"GOTTA BE TOUGH IF YOU'RE GONNA BE STUPID"
At about 8am this morning, I watched an over one-hour video by Gary Halbert when I heard those words. I couldn't even disagree one tiny bit.
Let me tell you a true story.
There was this student of mine whom I taught some pre-varsity classes, as he was seeking admission into the faculty I graduated from at the University of Ibadan. He would always read stuff that were too advanced, spend money on big textbooks and materials rather than focus on what I taught.
Imagine for a second, a student preparing to write UI post-UTME reading some things in LAW101 textbook and asking questions on them in Government class or asking questions on pseudo-cleft sentences in English Language. One time, he talked about Epics like Beowulf in Literature class. 🤦
Waste of time, effort and money (on those textbooks and materials). I, his teacher, had been through the same process and have successfully taken many others through the same process. Why wouldn't he just listen?
I'm sure it comes as no surprise that I taught him for two years before he finally became humble enough to listen to me. After it all, he still didn't even get his desired course but hopes to try at the second degree.
Now, here's what that statement was about:
Some people have undergone a process, possibly made mistakes and learned... Now, they have put in all their experiences in step by step methods and you still want to do it the hard way?
Well, you've gotta be tough, if you're gonna be stupid.
This sounds harsh but it really is the truth about what many of us do. There are many different stages of our lives and various needs at those different stages. It could be a desire to have other streams of income, it could be wanting to relocate to another country, it could be wanting to take an international examination, it could be buying and selling (import/export) et cetera. Whatever it is, seek persons who know how best to go through these processes. If not, it'll be a pretty tough ride of making terrible mistakes which could have been avoided.
That brings me to this point. I have a lot of information to share about the above mentioned areas from sources I KNOW will give you value. Don't make costly mistakes. "Experience is the best teacher" doesn't mean you have to go through certain bad experiences to learn. It is sufficient to learn from those who have gone ahead. I hope you make right informed choices.
I await your messages if you need any help.
God bless you, Beloved.
