STANDING OUT FROM THE CROWD WILL NOT SAVE YOUR BUSINESS!

Hold on, hold on before you pop your gun out to shoot me, please hear me out. So let's say you succeeded in making your mark with your brand.

People know at a glance when they see your brand, you are standing out from the crowd. Then they take the step to purchase from you, then what do they get?

❌ Late replies
❌ Defective products
❌ Underwhelming services
❌ Refusing to refund or exchange bad products

And a whole lot of other ugly stories... Do you think the perfect brand visuals and standing out at first glance will save you?

We are visual creatures, moved by what we see first before hearing. That is why people say first impressions matters. The truth is 40-70% of the decisions we take daily are largely controlled by what we see on a daily basis.

Sometimes we take actions or make purchases that we never wanted to just because it has been on our face for a very long time. As a business owner, you should leverage this power when handling your business.

Believe me, everyone's product/service is the absolute best. It is the product/service that is going to change the world! However, that is not what the customer is most concerned about.

They are worried if your product will make their lives better, they want to know if they are getting value for their money. They want to be sure, they will feel good after buying your product/service.

So spend less time on the features of your product/service and more time on the value and benefits of your product/service.

As someone who is an extreme introvert, I find it a chore to step out of my house. Most times, I have to conduct a mental exam to see just how hungry I am before stepping out to get what I want to eat.

This has made it very difficult for me to go to places and events that will benefit me in the long run. Weird I know, but I am just born that way.

So in the year 2024, I am choosing to step out of my cocoon and comfort zone. I will be attending events, seminars, conferences and the likes, go to public places etc and just build a lot of network and relationships.

One of my core goals this year is to be more proactive, I also plan to collaborate with a lot of people and meet other new people. I know this year is going to be different.

So how about you? What do you find difficult to do, but will be challenging that this year?

Here is why running after followers will be your biggest mistake in 2024...

In October of 2023 I conducted some deep work on my IG account and I made some not so sweet discovery. Yes my account was growing steadily, but the people who were following me weren't exactly who I wanted as my target audience.

So what did I do? I went ahead to remove and unfollow a lot of accounts, bringing down my following back to 500 and something. Was it pleasant, absolutely not. But I came to realise that in my line of work, follow count is not the ultimate.

Unless you're a content creator/influencer, you shouldn't dwell so much on how many people follow you. When research some of my competitors, I saw an agency just like mine that had less than 200 followers as of then, but they were driving in big numbers and working with big names.

Focus on creating a community not gathering a following. Let's chase after what's more important and not vanity metrics.

I HATED SELLING!!!

If there's one thing I hated more than selling, it had to be business. To me, business owners were all fraudsters looking for a way to rip people off their hard earned money.

I was naive and wanted to have nothing to do with them. When I look back now on my naivety, I just realised that business rules the world.

Without selling, civilization as we know it will crumble to nothing. Everybody sells one way or the other. Business is the soul and spirit of every nation.
