Information from the area indicated that he was killed during the Saturday evening Ramadan prayer.

INSECURITY:KATSINA POLITICIAN COMMEND RADDA, NORTHWEST GOVERNORS.

A Katsina politician, Honorable Abdulkarim Sani 'Yar' adua (Dan Amanar Audu Soja) has commended Katsina state Governor Dr. Dikko Umar Radda for mobilizing North-northwest governors in the fight against terrorism and banditry.

'Yaradua who was speaking in an interview with newsmen in katsina said the security solution proffered by Governor Dikko Umar Radda in Katsina state has been embraced by the governors.

He similarly commended the role of former Zamfara governor Matawalle and the current minister of defense Badaru in checking the menace of banditry in the area.

He however advocated that a synergy with the chairman of the Senate committee on defense Senator Abdul'aziz 'Yaradua and other stakeholders in the zone will bring peace and security in the area.

Hardship:Former Katsina SSG rescues Katsina journalists with 60 Bags of Rice.

Considering the biting economic situation in the country, the immediate former Secretary to the Government of Katsina State, Dr. Mustafa Muhammad Inuwa has donated sixty bags of rice to journalists in Katsina State.

The gesture which is part of Ramadan palliatives was distributed to sixty journalists across various chapels of the NUJ in the state.Each of the 60 journalists got a bag of Rice.

Meanwhile, the Ramadan gesture has been a tradition of Dr. Inuwa for over fifteen years which he has sustained both in and out of government.

A loyal friend of journalists, Dr. Inuwa has been known to cultivate and maintain a smooth personal relationship with journalists across various media outfits in the state and beyond.

A former lecturer who hails from Danmusa Local Government Area, Inuwa is a frontline politician who has held various positions which include Commissioner of Education and three-time Secretary to the Government of Katsina State.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina state has flagged off a N3.6 billion, 1.2 kilometer township dualisation road
project from Kofar soro-Kofar guga in the state capital.

Radda speaking shortly before the ground breaking ceremony in Katsina on Wednesday, said the project is part of the administration's urban renewal project at decongesting traffic and boosting economic activities within the state.

He said the project which was conceived by the previous administration had to be reviewed to include other infrastructures such as the solar street lights.

The Governor announced that, government has released the payment of over N1.4 billion to the contracting firm to immediately mobilize and commence work, with compensation inclusive.

He however appealed to the people for their kind understanding to enable the contractor to execute the project within the stipulated period.

Dr Rabiu Magaji Ingawa, the state Commissioner for Works and Housing, earlier, said the project had to be delayed to include some additional features and reviewed upwards.

The Commissioner added that, the initial cost of the project was about N2.65 billion and because of the additional structure from Galadanci-General Hassan Usman's house, as well as the solar street lights, it was reviewed upwards to over N3.6 billion.

He said the total cost of the project include the payment of compensation to individuals and families the construction work would affect.

Engineer Maroun, the representative of the contracting firm, in his response, thanked the state government for the trust to participate in the development of the state.

He also appealed to the people to be patient with the firm while the project last, promising to hand over the project before the stipulated period.

INSECURITY: KATSINA COMMUNITIES PROTEST KILLINGS

Communities of Yargoje, Burdugau, Marmara, Danmarke and Kankara town have staged protest against the massive killings of innocent people at Unguwar Baushe and some villages around.

correspondent who monitored the situation reports that the protest started at Unguwar Baushe village in Yargoje and later spread to neighboring villages.

Confirming the incident, the village head of Yargoje Alh Isa Ibrahim Isa said the situation was pathetic as people of 31 villages have migrated to Yargoje for shelter.

Alh Isa Ibrahim explained that 7 persons were killed at unguwar Baushe village and the bandits threatened the lives of the people who attended the funeral prayers of those killed.

This however, provoked the people to staged the protest

The combined team of security operatives from neighboring local governments, assisted in calming the situation .

Travellers to Katsina through Kankara main road had to go through marbar Musawa or Gidan Mutum Daya roads.

Reports showed that the deputy governor,Alh Farouq Lawal Jobe and Kankara LG chairman Alh Anas Isah visited the affected villages to calm the situation .

Katsina state NLC chairman,Comrade Hussain Hamisu has described the economic policies of President Bola Ahmad Tinubu as inhuman, breading hunger and poverty in the land.

Hamisu stated this today while speaking at the peaceful protest organized by the union to protest economic hardship in the country.

The chairman lamented that the policies have wiped away the purchasing power of Nigerian worker.

" Your salary now cannot buy you a bag of Rice and other commodities not to talk of settling bills of other competing demands" he added.

He noted that the only ways out of the problem was the Restoration of petroleum subsidy and the revival of the county's refineries.

Hamisu vowed that if at the end of the protest nothing was heard from the government the union will be left with no option than to embark on an indefinite strike action.

Workers who participated at the protest carried placards denouncing government inflicted hardship while condemning IMF/ World bank economic policies.

However there were presence of large security forces keeping watch on the protest.

CRISIS: BAKORI RICE FARMERS CALLS FOR GOV RADDA INTERVENTION

The chairman of Nagarta Rice Sellers Association in Bakori local government Alh Auwal Ibrahim Bakori has called on katsina state Governor Umar Radda to investigate the uncostitutional dissolution of the Association by Authorities in Bakori local government.

The chairman of the association made the call in a press briefing in Bakori.

Alh Aiwal Ibrahim who rejected the announcement made by the local council on the dissolution said as far as they are concern they remain elected members of the Association till the end of their tenure.

He noted that the members of the associationn are legally and constitutionally elected by the members through due procedures and inline with laid down rules and regulations.

The chairman of the association said the elected members did nothing against the law that warrant their dissolution.

The chairman of the Association noted that members were sworn by the council chairman and relavant security agents four month ago but surprisingly some rice Sellers who are not members of the association called for the dissolution of the Elected members based on reasons best known to hem.

Alh Auwal Ibrahim said the other party has no legal right to complain on their election since they submitted a letter to the Association denouncing their membership that made them non members of the association.

The world Radio Day has been celebrated in katsina state.The celebration was held at NUJ center in katsina with important personalities in attendance.

during the celebration some of the working journalist with outstanding perfornance in the year 2023 were given awards.in a remarked at the occasion the state chairman of NUJ tukur Hassan Dan'Ali said the celebration was organised by a committee for the world Radio Day celebration set up by the state office of the union.

Tukur Hassan Dan'Ali said the world Radio day celebration was started in katsina state in the year 2020 in recognition of the day set aside by UNESCO.

The state chairman of the union described Radio as a best medium of informing ,educating and entertaining the public on local, state and national issues.

Tukur Hassan Dan"Ali charged the working journalist in the state to remain focus, determine and always be giuded by the professional ethics of the job.

He promised to protect the interest of the working journalist in the state for progress.

The businessmen expressed the concern when speaking to press in Bakori and sheme.

According to the farmers the high cost of commodities has direct link to the .m1 being experience in recent times.

One of the surgarcane sellers and sarkin Karan Bakori Alh Aliyu jibrin said the price of sugarcane is high this year consider to what was obtain last year.

Coalition of CSOs elect new ex-co in Katsina

The Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Katsina State has held its election into 10 elective positions in the executive committee of the body.

Abdurrahman Abdullahi was re-elected as Chairman and Kabir Shehu Yandaki was elected as Secretary while Fatima Sanda Kaita was elected Vice Chairman, Umar Jibrin Assistant Secretary and Abdulmalik Umar as Financial Secretary.

Similarly, Khadija Saulawa emerged as Treasurer, Zaharaddeen Yakubu Welfare Officer, Dahiru Gambo Public Relations Officer, Yahaya Luggage Organizing Secretary and Aminu Sani as Auditor.

The new Executive Committee members were sworn-in by Senior Magistrate Mas'ud Abdullahi in a widely attended event.

In a remark shortly after their inauguration, the Chairman, Abdurrahman Abdullahi pledged to carry all constituent members of the coalition along in the new dispensation.

He also promised to champion an era of greater advocacy by Civil Society Organizations towards sustained growth and development of the state across all sectors.

ALLEGED MURDER: BATAGARAWA LG BOSS SENT TO JAIL

Magistrate court sitting in Katsina has remanded in prison custody the chairman of Batagarawa local government in Katsina state Alhaji Bala Garba Tsanni over alleged murder, abduction and culpable
homicide.

The chairman and 11 others were arraigned before the court under section 59, 249 and 189 of the katsina penal code law.

They were accused of the alleged murder of the village head of Dabaibayawa in Batagarawa local government of Katsina state, Late Alhaji Dikko Ahmed

Earlier the Magistrate Abdulkarim A. Umar had directed the police to produce in court the accused on the 25 January 2024.

The other 11 accused persons had been in prison custody for the past six months while the chairman was on bail throughout the period.

Producing the accused in court today (Thursday) the police said they have concluded investigation on the matter.

This however led the chief Magistrate to order for his remand in prison custody till the 7th of Match 2024.

The chairman state this while launching a solar powered pumping machine to irrigation farmers at Danja irrigation site.

He said the new technology has been provided by the Governor to support irrigation activities across the state for improved food production.

Alh Rabo Tambaya said Agriculture is the main economic stay in the north hence the need to support the sector for good.

The chairman said apart from the solar powered pumping machines, the state government incollaboration with local government areas have provided additional irrigation inputs of fertilizer, improved seeds and spying chemicals to the farmers.

Alh Rabo Tambaya said sixty farmers were provided with bags of NPK and Urea brand of fertilizer with improved seeds of water melon,peppe, onion,tomators,carbeged,letux among others.He charged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items given.

In the meantime the chairman Rabo Tambaya distributed bags of maize to less privileged and destitute people in the area.

According to him the maize was provided to support those who can not feed themselves with three square Mills per day in the locality.the chairman noted that the distribution was the continuation of the distribution of palliatives started by the state government recently.

SENATOR DANDUTSE'S APPOINTMENT OF ALIYU AS SLA WELL DESERVE

We must commend our Senator, Distinguished Senator Mukhtar Dandutse for appointing Malam Aliyu Sulaiman Faskari as his Senior Legislative Aid (SLA).

The choice was perfect, meritorious and for the development of Katsina South Senatorial district. With this appoinment, there is no doubt Senator Dandutse means business and he wants the development of the people of his constituency.

Having a competant assistant and giving him a ground to play signifacantly in what ever you hire him to do is one way of succeeding in that particular project. Hence, Senator Dandutse is determined to succeed and achieve alot as a legislative member in the National Assembly and chairman Senate committee on Tartiary Education Trust-Fund (TETFUND) as well as in bringing development to the constituency he represents.

Faskari legislative council has enacted a bi-law prohibiting all form of DJ music during ceremonies in the area.

The leader of council Kamala kadisau said the law was enacted to stop the rampant use of DJ music at night that posed a threat to peace and security in the area.

He also said the local council has directed the student Union in the area to conduct election of new officials for proper conduct of the union affairs.

The leader of the council Kamala kadisau explained that the local government find it necessary to enact the bi-law prohibiting the DJ music because of it negative effect on the community.

The law according to Kamala kadisau covered other anti- social activities considered immoral to the culture of the people and their religion faith.Such acts he said include all form of gambling, alcoholism,brothels shops, Adultery and commercial s*x houses among others.

Kamala kadisau noted that the activities of DJ musicians during wedding ceremonies is nuisance and give bandits an opportunity to attack,killed or kidnapp innocent citizens.This is because the DJ music run through the night causing public disturbance and security threat.

Governor Dauda Kigks Off Fadama III Project Distributes Agriculture Assets To 19000 Zamfara Farmers

Governor Dauda Lawal, on Wednesday, flagged off the Nigeria Coronavirus (COVID-19) Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (N-CARES) programme with the distributions of farm inputs and agricultural assets.

The ceremony for the flag-off of the Fadama III project was held at Zamfara State Ministry of Agriculture, targeting beneficiaries from 14 local government areas.

A statement by the governor's spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, noted that over 700 power tillers and seeds for rice and maize will be distributed to 19,000 farmers.

According to him, Governor Dauda Lawal's administration is determined to revamp the agricultural sector by providing adequate support to farmers.

During his speech at the kick-off event, Governor Dauda Lawal reiterated his administration's commitment to providing social interventions for less privileged and vulnerable individuals in Zamfara.

He said: “Through the Fadama III programme, 100,000 farmers will be empowered with the necessary equipment and seeds over the next four years. Coming shortly after the signing of our 2024 Rescue budget, it testifies to our resolve to take the required steps towards realising our targets in the agricultural sector, which is the most vital sector of the economy of our dear State.

“As you are aware, the COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Programme is a multi-sectoral programme centred around three critical result areas and is designed to address specific challenges and harness opportunities on our path towards a robust post-pandemic recovery.

“Under FADAMA 3, the Result area focus is on increasing food security and ensuring the safe functioning of food supply chains for our vulnerable households.”

Furthermore, Governor Lawal said the Zamfara State government will provide essential input support and services, construct and rehabilitate access roads, and allocate assets for production and mitigating food loss and waste.

“In this third cycle, our key objective is to improve the productivity of 11,760 farmers directly by providing them with vital inputs such as fertilisers, herbicides, insecticides, improved seeds, and seed dressing chemicals. For the upcoming dry season, we have allocated 33,000 bags of fertiliser – comprising 22,000 bags of NPK and 11,000 bags of Urea.

“Also, over 700 power tillers and seeds for rice and maize will be distributed to 19,000 farmers. Furthermore, 735 groups of ten farmers each will be empowered with Power Tillers, and 2,550 individuals will receive small ruminant animals.”

Zamfara Workers receives Salary Bonus

Governor Dauda Lawal has paid the 13th month salaries of government workers in Zamfara State.

On Thursday, the Zamfara State Government announced the decision to settle the 13th month salary in a circular communicated by the Head of Service, Ahmed Aliyu Liman.

A statement by the Spokesperson of the Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said the remarkable payment of a 13th-month salary is the first of its kind in the State's history.

According to him, the decision aligns with the state government's commitment to the welfare of workers and to motivate the workforce to high performance.

“Today, Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the swift payment of end-of-the-year bonuses for public and civil servants in Zamfara State.

“This kind gesture is meant to boost the workers' morale and provide them financial support during the holiday season.

“It's worth noting that this is the first time in Zamfara's history that the state government is paying workers a 13th-month salary.

“This move is a testament to Governor Lawal's desire to implement policies that enhance working conditions, increase salaries, and provide career advancement opportunities for government workers.

“The payment of the 13th-month salary is just one of many initiatives aimed at empowering workers and promoting economic growth in Zamfara State.”
