Veteran Nigerian actor, John Okafor, widely known as Mr Ibu, has passed away.
The actor breathed his last in a hospital in Lagos state on Saturday, March 2.
According to sources close to the family, Mr Ibu had been on life support following a second surgery for his illness.
Reportedly, his blood pressure remained high, exceeding 200, even after the surgery, and efforts were being made to stabilize it before he sadly succumbed later that evening.
For years, the actor grappled with chronic blood clotting in his leg (diseased blood vessels) and other health issues.
In October 2023, he publicly appealed for financial assistance to address his ailment. Although plans were made to take him abroad for further medical attention, his doctors advised against it, deeming him unfit to travel.
During the course of his treatment, his leg was amputated in November 2023.
Survived by his wife and children, the veteran actor, aged 62, was renowned for his remarkable portrayal of comedic characters in movies.
