolling out a course titled
"๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐
๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐"
I started scientific article writing in 2016 and I have consistently done that for the past 6 years. It literally a part of me.
I have over 8 publications in reputable Journals, a 5.8 Research index impact and about 50 mentions and citation on academia.
And I have designed this course to help you write the best article possible by providing you with points to consider, from your background reading and study design to manuscript structuring.
At the end of this course you should be able to
โ Prepare your own research manuscript
โ know the importance of journal publication
โ understand the writing process
โ Structure your manuscript and what to include in each section.
This course is strictly for those who are interested. It's not for everyone one.

In this video, we'll discuss how to identify predatory journals so you can avoid them!
Predatory journals are journals that charge money for article submissions and often do not provide a quality writing or research experience and they often don't adhere to the standards of academic publishing.
When you cannot identify these journals, you may end up submitting your quality research to a predatory journal, which can lead to negative consequences on your academic pursuit.
By learning how to identify these journals, you can protect your academic career and avoid paying for poor quality work.
So, in this video, we're discussing how to identify predatory journals and how to avoid them. By the end of the video, you'll know how to identify a predatory journal and how to protect yourself from them!

What's the difference between
1. Problem of the study
2. Purpose of the study
3. Significance of the study.
Oya Follow me.
In my years of experience, this three things gave me quite a tough time. Chai!!!
But lass lass, I figured them out once and for all.

๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐
This is the ๐๐๐ your research will fill. This means that, after telling us the background of your research and saying that other researchers have done something related to your topic, what is that thing that they have not done yet. This is where you come in.
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐
๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐
Here you are telling us ๐๐๐ it is important to fill that gap. What if they didn't want to fill that gap for a reason. So give us good convincing points and possible adverse effect of that gap isn't filled.
๐๐๐๐๐๐
๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐
๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐
Here you tell us ๐๐๐ will find this problem useful. What's the point of solving something if it has no use. So, your research has to solve human problems especially. So make a list of the sectors that may find that your research useful if eventually the problem is solved.
I will be explaining this even better in my next video with specific examples

I think it was about a month ago, I posted a video on this topic on my channel.
I was excited about the whole content in the video.
As a laboratory technologist, I am part of many SLT groups on Facebook.
So I posted this said video on these groups and waited to get approved by admin.
The admin approved and got a lot of interaction with the content and that was great.
Many liked the content, however there were some who didn't like some statements I made in the video.
So, I went on to ask questions and figured out that some of my information were out of date. And i totally apologize.
I got corrected by and learned a lot more about Science Laboratory Technology as a profession.
Since we're out to help in enlightenment of professionals like us, we have organized a ๐
๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, just for YOU.
This webinar will address key issues surroundings the Science Laboratory Technology profession.
These include but not limited to
1. What SLT is all about
2. Why chose SLT as a profession
3. How to get licensed as a SLT graduate
4. If SLT holders can work in hospitals
5. What options (specialty) are better to choose?
6. What are the postgraduate options for SLT graduates?
These and many more will be answered when you attend.

When you submit an article to a journal publisher, they thank you and send it to a group of reviewers (usually two, but sometimes three) to ensure the quality of your work.
Your manuscript will either be accepted or rejected by the editor based on the reviewer's suggestion.
In this video, I go over 8 key points that editors and reviewers look for when evaluating your work.
When you turn in that well-written paper, they look for the following:
1. If you follow the "๐๐๐๐๐๐'๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ or ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐S TO AUTHORS."
2. If your TITLE corresponds to their objectives
3. If the ABSTRACT contains all of the required elements
4. if the INTRODUCTION is descriptive enough;
5. if the METHOD is acceptable for the title
6. If there is substantial evidence in the RESULTS and DISCUSSION,
7. If the CONCLUSION is relevant to the purpose of the paper.
8. If the plagiarism check is successful.
Other details are considered by the reviewers before making a decision, but these are the most important.
When I started writing in form of publishing my findings
I didn't know that anyone will be interested in what I have to offer.

LET'S NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF BOOKS
Someone asked me one time if I am given 200million Naira what will I do with it.
I said the first thing I would do is to buy books to teach me how to utilize that money.
I learnt that from reading another book.
There's every book for everything you want to do in this life.
The first book I ever read was "Rich dad poor dad". It changed my life.
There was a time I lacked self confidence, I went to look for a book to help me build my self confidence.
I currently have a problem of not knowing what I really wanted, I went on to look for another book to help me with that and I am currently reading that book.
All this is just to encourage us to read books that will help us.

The first step in writing your final year project is choosing a topic. This step is however strenous for many students as they are scared of rejections. In this video, I have outlined simple tips that will help you choose the right topic. A good topic is; 1. Original (Unique not completely new). 2. Manageable ( not easy but possible) 3. Something you are interested in. 4. Something relevant (what is the significance?). All these points have been explained briefly and in detail. If you have other suggestions that I didn't mention here, please feel free to drop a comment so we can all learn.
