Then when someone does like you, it's just a bonus. Not something you need. Caring about being liked is a female trait.

ADVICE TO ALL POLICE OFFICERS!

1. Get married and start having kids earlier not when you're over 10 years in active service. Getting married and having kids early will help you train your kids while you're still in active service.

2. Start building a home earlier not when you're about to retire or when you're retired.

3. Always bond with your family. If you're serving away from your family due to the nature of our job, always call your wife and kids and take leave to see them often so you can bond with your kids and wife. Don't stick at your work looking for money all year because if you drop dead today, you'd be replace ASAP. Your family should be your first priority.

4. Go back to School if you're a SSCE holder and get a degree. If needed, get professional certificates and further your education to Bsc, Msc, Phd and even Professor level. If you can't go back to school, Learn a trade while still in active service. There are many things you can learn and become an expert which will help you once you're retired.

5. Avoid office or work gossip. Avoid things that will tarnish your name or reputation. Don't join the bandwagon that backbites your bosses and colleagues. Stay away from negative gatherings that have only people as their agenda.

6. Live a simple and descent lifestyle. Don't ever compete with your bosses and colleagues at work. You will burn your fingers.

7. Ensure you have a side business. Your salary will not sustain your needs in the long run.

8. Save some specific amount of money monthly or join a group of trusted and dedicated colleagues and run a monthly contribution.

9. Don't take loans for frivolous things except for medical emergency or Kids fees if there's no financial option at your end. Outside that, loans should be taken if it will bring in more money for you so you can balance yourself when the loan is being deducted from your salary. You can also take loan to run a capital project like building a house.

10. Live a private life and keep your life, business, marriage and family away from your work else, they'd be contaminated by some envious colleagues. Not everyone that smiles with you at the office truly wishes you well.

11. Be loyal and respectful to your superiors and don't be bossy or arrogant to your subordinates. When your bosses retire or are transfered, it's your juniors that will be there for you when you need them.

12. If possible, resign early. If you've served up to 20 to 30 years, and you've made adequate plans for yourself, resign early and start living a private life away from the stress of the Police job. There's no joy retiring when you're old, warn out and not useful for yourself after retirement.

13. Join a welfare group and be an active member. It will help you a lot when any eventuality occurs.

14. Always make sure you and your family go for regular medical checkups at any govt hospitals around you or at your NHIS where you're registered with. Make sure you eat healthy food, fruits and drink a lot of water. Also, watch your weight and exercise once in a while. This will save you a lot of medical emergency.

15. Start managing a side hustle whilst still serving. If the side hustle fail, don't give up, run another one till you're able to establish a good side hustle which you can retire to manage yourself fully. Most pensioners fail in life because they retire to start a project instead of retiring to run a business they've established while still in active service.

16. Pension money is not for starting a project or buy a plot of land to build a house but it's money for your upkeep or to maintain yourself in good health. Pension money is not for paying school fees or marrying a young wife but to look after yourself.

17. Always make sure you're a positive example at your place of work. Don't be a recalcitrant that will be a curse to yourself, the Police and your family.

18. Don't retire just because you hit a jackpot or you're pressured to follow the japa trend and you japa'd to a foreign country without a proper plan to where you're relocating to. I know several colleagues who left the Police and japa to a foreign country who are regretting it today. Always make sure you do your home work well before resigning if you want to resign early.

19. Don't retire while living in the barracks. Retire at your personal house early so you can bond well with civilians lives than spending all your years in the barracks and then finding it hard to relate with civilians after retirement.

20. Don't be too relaxed with your current payslip or your lucrative posting. Your payslip and posting will make you think you're OK whereas time is going and retirement is calling fast and quick.

Several Japanese companies are currently working on innovative technology designed to elevate homes above ground during earthquakes. Among these companies, Air Danshin stands out, as they have unveiled conceptual images of a house floating above the ground, supported by balloon-like structures beneath it.

These homes are equipped with built-in sensors that continuously monitor seismic activity and tremors. When these sensors detect any earthquake activity, they send a signal to an external air compressor located outside the house. This compressor then pumps compressed air into an earthquake-resistant foundation installed beneath the house, raising it above the ground and providing protection.

In more recent developments, architects have been exploring the potential of magnetic levitation technology for use in construction. While this technology is already in use for Japan's high-speed bullet trains, it has yet to be applied to buildings. Although the concept of floating homes remains in the realm of ideas for now, Japan's history of innovation suggests that they could be at the forefront of pioneering this trend.

QUESTION: What is the worst thing about your job as a police

officer?

ANSWER: I do not know. It's a job you will never satisfy any body.

If you arrest a criminal, everybody will be happy but his or her family will complain. If you release him or her on police bond because it's his or her constitutional right, people will say you have taken a bribe. If you deny him or her police bond, the human rights commission, Amnesty international and media will be at your door. If you investigate a case in a short time, they will say you have vested interest but if you delay, then you are not efficient and uninterested.

So there you.

Either way you cannot win.
