*THE NEED TO REVIVE OSHIKONKO LOCAL SECURITY SYSTEM IN NDOKWA NATION*

Ukwuani VOICE in an attempt to contribute positively to the insecurity situation in the country, embacked on a rigorous study on how to improve on our security system in Ndokwa, Delta State and Nigeria in general.
It is pertinent that we dig deep to unravel the mystry behind the incessant attacks on Police personnel, Police Stations and government properties, on the ground that no one can tell who the next target would be when it comes attacks by bandits.

The recent insecurity situation in Kwale town and some other places, would have been averted "if" there was a functional local security structure on ground. Today, everyone living in the area are paying for the inconveniences accassioned by the activities of hoodlums and criminal elements in that area.

'Oshikonko' local security system as it was during 1980s to 90s are more proactive than reactive in nature and operations, due to the fact that they know every one in the community where they operates, and they takes cognizance of movement of people both in and out of their communities. During the period when this local security system were very vibrant and visible in Ukwuani land, criminals who specialized in stealing goats and chickens don't operate for days without being arrested, as snickering as they are. But now this criminal elements go about with guns which makes it more easier for them to confront if they are equipped with most calibers of weapons or it's equivalents to function.

The act of terrorism, banditry and concealing criminals and criminalities is never in our blood, and we cannot at this point fold our hands and watch our youths being radicalize for today, which may in turn hunt us tomorrow. No society that radicalized her youths to achieve some certain aims and objectives lives to tell the good story, it is against this backdrop, that we all need to stand up and condemn this act of destructions in our land before it gets out of hand.

The popuplar name ascribed to this criminal elements (Unknown gunmen), can be reversed or becomes a thing of the past, if functional local security system are put in place, on the ground, that these men are not spirits, they lived amongst us and within us. Calling on all Traditional institutions in Ndokwa NATION and Nigeria at large, to as a matter of urgency, go into synergy with government security agencies to save our land from total collapse.

NDOKWA ARISE.

LET'S WORK WITH HIM ON THIS 7 POINT AGENDA

*My Vision For NNU - My Action Words*

There has been ongoing campaign on every social media platform expressing my intent to lead the Ndokwa Neku Union, the apex pan Ndokwa socioeconomic and political development body.

No doubt there have existed rancorous transitions from one NNU leadership regime to other, even with published books citing past achievements and challenges of the Body, and today, with the Ukwuani development consciousness at heart, I Gen. Mike Ndubisi, from Ezionum in Ukwuani LGA has joined other illustrious sons and daughters of Ndokwa nation in quest to revive and rebuild our NNU as to position it to enable our ethnic group pursue progress and close the gaps in our infrastructural development.

My vision has been well spelt out as my social contract with Ndokwa people when elected as President General.

I have also proposed core values to our people - the Ndokwa people; my values emphasise service and gains to the next generation and today's.

The following values I have proposed to my people when I am elected as President General;

1. I shall organise Community Engagements involving tours to Ndokwa Communities which have prospects for rapid development. With this in mind, Kwale, Aboh and Obiaruku which are the HQs of our LGAs shall become my priority ports of call to see how we can promote rapid development exploring my contacts in government at all levels.

These planned tours shall focus on engaging Community Development Unions as partners with NNU and LGA administration also to identify their priority needs particularly from the government and the political leadership class as to equip us with appropriate feedbacks to engage the government and its officials.

We can't succeed without you THE PEOPLE!

2. The NNU Excos led by me proposes to visit NNU branches across Nigeria to chat and parley with their Excos as to identify their vision and build synergy with their membership to actualise the Branch's set goals. We just need this cooperation to make Ndokwa nation great!

3. I have also propose be involved with the political stakeholders, inviting them to robust periodic interactive session to discuss the Ndokwa/Ukwuani poor infrastructure concerns particularly the absence of higher institution of learning in our soil and phantom ways of improving on the service delivery of politicians and the government of the day. We achieve capital intensive development by government support!

4. In the cause of our leadership we shall passionately seek to meet with the Presidency and the heads of the State Government ably led by the President of Nigeria and the Governor of Delta State to harness our requests and put demands before them to entrench equity and fairness in resource allocation as to evenly distribute our commonwealth to see Ndokwa/Ukwuani close the gaps against ethnic discrimination.

5. My administration proposes to explore necessary diplomacies in encouraging the Oil and Gas companies operating in our soil to give account of their Corporate Social Responsibility efforts in our host communities, and our role would be to ensure we call and push for more investment in people projects, scholarships for Ndokwa people, review of conflict laden MoUs, while seeking peace and resolving existing conflicts between stakeholders in the host community and the Oil and Gas firms.

6. With the support of Ndokwa people towards electing me as President General of the NNU, the NNU Excos led by me proposes to laise with government to pursue lasting peace across Ndokwa nation where land disputes have taken lives and properties of Ndokwa people. Our goal is to reconcile warring communities and persuade them to embrace lasting peace knowing that Ndokwa is one people!

7. The NNU leadership under me shall put Ndokwa people and the development of our land first, we shall not seek favour from the power elements in government to abandon the core demands for development of Ndokwa land!

My vision are ACTION WORDS!

I humbly seek your support!

Thank you!

Gen. Mike Ndubisi (Rtd).

FUNCTIONAL TEMPLATE FOR THE INCOMING NDOKWA NEKU UNION EXECUTIVE.

It's no longer a news that Ndokwa Nation at this critical and challenging period, where everything that has to do with the growth and development of our land from the government coffers has gone into the tin air, the main reason we need come together as one for the purpose of librating the region in Delta State.

This is not the time to aportion blames on any one or Political parties of being responsible for our backwardness, rather it's time to dig deep into the root cause of our problems. Blame games in the past has never in anyway yeilded positive result, ratherr it further disintegrates us as a people, and at the same time gave an ample edge to our naghbouring ethnic groups to further benefits more out of those things that should be coming to Ndokwa Nation, hence the urgent need for a strong Ndokwa Neku Unoin.

Some Ndokwa citizens in the past, has also used this same blame game to fight personal vandetals for selfish gains, it is time to stop these set of people, who's duty is only to enrich themselves at the expense of the entire Ndokwa people.

I therefore, humbly plead to the incoming Executives of NNU to distance themselves from being sponsor by a particular Political party, this has been the game in the past, it has never gives us anything and has never solved any problem for us.

The Executives should by now know, know that there is a great problems of underdevelopments and backwardness in the land, disintergrations and disunity amongst communities and between LGA's is gradually growing due to the discovery of crude oils and land dispute everywhere.

Some Communities are now trying to separate from their original autonomus and ancestral orings due to this same discovery of crude oil problems in their lands. The advent of Kingship systems which had never our inheritance systems of governments from the origin and the politicization of the Kingship system by the Political class in the state, placeed danger as it stands right now in Ndokwa land, on that they have narrow far reaching decision to make. Another problem here is the feeling of inferority by some communities, that has not accepted this new system of Kingship government.

All these are foundational challenges working against the progress of our land, it makes it very difficult to arrived at a consensus agreement that should address most of the challenges confronting us as a people. For instance, if you are to call for a meeting of Kings in Ndokwa, so as to brainstorm and take far reaching decisions on critical issues borthering on progress and developments, some communities that are still practice only the Opkala-Uku system may not be present.

The question here, is how do we make adjustments to enable unity in our land? The recent introduction of youth body system on the other hand, is also gradually silencing the age grade system such as Otu Ole and Otu Onu Ogbe system which has been the graet custodian of customs and traditions inline with the Opkala-Uku system of governance. Most of this youth bodies are now more answerable to the Political class than the traditional institutions. Those benefiting for the Political class, may see this writeup the other way round, take this from me or you live it, that untill we make adjustments from our foundational errors, it may be very difficult for positive things to happen, hence the urgent need for the incoming NNU administration to realise, that their duties is not to come for the purpose of creating pasonal popularities that could caterport them into limelight party politics.

There is the need for Ndokwa Neku Union, to work closely with the traditional institutions in the land, to bring back our ethics and customs which are gradually diminishing as the day goes.

Most suprising aspect of it all as it stands know, is the onging NNU elections campaigns as witnessesed in the social media, is that most of the contestants are only talking about their personal details and careers achievements living what they have in stock to address the challenges facing us as a peolpe, or to tell us how prepare they are to bring back Ndokwa lost glory.

May God help us and our land.
Sunday S. Olise.

COPIED:

THE DISTINCTIVENESS BETWEEN BENIN AND BINI

Benin is not the same thing as Bini, Although it is some times used interchangeably, When this occur know that the writer is ignorant of the distinctiveness between BENIN and Bini.

The term BENIN refers to a loose area in southern Nigeria and this include but not limited to the bini kingdom.

From Bini to warri (New Benin) down to Agbor, Ukwani (Aboh) areas were all referred to as BENIN by Europeans but not Bini because bini is a kingdom inside BENIN. BENIN itself being a European term.

BENIN was divided into two Bini kingdom and Warri kingdom with Ode Itsekiri (Big Warri) being the most important port of BENIN (not bini) while Ughoton was a lesser inland waterway or fluvial port of lesser value as recorded by Europeans.

Over the years we have seen claims by people purportedly migrating from BENIN without understanding the demograph of the area that was termed BENIN BY EUROPEANS they now erroneously claim that their ancestors migrated from Bini kingdom instead of the BENIN area that encompassed people of diverse culture and way of life.

For example, Oladiah Equiano in his biography written by himself stated that he is an IBO from BENIN and specifically mentioned the part of BENIN he hailed from which he gave as ESHAKA. The ESHAKA he mentioned is present day ASHAKA which is an Ukwani town close to ABOH in Ndokwa East LGA but a reader today who doesn't know the distinctiveness between the term Bini Kingdom and BENIN area might be misled into believing his or her ancestors migrated from Bini kingdom and the misinformation goes on and on from one generation to another and that is why you see an Ogba man, Ikwere man, Ekpkeye man whose ancestors where igbos and migrated from Agbor Area of BENIN (Not Bini kingdom) to be claiming to be descended from Bini kingdom instead of their real of origin of being igbos.

Some of those persons who can't tell us how their bini ancestors started speaking Igbo will usually claim that it was due to proximity to Igbos that made them start speaking Igbo, but if that be the case how come Degema people are still speaking an Edoid dialects even when they are in the midst of an overwhelming Ijaw and Igbo population?

How come Epie Attissa in far away Bayelsa were able to retain their Edoid language but Igbanke next door neighbours of bini people in Edo state who purportedly migrated from same bini can't hear a word in Bini but still maintained their Igbo dialect. This goes to show that most if the people that claimed to have migrated from Bini kingdom were actually from BENIN area not bini kingdom.

In summary, WHILE BINI IS A KINGDOM OF BINI SPEAKING PEOPLE, BENIN WAS AN AREA ENCOMPASSING PEOPLE OF DIVERSE ORIGIN, DIFFERENT LANGUAGES AND CULTURE WITH TWO CAPITAL AT WARRI (NEW BENIN) AND ODE ITSEKIRI (BIG WARRI) BEING THE MOST IMPORTANT PORT OF BENIN.

Most of the exploits you read about were carried out by these people of diverse of origin of BENIN not Bini tribe.

BELOW IS A HAT OF PRINCE NANA OLOMU THE MERCHANT PRINCE OF THE NIGER DELTA; AN ITSEKIRI MAN BUT WAS REFERRED AS CHIEF OF BENIN. IF NOT FOR THE EARLY CONTACT ITSEKIRIS HAD WITH EUROPEANS WHICH MADE ITSEKIRI THE FIRST TO BE EDUCATED AND OUR HISTORIES WELL DOCUMENTED SOME OF US ITSEKIRIS WOULD BE CLAIMING OUR NANA WAS A BENIN MAN WHO MIGRATED TO OUR AREA DUE TO THE TERM BENIN INSCRIBED IN HIS HAT AND BOX BY EUROPEANS

HOW NIGERIA SOCIETY GRADUALLY INFLUENCED & CONTRIBUTED TO MORAL DECADENCE THAT AFFECTED ITS INNOCENT YOUTHS

We have always hammered it here that little things matters a lot especially at the end; because if a small cooking pot was contemptuously neglected on fire, its boiling overflow is capable of quenching a great cooking fire. Therefore, we must endeavour to also highlight here, some of the areas by which the society aid in corupting itself through wrong policies by leaders at various levels.

1. Handwork Practicals at Schools:
Hand work in the likes of crafting ropes, brooms, baskets, carvings etc was a continueous process of ensuring that pupils and students of elementary and Secondary schools respectively begins life by using their hand to produce useful materials. Such practice which was part of the school discipline was supervised at intervals as work-in-progress by the teachers concerned. The students got their recorded marks which form part of the examiniation scores. Finally, the cummulative items so produced were sold in the open market and the proceeds put in the schools fund. It was therefore supprising that due to the craze for raw cash, the school authorities neglected and withdrew the manual craft practice and opted to receiving finished products like toilet papers, plastic items, plates and finally raw cash for higher mark scores to the students. Do students or their families produce toiltet paper rools in their homes? What we thought was quick gains has today helped to land our society in get-rich quick syndrom. Monetary Inclinations!

2. Harvest Thanksgiving in Churches:
Havest in the past as the name suggests, is the harvesting of ones farm products at the end of the year and the best product/s of the harvest brought to the church at an officiallly predetermined date of thanksgiving assembly. This created the love to work harder to produce more bumper harvests for the next years thanksgiving service. Even the Catholic Church Mission was popular for doing after-harvest barzzar sales of the offerings to commercialize and monitize the proceeds at greater gains. Later on, the churches and church organisations prefer raw cash instead of people harvesting what they sowed or planted for the period. As for the cities where almost all worshippers are corporate workers, it may be acceptable but what about those farmers in the village too? Such system may sometimes demand for more than the people are able at a time but a farmer cant go to farm and harvest more than he has planted or achieved for the season. Monetary inclinations!

3. Government take-over of Mission Schools:
In the past, the moral training and folkwisdom at the family level was complemented with the exact experience back at school with good social behavours, including the fear of God and respect for humanity at large. As the schools were later taken over from the missionary owners through fiat and military decrees; government, its new owner jetitioned religious studies, prayers, civics and ancient history subjects etc. If children are not inculcated with the fear of God at young age, how do we expect them to fear or respect mortal being at grown up age? Creation of diliquency in youths!

4. Overemphassized Paper Qualifications:
The nation has laid too much emphassis on paper qualifications such that its citizens are prepared to do anything evil and dangerous to acquire it. The love for paper qualification blinded the eyes of policy makers to the extent that science, engineeing, technology and tecnmical forums were neglected to the backseat in the nations accademic and corporate considerations. Today, both students and their parents are culpable in the saga of examination malpractices commonly referred to as xpo. It is so sad that people/parents buy off other students results to gain advantage position in admission or employment. Examination malpractices has become a norm in some schools known as special centers and in some families where hard work and study has been religated to the achives of history.Instead of reading at school, students prefer to join cult groups and bad gangs in order to threaten the lecturers for unmerited marks; even for exams they did not participate in. Worse still, when such circles of youths grow up as lecturers, they want the female student to zip down or fail his papers for a re-sit. Coruption in the corridors of correction!

5. Federal Character & State of Origin Syndrome:
Federal Character and State of origin syndrome are twin monsters that have made the beneficiaries to believe that if they struggle hard or not a place is reserved already for them in advance. The policy is a direct way of making mockery of the whole system as mideocrity is celebrated while the intelligent suffer loss because of his/her Federal Character or State of Origin disadvantages. It forces some of its victims to go into forgery and lies on their real status of identity. Imagine being the best student in the class and watching the poorest student in your class gain an admission in same educational or corporate institution where you are rejected for the above reasons. If the best cannot get the admission or job, why expect the best as workers at the commercial and the industrial sectors? Do we really need the best performance in our national spheres? If yes; can plantain tree produce orange fruits? No! It is a natural law that what you sow is that you reaps. Garbage in garbage out!

6. Praise Singing at High Places & for the Wrong People:
In the past, the family and the religious institutions reshape the society at large. Then, community, church and the society are critical of where any rich individual obtained his wealth. And that made people to be extra careful of their action and inactions in the community. Today, the family, and even the religious communities are resahaped by the external society. Therefore, the family, church, community and the larger society are not interested in where the wealth comes from so long as they expect to have a taste of the action. While the corporate societies are saying, ‘what is in it for me?’ the youths are requesting indirectly by asking, ‘anything for the boys?’ All these group of people do praise singing of people with dubious characters. That has therefore removed shamefacedness in criminalisms and corruption based wealth acquisituions. Aiding & abeting corruption as an acomplice!

7. Youths Disorientation by the Military:
In the original culture of the Nigerin clans, the traditional rulers headed by the Oba, King, Chief, Emir or the Obi has enomos powers of natural authority to rule over his subjects ease of obedience. During the military era of the nation, the Federal Military Government through the respective State Governors in attempt to ensure that their decrees and fiats are obeyed in military grand style, desecrated and disgraced the position of the traditional rulers and pulled away their ruling powers before the communities. Such youths were quick to take advantage of the odd situation of incarceration of the Traditional Rulers and turned hardened disobedient to community native orders by clan chiefs. This was made worse, especially as militarys profane public displays also aided in militarizing the youths to be as threatening as the armed robbers, eg area boys, agboros, militants, cults and secret societies etc. Kings lost power of public administration of their domain communities. Killing the goose that lays the golden eggs!

8. Politicians Misuse of our Youths:
When partisan politics arrived at the end of military era, the Politicians who are also partly dominated by retired soldiers took further advantage of the militancy created in the youths and engaged them as bodygaurds or secreet personal defence army against political opponents and parties. What they have succeded in bequiting to their contemporary youths are nothing but demoralization, militarization, monitizationa and ungovernable disposition. Currently, the mindset of some youths are centered on acquiring massive wealth in split seconds but are not thinking of how to work towards it. They rather rely on financial pacification and, or evil thoughts of hostage taking, rob, r**e, and terrorizing of the same people who corrupted them into joblessness and idlleness. What goes around comes around!

*ADVISE TO MY FELLOW YOUTHS*

WHAT YOU HAVE DEMONSTRATED IN THE PAST WEEKS AS A PROTEST SHOWS A SIGN THAT WE ARE STILL THE HOPE OF TOMORROW.

THE CHANGE WE ARE YEARNING FOR CANNOT COME IN A DAY, BUT YOU HAVE REGISTERED YOUR NAMES AT THE PART OF PROGRESS, DESPITE THE FACT THAT SOME UNGUIDED ELEMENTS STEPPED INTO THE PROCESS TO GIVE YOU A BAD NAME.

WHO TOLD THEM THAT TO DESTROY OUR PROPERTIES IS THE BEST? WHO HAS FOOLED THEM TO THINK THIS IS THE RIGHT WAY TO GO?

THIS AGITATION STARTED WELL, BUT THIS VERY FEW ELEMENTS MAKES IT TO TURN THE EVENTS AS IT IS NOW! THE POOR AND THOSE STRUGGLING TO MAKE ENDS MEET ARE THE STILL THE PEOPLE NOW SUFFERING BUT THIS MUST NOT DETER US TO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS STILL HOPE AT THE END OF THE STRUGGLE.

I CONDOLE WITH MY BROTHERS, FAMILIES AND FRIENDS WHO LOST THEIR LIVES AND LOVED ONES IN THIS STRUGGLE FOR A BETTER NIGERIA.

THE KIND OF NATION WE ARE YEARNING TO BUILD AS FUTURE LEADERS SHOULD NOT BE BY DESTRUCTION, THUS IF WE PUT IN THIS TYPE OF ENERGY DURING ELECTIONEERING PERIOD TO KNOCKOUT ALL THOSE THAT PUT US IN THIS MESS AS A NATION, I BELIEVE IT WOULD GO ALONG WAY TO CHANGE THE NARRATIVES, AND IF WE STANDS OUR GROUND AS WITNESSED DURING THIS PROTEST BY NOT ALLOWING THEM TO DIVIDE US WITH THEIR USUAL ETHNIC, RELIGIOUS AND TRIBAL STRATEGIES WE SHALL GETIT RIGHT.

IF THIS KIND OF ENERGY IS CHANNELLED TOWARDS ELECTIONEERING PROCESS TO ELECT OUR LEADERS, AND USE THE SAME TO RECALL THEM WHEN NESSARY, IT WOULD GO ALONG WAY TO BRING IN THE NEEDED CHANGE.

LOOK CLOSELY AT THOSE BEATING THE DRUMS OF DESTRUCTION, THEIR FAMILIES ARE NOT HERE, EVEN THOSE, EVEN THOSE THAT ARE HERE CAN JET OUT IN A SECOND WITH ALL THEY HAVE AND ABANDON US ALL HERE.

LET US NOT BE USED AS TOOLS IN THE HANDS OF THOSE DESTROYERS.

WE ALL WANT A BETTER NIGERIA, BUT WHEN YOU FINISH BURNING YOUR HOUSE AND INFRASTRUCTURES WHERE WILL YOU STAY AND WHOSE MONEY WILL BE USE TO REPLACE THEM?

I PRAY FOR GOD HEALS THIS NATION AND GIVE US THE PEACE AND GOOD GOVERNMENT WE ALL DESERVE.

AMEN.

ON ANIOMA STATE CREATION:

Thanks very much for your insightful message Chief Udom Ossai.

This is insightful because you took time to make sufficient historical references of those who were in the field of play when the agitation for Anioma state was in its peak.

Today we have clowns and direction less people all over the place who are parading themselves as leaders and doing everything excerpt leading Ndokwans in the right direction.

How be it that as senator of the federation called Nigeria a man can unilaterally decide to present such a serious case on behalf of a people without consultation?

When was the issue of state creation mentioned at the national assembly?
Who mandated senator Nwaboshi to speak on our behalf even as a senator representing our zone? When were consultations made?
Why is it that all our representatives in all arms of government are either quiet or in deferent to the calls and aspirations of our people especially now on this matter?

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have come a long way in our current agitation for better leadership in Ndokwa land and now is the time to inform all and sundry that the music tone has changed and both the players and dancers are completely different set of people with new set of rules of engagement.

Let it be clear to those who sell us for pittance that the lack of apex leadership in our nation has produced much more dynamic personalities most of whom are very focused and cannot be bribed into accepting second fiddle.
I dare say that if an Ndokwa opinion is not accepted as lead in the current scheme of things in the senatorial district none of us will follow the usual stupidity of old.

Here lies the urgent need for immediate reawakening of our sleeping NNU!
So even if the tenure of the past exco of NNU is far gone, don't the past presidents find it necessary to forge a front as college of past presidents and present such views as may be acceptable by us? Must we play politics with every issue? Why can't we find a common ground on which we can agree and move on? Can it be said that we have been direct enemies because we have divergent views on a particular issue? Must our views be the best all the time? What will it benefit any of us if we hold on to our excellent view and thoughts close to our chest UNTIL ITS MY TURN TO LEAD but never got the oppotunity? Must everyone be the president before he/she can propose an idea? I fear usoooo!!
My people, the time for rhetoric is far gone. We are no longer blind, nonchalant and usable tools. The current crops of concerned Ndokwa people are men and women of value, hardworking, integrity, and with purpose. No longer are we available for anyone or group to gag.
It is time now to have a strong voice that will send the desired message to whosoever is in whatever office or disposition that NDOKWA/UKWUANI people are no longer available for the crumbs.

Finally, the currency given to the Nwaboshi proposal for Anioma state should be investigated and those found to be selling us for cashed should be given a place they deserve in Ndokwa Hall of the infamous. This struggle must succeed.
