KASUPDA TO ESTABLISH THREE AUTOMOBILE HUBS IN KADUNA
The current administration of Gov. Nasir Ahmed El-Rufia remains committed and determined to provide accelerated, coordinated, integrated and sustainable infrastructure development for Kaduna State. This is anchored in its Kaduna Urban Renewal Projects, making the State a choice and leading investment destination in all sectors of the economy and improving the welfare of all Kaduna residents.
Over the years, those in the business of selling new or used cars at the retail level, known as Car Dealers have been occupying illegal spaces by the road side as their outlets and business spaces. These dealers whom are mostly occupying rented spaces by the road sides have contributed in the congestion in the Kaduna metropolis.
It is in this light that the Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) under the capable and dynamic leadership of Malam Ismail Umaru Dikko, is proposing to establish three Automobile Hubs in the following areas; Kaduna-Zaria road, Kaduna-Abuja road and the New Millennium City.
The idea is to have a business cluster with multiple car dealers in a single neighborhood. The proposed Kaduna Automobile hub, will house car dealers, automobile mechanics, spare parts retailers and industrial car-wash. The hub will also have office spaces, restaurants, vehicle licensing offices and residential spaces.
The Kaduna Automobile hub, when established will be a one stop-shop for automobiles, leveraging on Kaduna State strategic location in the northern urban corridor (Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano). This project is also aimed at decongesting Kaduna Metropolis, opening up new spaces for commercial activities at the proposed sites.
The Authority, has met with major car dealers in the state, data has been collected and verification was also done to ascertain the capacity of each dealer, the number of cars in their car stands, their employee capacity, their preferred location among the three proposed new sites and the plot size they can develop if allocated a plot.
KASUPDA is certain that by doing so, the new automobile hubs, upon completion, will further help in opening up the business environment in the state and will help the Authority to plan and develop the state metropolis, as the state government carries on with its infrastructural development projects.
