Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has thanked the people of Akwa Ibom State on the occasion of the first anniversary of the massive victory they gave him exactly one year ago, today at the Gubernatorial polls.

In a message of appreciation released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Eno said, “it was exactly one year ago today, that you, our dear and resourceful people rose in unison and accorded us a massive victory to continue the expansion and deepening of good and people-centric governance.

“Let me once again thank you for the faith and hope you invested in my capacity to steer the Ship of this great and wonderful Land of Promise.

"We will continue to hold this sacred mandate in trust for you and do all that is necessary and proper to advance our growth and development

TSUNAMI AS 50,000 YPP YOUTHS EMPTY INTO AKWA IBOM PDP
.. Defectors Pledge Loyalty to Gov Umo Eno, PDP

An earth-shaking tsunami has hit the opposition YPP in Akwa Ibom state with a mass movement of the entire youth structure of the party into the leading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Formally declaring their return to the PDP, Tuesday March 12 in Uyo, the leadership and structure of YPP Youth Caucus in Akwa Ibom State expressed their decision to return to the PDP, noting that the party remains the number one choice of Akwa Ibomites since the return of democratic rule, with the leader of the party, Governor Umo Eno, putting the interest of the State and the people above other considerations.

According to National/State Chairman of YPP Youth Caucus, Prince Kini Ikpeme, who led tens of thousands of defectors into PDP, "while we were in a sinking ship, we still had the determination to stand firm to the last. Our promise is that we will double that effort and determination to stand with you throughout your tenure... we promise to abide by the rules and regulations of PDP; we will be loyal to our party, the PDP..."

Receiving the defectors back to the PDP fold, the State Chairman of the party, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan commended the former YPP Youth Caucus for emptying their structure back to the PDP, adding that this is a demonstration of their love for the Akwa Ibom State.

"Your decision to come back to your political home, the PDP shows that all of you have recognized the need for Akwa Ibom State to continue on the path of sustained progress and development."

"You have come back to PDP at the very right time. Elections have finished and now is the time for governance. I know that you have come to join in supporting our dear Governor, Pastor Umo Eno to deliver good governance to Akwa Ibom people", the Chairman said.

On his part, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Frank Archibong, lauded the courage of the defectors to identify with good progress by returning to the PDP and to support the ARISE Agenda of Gov Umo Eno, stating that as a father of the state, the Governor is always ready to work with everyone in delivering on the promise.

"You have done the right thing by coming back to the party that has produced successive and successful administrations in Akwa Ibom State since the return of democracy in 1999. This is the same party that has produced the government of Pastor Umo Eno, a man who has shown exceptional leadership so far. You are on the right track", he said.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters, Hon Ini Akpan, welcomed the defectors and assured them of due inclusion and synergy in the course of Governor Eno's ARISE Agenda which he said is a youth friendly leader.

The Massive defection of the former YPP Youth Caucus members is one of the recent defections of opposition party members to the ruling PDP in Akwa Ibom State.

ISD Senate 2023: I'll restore our lost glory- Barr Enoidem assures Mkparawa Afe Annang

National Chairman of Maintain Peace Movement, MPM, and PDP Candidate for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, has assured his constituents of his determination to offer effective legislative representation that will restore the lost glory of the Senatorial District and reclaim her pride of place in the political economy of Nigeria and Akwa Ibom State.

The former PDP National Legal Adviser, NLA, stated this on Thursday when he received in audience, the National Executives and members of Mkparawa Afe Annang 4 PDP, led by Adede Marshall Udosen at his residence.

Barr Enoidem reiterated his resolve to provide leadership that will place the district at the pinnacle of legislative excellence that will be a benchmark in Nigeria come 2023.

He called on the youths to support all PDP candidates as his ambition is a joint ticket with the PDP Governorship candidate. "If you don't support Umo Eno don't vote me because I can't achieve what you want without PDP producing the Governor in Akwa Ibom State", he stressed.

The PDP Senatorial hopeful thanked the group for their love and passion to defend the truth, admonishing that as "Defenders of Truth", they owe themselves the sacred duty of ensuring they mobilize support for all PDP candidates.

"I am not a greedy politician. I have supported others for 23 years at Presidential, Gubernatorial, Senatorial, House of Representatives, House of Assembly, Chairmanship, Councillorship levels and appointments. I have invested in other people, that is why God has raised people to support me. God is involved in my Senatorial ambition that is why the support I'm having is massive, unprecedented and across party lines", he noted.

He noted that zoning has remained a catalyst for peace, harmony and unity, stating that the Senate seat is not one man's monopoly, thus the people must resist any politician whose ambition is driven by selfishness and greed.

"My tenure shall witness a new dawn as with your support, I can authoritatively say that February 25, 2023 is just for confirmation by INEC. With your support I have the votes, I have the winning numbers" he stated.

He announced that the APC is dead and non existent in Akwa Ibom State while in contrast, the PDP has made steady, conscious, and systematic growth and development in the State since 1999, assuring that with Pastor Umo Eno as the next Governor of Akwa Ibom State and himself as the next Senator for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, the future is bright, safe and secured.

HOW BARR. ENOIDEM IS NOT AKPABIO'S "BOY"

The attention of the National Chairman of Maintain Peace Movement MPM, and the PDP Candidate for Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District in the forthcoming general elections, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem has been drawn to a recent news publication on POST, a local tabloid. The publication quotes Sen. Godswill Akpabio, candidate of the APC for the same seat as Barr. Enoidem.

The MPM Chairman responded to this by stating that he was well established before Sen. Akpabio ventured into politics.

"Akpabio met me in PDP in the year 2002. This was 4 years after the party was already formed. He met me as former Chairman of Etim Ekpo LGA as far back as 1997, a former University law teacher, a practicing lawyer and the State Treasurer of PDP".

Barr. Enoidem wondered how he could have been hungry to be fed by Sen. Akpabio at any point in his life, since he (Barr. Enoidem) was already flourishing in the political career before Akpabio's appointment as a Commissioner by HE Obong Victor Attah in 2002, where he first had contact with him.

"Akpabio was appointed as a Commissioner by HE Obong Victor Attah in 2002. That was my first contact with him.

When he wanted to consult me for his gubernatorial aspiration in 2006, it was in my personal house in Ewet Housing Estate, which was built between 1999 and 2001. I owned a house in Ewet Housing Estate before Akpabio who got his first house in the same estate when he became a Commissioner under Gov. Attah."

The PDP Senatorial seat hopeful noted that his appointment as a Commissioner under former Governor Akpabio was meritorious and he served with committed passion and loyalty to the PDP. He maintained this loyalty and passion throughout Sen. Akpabio's administration as Governor and as Senator for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District until he defected to the APC.

"Just like Akpabio was appointed a Commissioner by Gov. Attah, he was under a duty of law to appoint commissioners when he became governor since he could not be governor and commissioner. So, I became one of the commissioners during his administration."

"As a Commissioner under Gov Akpabio, I served with unparalleled passion, commitment and dedication. I was loyal to Sen. Akpabio as my Governor and Boss till May 29, 2015 and supported him as my Senator till August 8, 2018 when he defected to APC, obviously for his personal gains against all entreaties and voices of reason."

Barr. Enoidem therefore stated that it would be "totally incorrect, inappropriate and baseless" for Akpabio to say that he was his boy in 2022.

If Akpabio is the APC candidate for the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, it is only a truism that he is going to contest the seat with Enoidem, who was long nominated by his party, the PDP since May 23, 2022, for the election before Akpabio obtained his mandate from the court on September 15, 2022, to contest for the position.

ATIKU FLAGS-OFF PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN IN UYO, VOWS TO TACKLE POVERTY, INSECURITY

As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flags-off its presidential campaign, the standard bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has reiterated commitments to salvage Nigerians from poverty, hunger, insecurity as well as restore the unity of the nation.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was addressing a mammoth crowd of party stakeholders and supporters at the Nest of Champions, Uyo at the flag off of the Presidential Campaigns.

The presidential candidate who described Nigeria under the leadership of PDP as the good days, assured Nigerians that a vote to return PDP into power will bring about economic boom, job creation and an end to insecurity.

"When PDP came into power in 1999, we met Nigeria in a state of poverty, insecurity, hunger and lack of education, we lifted Nigeria from the bottom to the top.

“We became the biggest economy in Africa, we had peace, we had progress then Nigerians said they wanted change.

"They voted for change in 2015, what have we seen. What we have seen is poverty, insecurity, lack of jobs and disunity", he stated.

The former Vice President who acknowledged the developmental strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel in the state, expressed delight at the successful hosting of the flag off of the presidential campaign, assured the teeming party faithful of a new lease of life when voted into power in the next year's general elections.

The Chairman, Presidential Campaign Council and host of the presidential campaign flag off, Governor Udom Emmanuel, in his remark said the presidential campaign flag-off, marks the beginning of hope, rescue mission and restoration in the country and urged Nigerians to vote PDP to liberate the nation from its present economic quagmire.

Governor Emmanuel further assured Nigerians that PDP will address unemployment, education and insecurity which has brought a setback in the country over the years.

"I want to remind you in case you have forgotten when PDP handed over power, the exchange rate was N186 to $1, now the exchange rate is almost N800 to a dollar.

When PDP handed over power, Nigeria was the largest economy in Africa, so today we want to flag-off the hope for Nigerians, restoration and rescue mission for Nigerians".

The Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council and Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, described Atiku Abubakar as the most experienced candidate for the plum job, adding that the PDP presidential ticket has recognized the plurality and diversity of Nigeria and expressed confidence in the party to move the nation forward.

The vice presidential candidate and Governor of Delta State Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, said PDP has presented a chance to rescue Nigeria from its present economic woes being the only party that is prepared to fix the challenges of Nigeria over the years.

Speaking on behalf of other governors, Governor of Taraba State, Arc. Darius Ishaku, assured Nigerians that once PDP comes into power the narrative will change, as insecurity, education and the economy will be addressed.

The National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, called on all members of the party to work in unity, pointing out that Nigerians are more concerned with the challenges affecting the nation and not a minor misunderstanding within the party which will be resolved.

Sen. Ayu presented Peoples Democratic Party flag to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of PDP.

Earlier, the PDP presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, paid a courtesy visit on the Akwa Ibom State traditional institution, at the Traditional Rulers Council Chamber, Uyo where he assured of working with the traditional institution to restore peace and stability in Nigeria.

The former Vice President, appreciated the warm reception accorded him by the traditional institution and spoke of his determination to collaborate with the traditional rulers to promote peace in the country.

" I feel exceedingly honoured for the opportunity to pay a courtesy visit to this revered traditional institution. I want to assure the traditional institution of our preparedness to work with you to ensure peace and stability in our country".

Governor Udom Emmanuel appreciated the guests who accompanied the presidential candidate to pay homage to the traditional fathers, and further thanked the President-General of the Traditional Rulers Council and Oku Ibom Ibibio, His Eminence Nteyin Dr Solomon Etuk for receiving the party's candidate and his entourage.

Ntenyin Dr. Solomon Etuk advised the political class to remain focused in their campaign, emphasizing that campaigns should be issue based, devoid of rancour.

The Oku Ibom Ibibio further appealed to the PDP presidential candidate to consider fixing roads and tackle insecurity, noting that the deplorable state of roads and insecurity across the country have been major setbacks in terms of economic development and called on the political class to be involved in community security.

NSE EKPENYONG WAS A CORE PARTYMAN, POLITICAL COLLOSUS - AKS PDP Affirms
.. As A'Ibom PDP Exco visits Deceased Family

The Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State has described the departed House of Representatives member who represented Oron/Udung Uko/Okobo/Urueffong Oruko/Mbo Federal Constituency, Rt. Honourable Nse Ekpenyong, as a core loyalist of the Party who contributed immensely to the entrenched successes of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State.

Communicating the disposition of the Party during a condolence visit to the deceased family, State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan described the late Federal Lawmaker as a political collosus who was a frontline contributor to the serial electoral victories of the PDP in his Federal Constituency and the State.

"If there were to be a central compendium documenting the strategic contributions of people to the growth and successes of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State, there is no doubt the fact that the name of the late Nse Ekpenyong would have enjoyed an elaborate and detailed mention.

Today, we came here as a Party with the blessings of the Leader of the Party and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel to condole with you on the demise of this man whose contributions made the Party what it is.

The PDP is a family and as a family we have lost an important member of our family. We pray that God should grant his immediate family, and the larger PDP family the fortitude to bear this huge loss"

The State PDP Chairman also used the occasion to deliver a special message by the leader of the PDP in the State and Governor of Akwa Ibom, His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel to the family.

Responding on behalf of the bereaved family, the first son of the deceased, Mr Victor Ekpenyong said the family is appreciative to the Governor and the People's Democratic Party for the demonstration of love and acts of consolation that they have extended to the family during this moment of grief, noting that the visit and support extended by the party has indeed made the burden of grief lighter on the family.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Funeral Planning Committee, Dr Chris Abasieyo, also thanked the party for the show of love, a gesture he acknowledged will continue to strengthen the continuous support of the extended family for the PDP.

The Condolence visit also had in attendance the wife of the departed lawmaker, Mrs Eme Bassey , Eldest brother of the deceased, children, relative and friends of the deceased.

2023: A'IBOM STATE ASSEMBLY HOPEFULS BEGIN PURCHASE OF FORMS

The commencement of sales of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for State House of Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, has witnessed first set of aspirants picking up forms for various state constituencies contest at the state party secretariat, Atan Offot.

On hand to supervise the process, the State Chairman of the party, Rt. Hon (Elder) Aniekan Akpan, who reiterated assurances of the party's resolve to provide a levelled playing field for all aspirants.

The aspirants on their parts expressed satisfaction on the well organised manner of the process and equally promising to abide by the party's policy of decorum and orderliness in the pre-primary engagements.

The sales of House of Assembly forms is expected to last till 1st of April.
