Niger Governor Shake Things Up, Fires All Revenue Enforcer

According to a press release from Lawal Tanko Information Officer SSG’s Office, Governor of Niger State, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago, has terminated the appointments of all Consultants, Service Providers, and Contractors in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) enforcement and collection currently engaged by the Niger State Internal Revenue Service and Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the State.

The immediate termination is aimed to enhance the efficiency and transparency of revenue collection processes and foster sustainable economic growth in the State.

The affected personnel are requested to return all Government properties, including official vehicles and other relevant documents in their possession, to the Permanent Secretary or the most senior Director in their respective organizations without any delay.

NATIONAL GREEN ECONOMY SUMMIT HOLDS OCTOBER IN MINNA

Niger State Government has concluded arrangements to host National Green Economy Summit slated for 24th and 25th October, 2023 in Minna.

A statement issued by Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman disclosed that the Summit is aimed at repositioning the State for sustainable socio-economic development as well as the Green Investment Hub of the country.

According to the SSG, "the Summit which will coincide with the United Nations Day for climate advocacy and International Day for Climate Action, will also underscore the resolve to partake in achieving collective global goals through responsible local action”.

The SSG further explained that the summit will also bring together policymakers, industry leaders, academia, local and international sector experts, non-governmental organizations, international development partners, investors, local communities and other relevant stakeholders to pave the way for an inclusive green economy and a sustainable future for the State and the country as a whole.

The theme of the Summit which is “Harnessing Green Assets and Innovation for Niger State’s Prosperity” will unlock the State's Green Economy potential and achieve prosperity for the people of the State, the statement stressed.

Alhaji Usman further revealed that the Niger State Green Economy Summit will provide concrete actions that will lead to a greener, more sustainable, and prosperous future for the State and the citizenry.

NDLEA don arrest dealers of Akurkura, plus including 75-year-old cannabis farmer.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested two suspects in Kwara State for trafficking in 19,878 bottles of the banned new psychoactive substance, Akuskura.

The suspects, Oladokun Oluwaseun, 49, and Ibrahim Jimoh, 27, were intercepted by NDLEA operatives along Ilorin-Jebba highway on Wednesday September 21.

They claimed the consignment packed in 35 jumbo sacks was loaded in Ibadan, Oyo state, and meant for distribution in Jos, Plateau state. Earlier, two suspects: Ukoro Ifeanyi, 46, and Idowu Toyosi, 20, were arrested with 2,290 capsules of tramadol and 100 bottles of codeine-based syrup at Mararaba park, Ilorin. The drugs were brought in from Onitsha, Anambra state.

A 75-year-old grandpa, Usman Bokina Bajama (alias Clemen) has been arrested by the operatives of the NDLEA for farming cannabis.

The septuagenarian was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday September 20 at Anguwan Sate, Mararraban Tola, Mayo Belwa council area of Adamawa, where he had a cannabis plantation from where 49kg of the illicit substance was recovered.

In Lagos, NDLEA operatives acting on credible intelligence intercepted a Volvo truck loaded with 2,146 kilograms of cannabis at Sangotedo area of Ajah and three suspects: Abdulazeez Rasheed; Afeez Raheem and Moshood Suleiman arrested. At least, 979,119 capsules of expired pregabalin weighing 733kg were recovered from Musbahu Ya’u, 28, and five others at Dansarai area of Kano, while in Enugu, 197.8kg cannabis was recovered in a store at new market, Enugu on Tuesday 20th Sept. In the same vein, 117.7kg of the psychoactive substance was intercepted along Okene-Abuja expressway in a truck coming from Lagos to Abuja.

In Edo state, six cannabis farmers were arrested when NDLEA operatives stormed their farms at Chigbite, Utese forest in Ovia North East LGA and Ekudo forest, Uhunmonde LGA, where over 10 hectares of cannabis plantation were destroyed and more than 193kg of the processed illicit substance seized. Those arrested include: David Hanson; Ufuoma Progress; Marvelous Armstrong; Marvelous Efe; Joshua Abubakar and Elijah Abubakar

Onyemelukwe initiated the planning and development of the electricity grid still used in Nigeria today when he became Chief Electrical Engineer in 1962.

Clement Onyemelukwe, Nigerian Chief Electrical Engineer of the country's Electricity Corporation, generated international attention when he married Catherine Zastrow, a white Peace Corps volunteer, who had just completed her service in 1964.

Although his parents had rejoiced that he had returned from nine years in the United Kingdom without a foreign white wife, in 1963 he met Catherine in Lagos.

“Peace Corps Worker to Wed Nigerian Engineer,” was the headline for a brief article in The New York Times from Lagos, Nigeria on Dec. 23, 1964.
In*******al marriage was illegal in Kentucky which was still Catherine's U.S. residence while she was in the Peace Corps.

“When her parents returned to Kentucky after the wedding they had to change their phone number because of hate calls. The couple received telegrams from people all over the world, mostly supportive but a few critical.

Onyemelukwe initiated the planning and development of the electricity grid still used in Nigeria today when he became Chief Electrical Engineer in 1962.

He left the electricity industry to found Freeman Engineering in Lagos in 1973. In 1976 he founded Colechurch International Ltd, a project management and promotion company, in United Kingdom.

He and his wife Catherine moved to Westport in 1993.

He initially held a residence card, known as a "green card," as he was spending a good part of his time in his home country Nigeria on business.

In 2007 he finally became an American citizen. He was a speaker at the Y's Men and an active library user while working on his latest book or researching business ideas.

He passed on at age 86 in March 2020.
He is survived by his wife Catherine, their three children, Chinakueze, Elizabeth, and Samuel, and five grandchildren, Ken
echi, Nkiru, Teya, Bruche and Ikem.

Alleged s*x abuse: 3 retired priests under investigation – Archdiocese

The Archdiocese of Chicago asked three retired priests to stay out of ministry while it investigates allegations of s*xual abuse of minors from nearly 50 years ago.

A news release from the archdiocese on Monday revealed that the allegations against Revs. John J. Rudnik, 87; James E. Flynn, 80; and John W. Clemens, 75, are being investigated by the archdiocese’s Independent Review Board.

Each of the retired priests has one allegation against him from nearly 50 years ago. All of the priests are cooperating with the investigation.

We take every allegation seriously and follow the policies and procedures we have had in place for decades,” Cardinal Blase Cupich, archbishop of Chicago, said.

“Only by conducting an impartial and thorough investigation can we fulfill our promise to protect the young people in our care and, if the results warrant, restore the good name of one so accused.”

The people who brought forth the allegations were offered Archdiocese Victim Assistance Ministry services, according to the release. Authorities and parishes where the priests served were also notified.

According to the archdiocese, the results of the investigation will be released once the process is complete.

Story of George Iyamu, the corrupt policeman that helped Anini and his gang.

George Iyamu was a corrupt Police officer back then in the 1980s, he worked for the notorious criminal Identified as Lawrence Anini.

Back then in the 1980s, the citizens of Nigeria were being terrorized by the infamous Lawrence Anini and his gang. Lawrence was popularly called the Law by people in the country.

He used to terrorize Bendel State from the year 1980 to the year 1986 before his death. Lawrence used to be a professional Taxi driver but he stopped the job and started driving criminals in the city.

Lawrence later formed his gang of criminals and they all robbed, kidnapped, and also killed many Nigerians.

Lawrence Anini men was practically invisible due to the fact that he had some Insiders in the Police force. Some corrupt officers were also part of his gang, they gave him Intel and protected him from arrest.

Lawrence was feared by everybody because he spared no one, he even killed over 9 Police Men in his time.

Lawrence Anini was caught on December 3, 1986 in the company of 6 Women. He was shot on his leg which later made the Doctors to cut off his leg. While Lawrence was in the police station, he went ahead to reveal those members of his gang.

Lawrence Anini mentioned the Police Inspector George Iyamu as his accomplice. George was exposed for working with Lawrence before his arrest, he lived a life of affluence and owned several cars and houses.

It was revealed that Inspector George used to protect Lawrence and his gang members from the law. He also used to give them guns and ammunitions, he also supplied them with Intel and logistical support.

When Lawrence revealed the involvement of Inspector George in his criminal activities, the Police Man denied everything totally. Even though Lawrence could not speak proper English, he called Inspector George a bloody liar.

Nobody would have ever imagined that a Police officer would ever assist a criminal in committing such a crime. That explains why it was difficult to catch Lawrence as at that time, he was able to get the necessary information he needed from Inspector George.

Lawrence had to pay George a huge amount of money for him to keep shut and protect him from harm.

Inspector George and Lawrence Anini were sentenced to death by firing squad on March 29, 1987. They were both killed in front of happy Nigerians that came to witness the end of the era of Lawrence Anini.

EDO GOVERNMENT GO ARREST, PROSECUTE OUT-OF-SCHOOL CHILDREN PARENTS, GUARDIANS.

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has said his government will kick off the arrest and prosecution of parents and guardians of out-of-school children from the next academic session, which begins on September 12.

Obaseki told journalists on Sunday that all machinery had been put in place for the enforcement.

He added that the government, in partnership with the state’s judiciary, had set up special courts to prosecute perpetrators of s*xual and physical abuses against children in schools in the state.

The governor said his administration was committed to guaranteeing the care, protection and wellbeing of every Edo child.

He said, “If we find any child under the age of 18 years being used for manual labour, such parents will be prosecuted. We thank the Chief Judge for providing special courts which will be used to prosecute any offender who perpetrates violence against any child or involves in s*xual defilement or physical abuse in our school system.

👉🏻Three Female Child Traffickers Poison Woman To Death After Sel!ling Her Newborn Twins For N3m in Enugu.

The Police in Enugu State have arrested three women for alleged conspiracy, trafficking of me!wborn tw!ins and mu+rder of the mother of the twins.
The suspects identified as Ukorie Cynthia, Onyia Pauline, and Aroh Ijeoma, were arraigned in court and have been remanded in Enugu Correctional Custodial Centre.

DSP Daniel Ndukwe, who is the Spokesperson of the command, disclosed that the suspects conspired and so!ld the newborn tw!ins for N3m and gave the mother, Chinenye Odoh, the sum of N1.8m.
In his words;

“Following the consolidation and conclusion of investigations into a case of conspiracy, child!dren trafficking and murder, the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department of Enugu State Police Command has today, 26/08/2022, arraigned in court, one Ukorie Cynthia aged 25, Onyia Pauline aged 56 and Aroh Ijeoma aged 39, all residing in Enugu,” he statement read.
“The suspects, who were arrested on 26/07/2022, by Police Operatives serving in Central Police Station (CPS) Enugu, were remanded in Enugu Correctional Custodial Centre, pending further hearing of the case
“Their arrest was sequel to the receipt of a report alleging that they conspired and so!ld the ne!wborn twins of one Chinenye Odoh aged 31, and thereafter caused her de+ath by poisoning her fo!od, when she realized that the suspects gave her an amount lesser than the total sum they sold the babies

“Investigations revealed that Ukorie Cynthia accommodated the deceased in her house till she put to birth on 05/07/2022, while Aroh Ijeoma facilitated the sale of the babies by contacting Onyia Pauline, a Nurse, who brought a couple that boug!ht the ba+bies upon their birth at the sum of three million naira (N3,000,000.00)

“That contrary to this sum, Ijeoma informed the deceased and mother of the babies, Chinenye, that the chi!ldren were so!ld for two million, three hundred and fifty thousand naira (N2,350,000.00) and thereafter, gave her the sum of one million, eight hundred thousand naira (N1,800,000.00); gave Cynthia and Pauline fifty thousand naira (N50,000.00) each; and kept the remaining proceed to herself
“However, when the dece!ased eventually knew the exact amount they sold the babies, she demanded for the balance, but was thereafter said to have e!aten a suspected poisoned corn given to her by Cynthia, leading to her death,”
Meanwhile, the case has been adjourned to 05/10/2022 for further hearing.

In Sanchaba Sulay Jobe, a Nigerian woman has taken her former landlord to the rent tribunal to get her D10,000 security deposit back.

The landlord, who tried to use the police to intimidate the woman and other non-Gambian tenants, claimed she used the money to repaint the apartment and buy a new shower handle.

We advised the police not to interfere and they listened. The landlord is not above the law.

She should return the Nigerian woman her D10,000! You cannot use a security deposit to repair normal wear and tear or the normal depreciation of an apartment.

When a tenant moves out of an apartment, the apartment is not going to look exactly as it did when he or she first moved in. Common sense!!

Increase your rent if you want, but don't steal from your tenants!
