AIT’s Founder, Raymond Dokpesi Dies In Abuja

Raymond Dokpesi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and founder, DAAR Communications plc(parent company of AIT) , has died at the age of 71.

A family member confirmed this to THE WHISTLER on Monday, saying the media mogul died at a hospital in Abuja.

According to the family source who doesn’t want to be mentioned, Dokpesi had suffered a stroke shortly after the recent Ramadan fast and had been managing his health since.

The family source told THE WHISTLER that Dokpesi was eventually placed on occupational therapy to improve his daily activities through walking out at the gym.

The source said during one of his routine gym exercises, Dokpesi was electrocuted while using one of the gym equipment, leading to stroke and his eventual death.

The Dokpesi family is expected to issue a statement on the development soon.

NEC RECOMMEND POSTPONEMENT OF PETROL SUBSIDY REMOVAL

The National Economic Council (NEC) has agreed that the plan to remove petrol subsidy should not be executed yet.

It however said all preparatory plans with various segment of government, including States and the incoming administration should be intensified.

Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, who disclosed these to journalists after the Valedictory NEC meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, however added that Council agreed that the subsidy regime must be removed eventually as it is not sustainable.

“Today I was in the National Economic Council, where we discussed the issue of post-subsidy removal. Council agreed that the timing for the removal of subsidy should not be now, but that we should continue with all of the preparation works that needs to be done and that this preparation work has to be done in consultation with the states and other key stakeholders, including representatives of the incoming administration.

“Council agreed that the first subsidy must be removed earlier rather than later because it is not sustainable. We cannot afford it anymore. We have to do it in such a way that the impact of the subsidy is as much as possible, mitigated on the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

“So, this will require looking at alternatives to the post subsidy that needs to be planned for and subsequently put in place but also what needs to be done to support the people that would be most affected as a result of the removal.

“So, we will be working together with representatives of the States. We will have a plan that we will start working on putting the building blocks towards the eventual removal of the fuel subsidy.

“If I May remind the forum, that the budget for 2023 has provision for subsidy only up to June 2023 and also the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) has a provision that requires that all petroleum products must be deregula

Bet9ja Woes: Court Convicts Mother, Son for False Information

The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has secured a conviction of one Oluwayemisi Samuel and her Son, Joshua Samuel, before Justice A.A Bello of the Kaduna State High Court on separate one count charge each bordering on false information.

Oluwayemisi and Joshua squandered the sum of N5,600,000 on sport betting and caused a false petition to be sent to the EFCC, alleging that the money was fraudulently withdrawn from their Opay account to a sport betting account without their authorisation by an unknown individual.

They pleaded guilty to the charges. In view of their pleas, prosecution counsel N. Salele urged the court to convict them accordingly.

Justice Bello however convicted and sentenced both defendants to 7 years imprisonment each with an option of N 150,000 fine.

Multichoice says the upward review of DStv and GOtv packages was due to the rising costs of business operations.

The new rate which will begin from May 1, 2023, was announced in a text message to its customers.

The company said the upward review of DStv and GOtv packages was due to the rising costs of business operations.

The text message reads, “Please note that from May 1, your monthly subscription (premium) will be N24,500. To retain your old price of N21,000 for up to 12 months ensure you are active by April 30”.

With this development, Pulse understands that the price on the Compact Plus bouquet will increase from N14,250 monthly N16,600.

Monthly subscription for Compact will increase from N9,000 to N10,500, while subscribers on Confam package will pay N6,200 compared to the previous N5,300.

The subscriptions for DStv Yanga and Padi bouquets will rise to N3,500 and N2,500 respectively, as against N2,950 and N2,150.

For Gotv subscribers, the price for Supa package will increase from N5,500 to N6,400, while GOtv Max increases from N4,150 to N4,850.

More so, the subscription for GOtv Jolli package price will increase from N2,800 to N3,300, while the GOtv Jinja and GOtv Lite packages will rise from N1,900 to N2,250; and from N900 to N1,100, respectively.

This is coming barely a year after the Pay TV firm increased its subscriptions rates.

In March 2022, the company said the prices were increased due to the rising costs of inflation and business operations in the country.

WhatsApp users! Exciting news! Starting today, WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows you to log into the same WhatsApp account on up to four phones. 📲 This means you can now enjoy increased device flexibility, seamless multi-device experience, enhanced collaboration, and more. Let's dive into what this new feature could mean for you!

One of the key benefits of this feature is increased device flexibility. If you use multiple devices, such as a personal phone, a work phone, a tablet, or a secondary phone, you can now use the same WhatsApp account on all of them. This makes it easier than ever to stay connected on all your devices without having to log in and out repeatedly.

Another advantage is the seamless multi-device experience. With this new feature, you can switch between devices without any hassle. For example, you can start a conversation on your phone and continue it on your tablet or vice versa, making it more convenient and efficient to use WhatsApp across different devices.

Collaboration is also made easier with this feature. If you have a business or a family account that multiple team members or family members need to access, you can now log in to the same WhatsApp account on up to four phones simultaneously. This allows for smooth communication and coordination among team members or family members on a single WhatsApp account.

However, it's important to consider privacy and security implications as well. Since WhatsApp accounts are usually tied to phone numbers, logging into the same account on multiple phones may raise concerns about privacy and security. It's essential to be cautious about sharing your account information or using your account on devices that you trust, and take appropriate measures to protect your account and personal information.

In conclusion, the ability to log into the same WhatsApp account on up to four phones is an exciting new feature that brings increased device flexibility, seamless multi-device
